Make sure u use sealant to protect the finish. I just use 2k sand paper then compound and follow with polish. Finish with good sealant or ceramic spray coating.

Excellent information. I purchased some cheap ones for my 997 but have not put them on yet. Thinking again now. I have had very good luck with cheap struts on my BMWs, however its probably not worth the risk if it pops off at the wrong time and messes up the bodyworks or hinges etc.

Would love to see a Boxster restoration - it’s the same general platform, so would be interesting for us Cayman owners as well as a wider audience.

I would love so much for you to get the 986 Boxster since they sold millions of the basterds an there getting old now in need of maintenance...your subscribers should hit upwards substantially....lots of little things go wrong with them but not to bad enough to leave you on the road side...I should know as I own 2 of them....

Almost had a seizure when you lost that screwdriver 😳 I've always used blankets to put around the area of potential disaster and those shock clips I've had good luck using a seal pick to remove them the control factor is better. I've learned when working on expensive cars especially if its not mine. Better safe than sorry.

A few companies sell vinyl trim kits that fix that burnt headlight problem. They're pretty cheap and look reasonably OEM: kistudios.com/product/porsche-cayman-987-headlight-trim/

986 is a great idea if you can pull it off without much financial risk, it's one of the greatest driving experience bargains just because those headlights and interior aren't the prettiest.
