Doug: "I'd buy the F40" Doug (during the first half of the video): *nearly brought to tears with love of the Porsche* I don't know Doug... rationality aside, i reckon you'd get the Carrera GT
@@sonicology the F40 might be the most iconic car in history. Certainly more important and particular than the Carrera GT. It was the last fucking car made by Enzo Ferrari.
You can see the sparkling in Doug's eyes when he starts talking about the Carrera and his begginings in car spotting. Such a legend Doug, look how far you've come.
Man... what a video. While I really like Doug's goofiness, to me, this is him at his best. Genuinely connecting with the experience and masterfully sharing it with us.
I could see the joy in Doug's eyes. It was a lifetime achievement moment. One that Doug deserves. Thank you Doug for all that you do... I was very proud for you to see you drive cars that you appreciate so much.... and that's why Doug has 4 million subs.
I think Doug could possibly be one of the greatest car reviewers, and that's saying alot because he is American and I trust British people for car info.
I saw that too and in that moment I was not even a bit jealous which I normaly would be I just was so happy for him because I saw how much it meant to him.
Doug is kidding himself. Look at his reaction when driving the Carrera GT vs when he's driving the F40. Doug would choose the Carerra GT if it was more expensive than the F40, let alone if they cost the same.
@@kocahmet1 that's subjective and debatable, but what do you care more about? Driving it, or what people think of you when they see you go by? Regardless this is about Doug, and he clearly prefers the Carrera GT. Look at him driving it, he's almost emotional about it.
When I was a boy in Paterson, NJ, my dad brought me over to his friend’s shipping business. There sat 2 new red f40’s. Plastic on the seats. I was afraid of getting near them. Frank said they’re just cars and are meant to be touched. I jumped in and got to sit and grab the steering wheel. Every once in a while I’d see one drive in at a car show. Now. They’re not just cars
"Greatest experience of my RU-vid channel so far" You know he wanted to say the greatest experience of his life but he didn't want to have to sleep on the couch this week
My understanding is that you don't really drive a Ferrari anywhere under about 130mph. It's a machine to go very fast. I'll never know what it's like at 160-180mph - or faster - but I think that's what it's designed for and where it shows off what it is.
9:54 from this point on it looks like he's getting emotional (almost crying)and i almost followed him. Wow this guy has REAL passion, you gave me goosebumps Doug. Edit:I now watched the whole video and i can affirm this was your greatest video ever, and that I personally have watched thousands and thousands automotive videos(i'm not exaggerating),and it's probably one of the best videos i've ever watched, of any kind
Truth be told the f40 is a better 'car' that doesn't mean Carrera GT isn't more emotional, I imagine that the f40 would be more sharp and focused while the Carrera GT would be like an angry stallion ,at last it depends on your taste
@@ForcesNL Yes well, he would, when he's not daily driving one of his other cars that he also loves. Remember: he said if they cost the same which they don't. BTW: he's also said many times that a lot of the issues with driving an iconic car is every time you stop somewhere, get gas or whatever, you have people coming up to you. I bet you don't get that in the Carrera GT.
To me it's unbelievable how good the F40 still looks to this day considering how old it actually is. It's like they nailed the archetypal supercar look with its design.
Man, when Doug was driving those 2 legendary cars, you can genuinely see the tears in his eyes, you can tell how much of a car lover he is. And he's not just love super cars and expensive sports cars, he also appreciate normal cars you see on the streets everyday, even when reviewing minivans, he's always so passionate and so humble and respectful. I truly wish he can make enough money and buy a Carrera GT for himself as soon as possible, he really deserve it.
That I appreciate with Doug... I certainly can’t say the same for the Soyfan dude from Redline...”the interior materials are very cheap looking and feel that way” WELL THAT’S BECAUSE IT COSTS AROUND $30 GRAND NEW INSTEAD OF YOUR PERSONAL 4 DOOR PORCHE!!!
This is the most beautiful video you have ever done Doug. No matter how many subscribers you have you're still just "one of us" - you feel like one of the guys. I saw the emotion in this video and I felt genuinely happy for you, I hope you get your Carrera GT someday man.
At 10:00 is the moment a childhood dream is realized. That's what being a car guys is about. Doug, I hope you are successful enough one day soon to allow yourself to buy a Carrera GT. I know you're terrified of spending that kind of money, but you'd never lose a dime in depreciation! There's no one more deserving of that car than you.
I don’t get it. We all know he has to have the money. You literally wouldn’t lose a dime on that kind of car. It’s a smart place to park money and accomplish a dream.
yeah, now that he is kinda ditching "more doug demuro" and publishing that style of videos on the main channel it really is making it more enjoyeble imo, these videos might not get as many views as his SUVs reviews but they are really nice for enthusiast
When he gassed the Carrera GT at the end, that was best moment in this channel’s history. The demeanour of determination, the satisfaction, the joy all displayed on his face with the perfect gear changing, just came together in the perfect moment.
One of my favorite things in the world is watching passionate people trying out their "favorites". Of all of Doug's reviews, his reaction while driving the Carrera gt in this video is the most real and true. Man you truly deserve a Carrera GT in your life and one day you will have it in your garage :)
@@04kingyyy I'd choose the most irrational and stupid tbh. I want theatre when driving a car like this. I want to have a smile ear to ear the entire time. I want to remember each and every experience until I die.
