Porsche Boxster Spyder - Uniquely Attainable - Fast Blast Review | Everyday Driver 

I watched this video 2 years ago and promised myself I'd get one...happy that I was able to find one with manual, bucket seats and AC delete. Best car I've ever driven, and one of 3 Porsche sports cars in my garage. A forever classic that I will likely never sell. This is the type of car that you don't just go out and buy... it's the car that you get the privilege and rare opportunity to own a piece of Porsche history. I'll have to make a video about why these are just so amazing... The first time I ever saw one was the day I went to sign the PO on the car and I instantly fell in love. I knew it was a good car, but seeing one in person will make you freak out.

A friend leased one of these in 2011, bought it after the lease and is now approaching 200K miles. Still loves it.

The stock seats are carbon fiber from the GT3 cars. The ones in this video are the optional ones. Apparently lots of the US cars have these because the person ordering them for each agency was of the opinion that Americans will not like seats that are too hard. Of course he had simply not understood what a Boxster Spyder is all about.

I saw one once in red here in Houston TX back in 2012. It was gorgeous. Looks much better in person and definitely left an impression.

I had the pleasure of driving a Spyder on this years Utah Adventure, what a joy! Such simple and easy, pure speed and confident handling. Smooth as butter.

I will never get rid of my 08 manual 987.1 CS. I love the old school clicking of the hand brake and feel of hydraulic steering. Oh and that flat 6 wail on WOT through that Borla exhaust...7 years of ownership and It's still special to drive.

These guys nailed it. They are that good. I have one of these sitting in my garage. Luckily the original buyer spec'd the Carbon Fiber seats in alcantara red/black and six piston PCCB. Need to find out more about the "360hp chip"....lol

I have a Type 981 Boxster Spyder that I even drive top-down in below-freezing weather (top and windows down, always)... ... but the 987.2 Spyder is what brought me into Porsche showrooms. Remember, you could get GT2 carbon buckets in the 987.2 Spyders, too! Now if only I could afford getting a 991 Speedster, with its goofy tonneau cover (no roof at all!), center fuel filler, etc.

I owned a white one, manual, with carbon seats. Miss it so much, was unbelievably special. The tent they gave that as a top was a pain. Everyone I drove with said it smelled like it had the cats removed and sounded amazing.

We all understand the nostalgia certain smells invoke in us as adults. With that in mind, the passion auditory excitation invokes is available to only a very lucky few. These 6 cylinder Porsches will put you squarely in that group.

The 987 Boxster Spyder is the best car I’ve ever driven. It’s the perfect blend of old-school mechanical inputs and new-school style and just enough power. Get video, guys! Glad you guys were able to meet up with Jay and Parker!

These guys put out the best auto related content anywhere...even as a guy who doesn’t get too excited about Porsches in general, they totally convinced me on this one.

One of my absolute favorite Porsches...I was going to say "of the last decade or so", but ya know what? Of all time. The 987/997 generation was peak Porsche; the best combination of modern performance and refinement and usability with that great Porsche feel. The cars that came after this have been "better" on paper, but outside of the low-volume GT2/3/4 cars, they've been better cars for investment bankers and older commuters, not enthusiasts.

So I have one of these... a 6 spd red one with the carbon fiber seats. Seriously I have had 7 911's and I will never go back. Ok so the 911's of the same year are faster but for overall fun and driving exhilaration, this is the best! Every Porsche before this Spyder I've viewed as a temporary investment. This was put down roots :-)). Lastly, funny how people are critical of the roof. I on the other hand love it and feel the cars best presentation is with the top on.

Keep the hats and the fun coming. Remember, there's no need to burn what you can't take with you.

Now that the 718 Spyder is out, I really want one of those. However, at 100K, it is out of reach. I've already owned a Boxster, and did not think I would ever consider one again, but having seen this video and the tuning bump to 360 HP, this might just be it.

How much do these go for?

2011-2012 weren't the only years for the Spyder. There is a 981 Spyder also which was sold in 2015-2016. There will also be a 2020-2021 version available which may or may not be designated 718.

A 987.2 Spyder has been my dream car since 2011...I can afford one now, but my OCD is holding me back...I just know I'd be too precious with a $60k Boxster...but man, I still want it! Maybe a huge stock market/economic dip will make them a little cheaper, right!? ;) Great video as always!

I’m lucky enough to own a 2016 Spyder, a 2018 911GTS Cab, and a 2018 GT3. All great cars but the Spyder is my favorite!

Not a chance, late model 987 S and put the rest into parts, will look, sound and drive better than this. I'm not saying this is bad, just that they are hilariously overpriced compared to the excellent 987's they are based on.

@2:30 you mentioned this was chip tuned to go from 320HP to 360HP. Can you reference the tuner?

The seats are sports plus seats, not stock and screw the 981. 987.2 all day everyday.

The main thing holding me back from buying one of those is the top-it’s an absolute PITA to deal with. The 981 top is much better.

Try and find one that’s affordable ...impossible ... so buy a Miata- light and nimble feel, plus it’s much more affordable to live with!

I had a 987 Spyder for a few months... Great car Beautiful to look at especially from the rear... I changed it for A BMW 1 M coupe... It was the right decision.. The little BMW trumps it..

"Graduate" to a 911? The 911 is a downgrade in everything except power, and the later 987s and certainly the 981s have enough to be great road cars - far better than what has become a lumbering GT in the 991.

Terrible rear lights

I would never want a Porsche with the most ridiculous top ever made. It is totally unacceptable to me. Who buys a Porsche with a plastic rear window? It still amazes me how people will buy anything. I love Porsche and wonder how they sell cars with engines that fail knowing that the input shaft bearing was a potential for a catastrophic meltdown. The best Boxster and Cayman models are 2011 and 2012.

Porsche holds back sais it all. Expensiive cars to buy, maintain, repair and they make you pay for red seat belts and millions of options and then hold stuff back they have availible because they can sell you a badge and a clock package that gives you what you shoukd already be getting plus less that they hold back. Highest markuo of any car mfg who admits they could sell more cars but prefer to gouge status whores to keep exclusivity over fair pricing . Great cars that are overpriced to buy , service ,maintain and repair. But if your a Dentist or somebody who needs to loom rich and a bit cool but italian cars make you feel douchey .. Porsche...When you want to prove you can pay extra for something good just because you can. Porsche the performance value proposition with severly diminishising returns. Porsche cheap at half the price.
