Porsche & Acura PENALIZED! JDC Miller Promoted to Podium

IMSA has confirmed that the No. 6 Porsche and the No. 40 Acura will receive penalties from the Battle on the Bricks event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This drops Porsche Penske off the podium and promotes JDC Miller Motorsports onto it with their No. 85 Porsche securing their first podium in GTP. In this video I'll breakdown these penalties and the implications that come with them.

Many will hate it but I think adhering to the regulations this strictly is good as it tells everyone on the grid there is no wiggle room. The regulations are going to be enforced to the letter

Man, it's a bittersweet ending. At first, i'm happy that JDC Miller got their first podium, the second is quite sad because now the No.6 Porsche has to fight even harder to probably win the championship...

When you trick the rules with tyre pressures you can keep the win, when you have a wiring harness spec-issue, you are DQd. The latter has no performance gains, at all. This is just bullsh*t. I expected more from IMSA, they should not follow the footsteps of the FIA.

You forget, sports car racing in this country is now controlled by the Xenophobes at NASCRAP. They control IMSA and most of the tracks the cars run on. Dr. Don Panoz and the American Le Mans Series are long gone.

Tyre pressures and modifications to homologated parts are vastly different. They are homologated parts for a reason, they're not just to level the playing field but can jeopardize safety of many. Tyre pressures change even within a race stint so it's not uncommon to be given a warning or a lighter penalty.

Are the post and pre race inspections different? If so, why was this modification not found before the race began? I find this penlty to harsh because if it did not help either car win the race, then slap the team or menufactor with a fine and move on. Its not like the team modified the wring on the fly.

Please explain IMSA's logic to how a wiring harness modification is going to have a huge impact on the outcome of a race. And also WHY DID THEY ONLY IMPOUND A SELECTIVE NUMBER OF CARS, NOT ALL??? It seems very suspicious to me. You're telling me if the #10 Acura or the #31 Cadillac somehow bent the rules, they're just going to get away with it while these cars pay??? UNFAIR!

With JDC getting their podium, all of the full season entries minus the Proton Porsche have gotten at least 1 podium this year. It's also the first privateer podium in GTP since the season finale at Road Atlanta last year when Proton finished 3rd. This is the second time Penske's #6 car has gotten disqualified and it's gonna take a miracle if that car is gonna win the title. CGR doesn't gain anything as the gap between #7 and #01 remains at 164 points as it was before the disqualifications

Shame for the drivers. But I believe Honda have history with this sort of thing. Didn't Meyer Shank get done for lying or manipulating the tyre pressure information on their Honda not so long ago?

This is what happens when teams go into desperate mode to modify their race cars against the rules and risk the championship take away the hard work of their drivers that got them on the podium and all that hard goes to waste put them back in 10th at 11 and it goes to show that no excuse to cheat when you go against the rules and I seen the notice that when it comes to American team that they will take the risk of of cheating to get a performance gain at what cost but over in wec teams are more likely to follow the rules and not take major risk

@@timmcchesney46 You can't homologate a car in accordance with the rules, then fiddle around with the wiring. The rules exist for a reason and everyone else abided by them. It's that simple, and Penske should know better. Same with Acura and their brake ducts. Win legitimately or suffer the consequences. I've no sympathy at all.
