Awesome vid, man! I've had my '78 SC for almost a year now and I've been having an issue with hunting at idle (900-1100 RPM) and bucking at certain RPM ranges while driving. I can't, for the life of me, find where the issue is, so I've been checking everything air/fuel related one by one. Thanks for the upload.
@@Breitwerks I leaned out the mixture a bit and the idle seems to be pretty stable now. I'm still having issues with bucking/surging at certain rpm ranges though. It isn't as bad now but the problem still persists. Thanks again for the tip!
@BreitWerks Haven't had too much time to tinker with the car lately, but I did manage to poke around a bit today. I found that the injectors on every cylinder but 2 and 3 have a bit of play in them; those two are solid. The other four, however, I can wiggle around a decent amount. I still plan on checking plugs, wires, and timing, but I'm fairly certain this is the culprit. I appreciate your guidance/knowledge! Cheers!
thanx for posting this. knowing that these are "staked" was really helpful. doubt you can remove these little buggers without removing the runner. (at least not easily) thanx again. steve
I want to do this, but the sanding off those factory stakes scares the hell out of me. One slip and you render the intake runner useless, and getting another might be a huge pain in the neck. Ugh...going to have to do it sooner than later
It is unlikely that you will be able to remove the ceramic holder with the intake still on the engine. Sorry, I know that's not what you wanted to hear. You can pull the injector and replace the o-ring on it. Just not the inner oring in the ceramic holder.
Hello - thank you for posting. I‘m just about to replace injectors on my 930, could you help with a part number for the outer seals ? I‘m struggling to find a reference number or source for these outer seals. Thank you
The 930 injectors thread/screw into the injector blocks between the manifold and the head. There is no “outer seal”. There is a copper crush washer that you can replace but they are usually ok to reuse after cleaning them up.
