Interesting to hear your thoughts on this! I certainly wouldn't kick a GT4 RS out of bed but I genuinely do prefer the cleaner, simpler lines of the GT4 from an aesthetic point of view. I hope you haven't ruined your GT4 experiences from now onwards now that you have had a taste of the RS.
Great vid mate. Think you really hit the nail on the head with the conclusion. I’ve always been a 911 fan, and being honest, I’ve never been that bothered about the Cayman… the GT4 changed that for me , and the RS pushed that further still. I would have one over a GT3, and pretty much every car to be fair! What a weekend. As you say definitely one to remember!
I can imagine it's "tough" getting back into your GT4 after driving that for a few days but it does make you think how beautiful and less busy the GT4 is when parked next to the 4RS. Really enjoyed the video!!
Best GT4RS ‘review’ out there mate! I think the reason why the Porsche GB Press car is ‘only’ specced to £130k is because when the 4RS was released the RRP was c.£108k, now it starts at c.£123k….still a bargain though!
Yes! Been waiting for this video. I much rather a GT4RS as well over a GT3, but I will say my only gripe with the GT4RS is the rear is stylistically too similar to a base cayman than a GT3 is to a base 911. It just looks like an aftermarket wing and diffuser plopped on. Other than that, perfection.
I thereby support your channel with my subscription. There are not too much in between the Porsche models, they are highly competent sports cars with impeccable craftsmanship and performance. I drive the most underrated base Cayman 987.2 which I find very capable manly within the legal limits and above, they are not night and day in between except in extreme circumstances such as GT4 v Base. I would like to see a comprehensive comparison of all Cayman models. Thanks.
The Sound!!! Great to see you in this chap - yellow suits you 😂 The intakes just look insane - wasn’t aware of the engine and difference - the last hurrah? Let’s hope not 😅
How many more years will they build the GT4RS. I don't think it is a limited car. The GT4RS is dropping a bit in the USA they are under $279,000. Use to be $315,000.... Like love the sound. Love the car. it may be a bit cheaper in the next 8 months. I had a brand new build offered to me from a dealership in USA and it was $50,000 over.
6:56 can you feel it on the road? OH YES, YOU CAN, pretty easy. I can compare my old 991.1 GTS (430HP) against my 991.2 GT3, this is absolut a different league, how the engine revs and performs ;-)
You're thinking about it wrong - if you have to think in terms of money you're not really a buyer. Very few RS owners or indeed GT3 owners will pay over MSRP - they are often long term Porsche customers who have had positions in place with dealers well before (years) before the release of a specific model. Moreover, a lot of RS owners will have multiple vehicles inc. high end cars from other manufacturers, often built to a spec for them and own them for different reasons e.g. like a piece of art or they are interested in a blend of technology. Moreover, its rarely about HP its more about the overall experience. Many will simply buy and enjoy an RS as a track toy - simply to chase their own PBs. Personally, I don't consider the 992 GT3 a better car than the 718 GT3 RS - in fact the the 992 GT3 is a toned down facsimile of the 991.2 GT3 RS which is a far more engaging car. A lot of people prefer the 718GT3 RS over the 992 GT3 for many good reasons. The modern 911s are only good if they have rear axle steering, if they don't they are quite blunt instruments.
Yeah…the racer styling, the price, the unusable street limits and not so dissimilar looks, doesn’t add up to needing a GT4RS. I can and will probably trade up at some point to a GT3 just because…it’s different
It's not £150k more though. That's just the current retail price but based on new list prices they aren't that much more. What I'm saying is your never going to 150k worth of difference. Personally I'd just buy a 16 plat 911 gt3 rs
great video but don’t think you can be so scientific about the value and analyse 100k worth or 150k worth more, it’s sooo personal. Personally i would lose a limb to have the RS, currently i will settle for 4 limbs and a GTS4
Oh 100% agree Jon! But like I said, it’s all relative. Money needs to be taken into account as that ultimately helps factor if a car is “worth” it. If you’ve got 250k to splash, 4rs is just 1 of many cars you’d be considering… & keep your limbs too 😂
After living with the GT4RS for 10 months now, I am more interested in trying a GT4 PDK to compare. Hell, I’m even looking at base Boxsters now as I really love the platform. Before the GT4RS I wasn’t looking at 718’s having had 11 different 911’s over the years, except for the lovely Boxster GTS. I do like the gruff sounding 2,5 turbo with the roof down. I too find the 911 GT3 kinda boring now, especially since the 992 generation wich is more like a Bentley Continental to me. Just a big GT car.
