The original Porsche Cayman S is a delight to drive and offers a different experience to the 911 not an inferior one. They aren’t as expensive or as powerful but driving isn’t about price and power. For me, it’s about how a car feels and this one feels sublime. Handling is the biggest factor for me and I also think the cayman looks lovely in its own right.
I love the 911 and if I had £100K to get a really nice turbo I would but I’d keep the Cayman not trade it. As things stand now in 2023 I’d be looking at an older 911 for around £50K. When I buy a car I have to be able to afford any level of maintenance and for that reason the Cayman S is a car I can comfortably afford which means a lot to me. Beautiful cars so enjoy and let’s keep them on the road!
I believe these cars need regular driving and maintenance not sitting for weeks at a time. The only downside to these cars is the noise in the cabin on a long journey. Mine is one of the most comfortable cars I’ve driven and I’ve driven dozens of luxury cars. I’m 6 ft 2 and broad so it’s not cramped. Truth is though it’s at its best on short, summer evening drives with nothing on the road. BTW when I can comfortably afford a nearly new 911 turbo I’ll do a review and prove I’ve kept the Cayman. Love this car.
