What is UP RU-vid, welcome to Fred's Full Throttle! I'm finally back home for a while, and have a lot to share with you!
For those who haven't been following along, last week I went to the Porsche Experience Center (aka PEC) in Atlanta, and rented 2 Porsche 911's back to back. I drove the 992 Turbo S, and then the 992 GT3. This week I'm going to share a full overview of what an experience at PEC is like, and some tips if you decide to go yourself. Then in coming weeks, interspersed with my other videos about Corvettes, I'll be doing some deeper videos about each car, how they compare to each other, and how they compare to the C7 Grand Sport. There are a few things that really surprised me which I look forward to sharing. Lastly, I'll share my current thoughts on the C8 Z06 versus these cars, and if this changes anything in my future plans. Stay tuned, everything just got a whole lot more interesting!

GREAT VIDEO! I live in Atlanta & had the great pleasure to have a tour of the PEC. I haven't had the opportunity to do any of the courses yet. If I ever purchase a new Porsche I will be taking delivery there! Living here in ATL I think it would be a must. Again great video, keep up the good work!

Hi Sterling111, Nice to hear from you! Thanks for the kind words! In some of my upcoming videos I'll be talking specifically about the 2 cars I drove. I HIGHLY recommend trying PEC if you get the chance, you will have an absolute blast. I agree, if I ever purchase a new one, I'd take delivery there. Thanks for reaching out, I appreciate the support! -Fred

Hi T Michael, I can't recommend it highly enough. It was incredible. Put another way, I'm going to go again in 2024 (when the new track i mentioned is fully done and the new facilities are built). It was truly driving paradise. I hope you give it a try and see what it's like for yourself. If you do, let me know what you think! -Fred

I did the PEC at Silverstone UK in a 991.1 C4S for my 40th a few years ago. Absolutely fantastic car and experience. And today I own a 981 Cayman S. 😎

That's awesome Jacobs_Rifles! I suspect that these trips to PEC will ultimately be pretty costly for me in the long run.....now I've got the urge.... :) Have a great day, and thanks for reaching out! -Fred

Fred, welcome back and glad you got some well-deserved R&R. This looks like a fantastic event that I would love to have this experience in the future. I really enjoyed the Ron Fellows academy in NV, and this seems to be equally enjoyable and memorable. Great to have you back!

Hi Lorenzo! Thanks man! It was a truly amazing experience, and I'll definitely be headed back there for the new track once it's open. I've heard nothing but great things about Ron Fellows, seems like something I should check out. My buddies and I are already talking about "what next?". A few things from the list are a rally academy up in VT (WRX's on dirt closed course), and an open wheel (F1 style) driving experience. Fun to mix up my normal stuff with things like this from time to time. Have a great weekend man (sorry for the slow reply, had somewhere around 150 comments to sift through, and still have a lot to go)! -Fred

Hey Zach, My apologies I don't remember offhand, though maybe we said a quick hello or something. Either way, glad you got to experience it, what an amazing place! Sorry if I got the damage waiver amount wrong, either way, I highly recommend it. Yeah, GT3 alley was amazing, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. 9 or 10 of the hardest cars in the country to get an allocation for, all in one spot, super casual. :) Have a nice day, thanks for reaching out! -Fred

Great video Fred. Man that PEC experience sounds just outrageously good. It’s amazing, I learn so much from your videos about cars. How do you manage to get yourself familiarized about Porsches and corvettes and everything in between. Great stuff as usual.

Really appreciate it man! I'm going to be going back in 2024 (once the other track is completed). I'll include you on the short invite list if you're interested. :) To answer your question, it's one of those "if you love it, and are interested in it, it's easy to learn about it" type things. I LOVE cars, but LOVE LOVE Porsche, and I just read every possible thing I can about it. New, old, technology, driving, basically any topic I can get my hands on. Since I enjoy this stuff, it just sticks in my head somehow lol. Have a great weekend man, nice to hear from you! -Fred

@@FredsFullThrottle I'd say so, I love exhaust sounds so not sure I could've but Porsche has so many nice colors. I do not fit in his green huracan performante at all at 6'6", thats a bummer but he has a b5 blue hellcat charger, a hydro blue trx, silver Nissan gtr, red gt500, and I think that's it, he changes them around so much, the gtr may be gone. All I have is my indigo redeye charger while waiting for my Z06. I wouldve got a stingray if I knew it was going to be such a long wait. Getting a rapid Z06 for me and he's getting torch red Z06 since he already has so many blues he said, lol.