I have driven both of these cars. Almost bought the carrera gt and currently own a Porsche gt2. That being said.....the f40 is without a doubt the better car. It’s difficult to explain other than to say that a great porsche is a great car......but a great Ferrari has a soul.
Amazing to see your eyes, truly happy to be in the Carrera GT. I would compare it not with the F40 but with the F50. I checked the performances...the Carrera GT is slightly faster but if you think there are almost 20 years between the two cars it is crazy how fast the F40 was!
it drives properly, is built properly, has logical placement for buttons and controls, that is what he means by rational. The door design you are referring to is a throwback to the old design of the gt40. I don't know what to call you besides a fucking idiot lol.
I think people really should see this video. It is one of the best ones Doug has ever released! Really nice to hear the thoughts, to understand how special these machines are... and the engine sounds! Amazing Human achievements this two cars.
I feel like the added appreciation for the F40 is just the fact that it was around when Doug was a kid, which gives it an extra divine aura. But frankly, the Porsche is probably the most exciting experience you can have in any car, and it's the most exciting experience there ever will be when it comes to analog cars, and Carrera GTs will eventually be more expensive than the F40, because nothing can ever replace it for what it is.
I thought I’m the only one who notices Doug getting teary-eyed in several segments of the video.🥺 I could feel the emotion of a car guy having a firsthand experience on his favorite/dream car.💖 Anyway, it’s nice to see Doug making videos other than in-depth tours and quirks-and-features kind of things. Whoever followed him early on knows he made car videos of different variety. Love to see them coming back on his main channel.☺️
I don't care what you say, that CGT sounds amazing and the F40 sounds like my neighbor's 2010 Honda Civic~ '14 Porsche Cayman S with PDK: 0-60 4.2 seconds, 0-100 10.1 seconds, quarter mile 12.6 @ 115 mph. '92 Ferrari F40: 0-60 4.2 seconds, 0-100 8.3 seconds, quarter mile 12.1 @ 122 mph. On a track the Cayman S and the F40 would be a dead heat, since the Porsche most certainly handles better. '14 Porsche Cayman S used price: $42,000. '92 Ferrari F40 used price: $1,000,000. GREAT video Doug as always!
That's your OPINION. Nothing more. To others, driving automatic is how it's supposed to be. You are the human, you are only needed to tell the car how fast/slow to go, and in what direction. That is all. Mechanically, the car is supposed to do the rest.
I love his expression(s) as he's accelerating in the Carrera GT. He makes the point I keep making, DRIVING a sports car requires a manual transmission. Instead of just pointing the car, you are actually involved in moving the car forward and participating in what's going on to a more in-depth level. I just wish the Corvette C8 would catch on and offer a manual!
Not enough customers would buy one with it to justify to cost of offering one. Are manuals really that great though? Really that important that it makes enjoying the vehicle difficult?
@@OpeoAslam I'm unsure how making something automatic has ever complicated anything? The point is it disconnects one from the experience. I'd compare it to a condom. The difference is negligible however, the experience, not so much. Admittedly, that might that might not be the best analogy.
I'm happy for you Doug! Having the opportunity to drive this cars, it's just amazing. Thank you for your videos, but, this one, is really the special one!
I'm a N/A guy for life, but..... The second the F40 video started it was all goose bumps all over. To see the purity of it, that cloth interior, that beast of an engine burbling in the back oh boy.. Can't think of any othyer car with so much caracter, it's just impossible for me. That's the least stuff you an put between you and the road, it's just obscenely thrilling that thing ..
Yes. The lead engineer of the F40, Nicola Materazzi, had a very clear vision of what a GT car should be. He later criticized Ferrari for going another direction with the F1 gearbox and few other stuff he didn’t like. Now, the analog driving experience can be topped off with NA cars such as the F50, Pagani Zonda and the best of all, the Mclaren F1.
All the car experts and magazines say the Maclaren F1 is the greatest car ever made and I'm surprised that no one has ever done a comparison between the F1, Carrera GT, and F40
@William Jefferson dude, please dont lecture me.. he is the closest i ever heard an american say porsche.. most just say "porsh" of course you can hear its not a german saying it, but its close enough, and i appreciate his effort.. that was all i am saying.. stop your negativity
huh? Just google italian car show in your continent. Just a private owners show, they love to show off. next time it is on, travel there. Tip: get there early and you will hear the engines run
Same. I live in Poorsville, USA and the only car I've seen over 80K on the road was a newer 911, driven by someone who commuted nearly 120 miles each day to work at the Porsche dealership. My MR2 Spyder might as well be a Ferrari.
My first ever track day was in 2005 at Thunderhill. I had built a supercharged 4.7L 2004 Tundra pickup lowered with a 5-link coil-over rear suspension, I would up on track with TWO Carrera GTs. One of them the guy said he'd dumped a couple hundred grand in modifications into. Quite the epic day.
Doug, this is my second favorite video to the LFA video, coming from an OG Doug Demuro fan. When you give us real, emotional reactions when you are driving the car, you create an immediate connection with all of us. We would have the same reactions! I’ve had a couple. Keep it up, Doug!!
The debate as to which is the best supercar ever between the Carrera GT and the F40 is like a debate as to which is the best housepet between a cat and a bird. Such a comparison cannot be made without considering the McLaren F-1 (or the dog).
Doug is the only guy I've seen on RU-vid to drive that Carrera GT and shift properly. Everybody else shifts the damn car like a granny or like they are just learning to drive a stick shift talking about the clutch is this and the clutch is that. Just drive the damn car!!! God job Doug.
