Elevation was 4500ft in this race. At elevation NA cars lose power 3% every 1000ft while Turbos compensate with electronic wastegate adjustment to target the same boost level needed by the engine. So the GT3 in this video was making no more than 430HP while the 992 C4S was still making full power. So the outcome make sense once you factor everything. If you listen to the GT3 at the topend of each gear you can hear how much its struggling to pull in that thinner air. Science and Physics wins in this case
pretty sure a 992 4S is still going to take a GT3 from a dig on lower elevation. There really is no way that the NA engine and RWD can keep up with AWD and a fuck ton of torque and HP at such a low RPM.
Race Fanatic true but not as much, also it depends on the turbo efficiency and if it can compensate. If you are maxing out your turbo at sea level, you would lose even more power than 1% at 1000ft. Most standard cars that are not modified will have some room to allow the PCM to compensate the lost boost at higher elevation until it goes over the efficiency range of the Turbos.
I have 992 c4s and just yesterday one brand new Lamborghini huracin tried to race me I swear to god I felt like he was driving Prius was not matching the 992 c4s at all I don’t what was the hurican but it’s not sto for sure but yet the gab was huge
This is my current dilemma! I test drove the Gt3 and a 991 Turbo and although the Gt3 was slower it was far more fun and far more engaging. The turbo was just a supper fast limo and actually disappointing. That sound and revving to 9000rpm for the Gt3 wakes the soul!! The 992 c4s would be a great every day sports car for similar money and could be fun as a convertible. First world problems. 🤔

I know this is an old thread but I wasn't surprised. I had a 2018 GT3 and raced a stock 991.2 C4S and it was dead even for the first half of the quarter and lost out the end. One tune and I knew it was gonna beat the GT3. Now I have 992 turbo S which is totally dumbed down my porsche as a track car. thanks for video fellas.
When he buried the nose of the GT3 in the gravel and inch or two deep and then joked about it, told me everything I needed to know about this channel...Hard Cringe.
That blue is just so beautiful..but I'm honestly let down once again seeing people using the GT3 in a drag race when it's performance shines on the track
We’ve got some track days coming your way! Getting access to a track is much more difficult than long straight roads so we tend to get more drag content, but we have been hitting the track and have some content from that coming soon!
If the 992 Carrera 4S does this, I can't imagine what the 992 GT2 RS would do. Those engineers at Porsche sure know how to make a race car. Just as I thought the 991 was them perfecting things.
Obviously you need to swap cars rather than assuming the S driver was a better driver. Easy enough to find out if that was true. Claiming the S driver is so much better without swapping cars is just dumb.

Nice comparison! There’s the altitude issue someone comment before, it seems cold out there and the GT3 Cup2 tires struggles at low temps and finally the obvious awd advantage. I think the 992 Carrera S would be a better match, but on that day it was a clear victory for the 4S!
lol yes the GT2 would win.. Good video, just what I wanted to see as I am in the market for a 4S, nice to see against the GT3, the GT3 engine sound is amazing, but I need AWD for winter driving...
Not surprising at all. People need to understand the GT3 is normally aspirated and while that means great exhaust sound it cannot compete with a turbocharged engine. The CS is a superior machine for 99% of the driving most people do. The GT3 is better on certain types of tracks, that and better sound of the exhaust. Even on most tracks most people will beat the GT3 with their CS.
that was good launch from a gt3 and everything but the 4s blew it away, i think at 170 the gt3 would come back at the carrera but i think the carrera 4s is underrated for how fast it is
So... The Carrera 4s is quicker than the GT3 and sounds WAY better than the 911 Turbo S... What can you say except amazing car... Ultimate sportscar for the money...

Flat six over a puny turbo engine any day of the week. In a real scenario even driving on freeways or highways your going to need to manoeuvre around cars so the Gt3 wins. And on track....no comment! Between me and my bro we have three porsches, 992 4S PDK with aero kit, 991.1 2S PDK and a 997.2 manual with aero kit. I can tell you the 992 is the least thrilling car out of them and the 991 the best thrill.

PDK launch control in auto is almost idiot proof. You have to be an idiot to mess it up. Hard Foot on brake, Foot on gas all way down, see the Launch Control initialized and get off Brake and hold on to steering both hands. 4s just grips better and should win almost all the time with half decent driver