Sounds and looks like you had an amazing time. This is probably the first I have heard someone talk with such enthusiasm about a brand of vehicles that sets the bar so high as to the capabilities of one’s they in fact get to drive. Truly an Adult Disneyland! E-Ticket Ride for sure. (I’m going back to the 70s Ride Ticket Name at Disney for the top rides. Back then, it wasn’t one price admission. You got a book of tickets and you surely didn’t want to waste the E-Ticket on something stupid!!!) Well bought sir! An Experience of a Lifetime!!! It’s too bad these vehicles are so hard to get as well as expensive, but then to buy one and need to tack on ADM of $150-$200+ on top. WOW Pretty happy with my new C8 and that I got it at MSRP. I have a hard time anymore considering the purchase of any car that doesn’t have a dealership near me. I have a BMW that I need to drive almost 50 miles to have any work performed. So, if it breaks down, call AAA I guess? Only 11,000 miles no the clock, but eventually, something will fail. Will look forward to your comparison of the Grand Sport and Porsche

Nice job Fred..definitely put on my list. I did look on Groupon for a discount. They said "pending". So once your in the car it's 45 min of driving, no breaks. Also it looks like they wouldn't let you guys switch cars. I think I'm going to look on Turo and see what's available to rent and then head there after the additions. The mule "rear kicker" looked very cool..
@FredsFullThrottle
@FredsFullThrottle 2 года назад
Hi Thereissomecoolstuff! For most rentals it's 90 minutes of driving (no stops). For mine, it was 45 in each car, because I rented 2 cars as part of a 90 min program. You can also rent any specific model and do "extra hours" for as much time as you'd like. Additionally if you want to do more than 2 cars, I suggest calling and they can likely setup a custom driving program for you. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. Essentially you can do anything you'd like to do, you just have to set it up ahead of time with scheduling. You can't change between cars ad-hoc though, as all the cars brought to the line are reserved for other guests. Hope this helps! -Fred

@@FredsFullThrottle helps a lot. Thinking getting there early was great advice. 45 min is a long time tracking. Driver after driver. Porsche makes a good car.

Hi Fred, thanks for another good video. What course did you like the best? I think the 1 mile handling course looked cool. When you get your Z06 you will have to go to Spring Mountain to do a comparison. Looking forward to your upcoming series of videos. Should be interesting...
@FredsFullThrottle
@FredsFullThrottle 2 года назад
Sorry for the tremendous delay, I've been wading through mountains of comments (a good problem to have!) and finally getting to some that I hadn't gotten a chance to action. Thanks for the patience HaveBlue! The main handling course was really good, because it was a mix of everything. The quick series of turns in the back was fun (and super challenging at speed), while the front sweeper by the building was great for stretching the cars' legs, getting some G-forces, and hearing the howl of the engines. I think the most fun part for me was actually the launch control area in the turbo, and the low friction handling circuit in the GT3. The launch control is totally bonkers (as I'm sure you saw in my next video after this one), and the low friction course is a blast to be sliding the cars around (and the GT3 ate it all right up). Have a nice day! - Fred

Kudos Fred! Like I have said before, Porsche Turbo S was on my list before I switched to the Z06. With cost of $285K vs $150K respectively, plus I understand service cost on the Porsche is considerably higher, I decided on the Z06. With that said, I think I will get together with my sons and go to the Porsche track. The BMW experience here is nothing compared to what you experienced with Porsche.
@FredsFullThrottle
@FredsFullThrottle 2 года назад
Hi Sully! Now having driven the Turbo S.....I have a lot of conflicted thoughts. The biggest one is the difference in price to be honest. Even used is out of reach for me with the market the way it is right now. However, I have no regrets, the experience was easily the most fun I've had in a car on track. I highly highly recommend it, and think you'll have a blast. I'm interested in doing a BMW experience, however I agree with you, I don't think it can/would touch this, and for the money I would pick Porsche 10 times out of 10. If you decide to do it, let me know what you think, I'd be interested to hear since you've got time in Corvette's (big HP ones at that) on the track. -Fred

PECATL looks much bigger than PECLA. Got invited to drive the taycan turbo s was a great experience although I wish I could have driven the gt3 or turbo s models. Looks like you had a great time 👍
@FredsFullThrottle
@FredsFullThrottle 2 года назад
Hi Daniel S, I've looked at the maps for both, but it's hard to say which looks bigger (to me at least). However, with PEC adding that greatest hits track I mentioned in the video, when that's complete, I think it will be significantly larger. I bet that Taycan Turbo S acceleration was something else! Definitely try out the Turbo S or the GT3 (or both!) if you get another chance. Have a nice day! -Fred

How do i get in to just look around like the first clip and the mini museum and garage
@FredsFullThrottle
@FredsFullThrottle Год назад
Hi Eduardo, Thanks for reaching out! I think you have to do a rental/driving experience in order to. There isn't a cost for the museum, but I'm sure the fee for the driving experiences probably covers what they would/could have charged. Alternatively, there may be an option to either visit the restaurant (Restaurant 356), or the simulator labs as a less expensive way, or potentially maybe they can let you in just to see the museum/garage. I had great luck when I called, versus the info on the website, so my recommendation would be to call and say you'd like to see the museum, and how can they make that happen. Good luck! -Fred
