Just a quick "Thank You" x1000 for presenting this information. I've commented on many of your videos in the rebuild of my Carrera 3.2 and on Thanksgiving '22 I buttoned it up and started the engine for the first time. I'm amazed. I followed your guidance in all those videos to the letter from using the dial bore gauges, setting cam timing and sealing the case. My result is a strong engine that doesn't leak and runs fantastic even through I'm still in the break-in at the moment. For a first timer this was the hardest project I've ever done, but by far the most rewarding. Again I can't thank you enough and I plan on spending the rest of my life enjoying this car thoroughly.

NO washers on the exhaust studs😳?
@klassikats
@klassikats 3 года назад
That correct, NO washers on exhaust manifolds... There is no room and no need for washers and from the factory washers were never used. Thanks for watching Kurt

Kurt are those M8 12 mm copper exhaust nuts self locking or just plain threads ? Most of the ones I see are oval or self locking which seems like a bad idea when it comes time to get them off. Thanks

Kevin, They are self locking and I must admit in the last 30 years of using them I have never had an issue taking them off. Because the studs are so short and there is not enough room for any type of locking washer. So you really need to use a locking type nut. Just the expansion and contracting of the exhaust due to the thermal cycles is enough to cause a non locking nut to work loose over time. Kurt
