So excited to bring more exclusive content to the AMMO Studio Channel soon! In the meantime, here are some of my favorite videos and deep dives from the past. Thanks for your continued support :)
This is a Porsche GT2 Wing in Carbon Fiber that has solvent-pop issues and is in need of a thorough compound and polish. The question is, "Does it need to be wet sanded?" and if so, what the best method to safely sand CF without knowing the depth of the clear coat? I asked my good friend Jason Rose for his expertise. Hope you enjoy and visit ammonyc.com/ for videos, detailing products, trainings, blogs, exclusives, and more...

the lifetime of knowledge in Jason's head is impressive. Larry, you have incredible skills so for you to go to Jason shows him a ton of respect.

Larry, I just absolutely love how despite you being such a detailing guru, you remain teachable and share that aspect of your being with us. Great content but even better principles that honestly apply to life in general and are so lacking in the world we live in. Thanks brother.

Jason always provides me with a personal “Duh” moment guaranteed. Great tip on using the vacuum when there’s no compressed air. Excellent content as always!

I would highly recommend getting a pad washer! The compressed air and vacuum methods are rough on the pad and don't do a particularly stellar job. Besides compressed air blows stuff everywhere lol. Hope this helps!

@@tier1detailcompany how is that pad washer works?
@tier1detailcompany
@tier1detailcompany 2 года назад
@@vincentmiano342 the pad washer is the best thing I've purchased in a long time. It has a mixture of water and a cleaning solution. After using it the pad is brand new clean. No residue unlike blowing out the pad which still leaves residue and has degraded pad performance. Also no dust mess all over the shop and in your lungs. It's honestly amazing to me that more detailers don't use a pad washer.

I remember this project very well as I was at Detailer’s Domain for their open house. You were running around looking for Meguiars microfiber pads when you were compounding the top side of the carbon fiber wing!

I wouldn't necessarily say that hand sanding is more aggressive, it can be, but the issue with sanding marks was due to your technique. You need overlapping sessions at 45 degrees to the last.

Thanks the lesson and tips ! 🙂 But I think in some casses, detailing is just not worth it. Look at here how much time and efforts have been spent. As the wing is already removed from the car. Don't you think sanding it down and just respray a new clear-coat would have been quicker and cheaper ?

absolute facts. if ammo needs to charge accordingly for his time invested than it only makes sense to re clear & not run the risk of losing to much clear when polished. re clear & properly protect it with plastic from the start

The defect on the carbon fiber is the resin and clear reacting to heat from polishing.

There's two types of people in this world: Those who look at a car and see how shiny and beautiful it looks, and then those who will find the miniscule defect somewhere on that car and refuse to see anything else until it's gone.

Larry does a great job in his instruction, explanations and chosen regimen in all his videos. Viewers can find answers to their real world questions and benefit from Larry’s knowledge at their convenience. We should all be grateful but at the same time be careful. Larry makes it look easy because he has years of experience, has learned from his mistakes and has never stopped learning. He will tell you the same thing when it comes to paint correction, detailing etc., what separates the amateur from the professional is not the machines, products, or videos viewed; it’s ‘Professional Training’ by industry leading instructors. Investing in yourself by completing paid course work & hands on training is the only way to take yourself to the next level of your career/skill set. RU-vid is great but it doesn’t make you a professional. And as a professional you must be willing to learn from others at anytime; just as Larry does. Right when you think he has to know everything there is; he shares a humbling moment of a lesson learned. Great video Larry!

do you think it would be easier for an average honda civic bro who doesn't normally do polishing to just lightly hand sand it down or even scotch brite it and then spray it with rattle can clear coat to make it shiny but not damage the integrity of the part underneath

Great ep and relevant as I've got a carbon motorbike front guard with plenty of solvent pop (and other issues). Interesting to know how to deal with it in future although this piece is going to be a strip and re-clear to get it perfect. ;)
