Amazing video, thank you very much. I own a 992 GTS with PDK box and was struggling to understand how a distance sensor works until I have seen this video. Pure gold!

Your videos are great! Will be very helpful for my future 981 S/GTS or 718 GTS 4.0. I have the 981 "Service Repair Workshop Manual" with the 3206 pages already. My dream is to have workshop like yours on day, but in the austrian alps. 🙂

Firstly, I'd like to tell you thank you for your amazing content! I have a 2014 Panamera 4 and I originally had codes P1733 & P1734 indicating a faulty distance sensor. I replaced it with one from ebay. The car ran fine for two weeks and out of the blue, it started giving P1870 PDK internal fault and P1765-Gear disengagement lock. Based on your videos, I suspect that the sensor I bought is faulty.

I don't have any experience on the Panamera transmission, but I can't believe that it's too different. I'd be interested in knowing if another sensor fixes the problem. Did you do a calibration afterwards? If you haven't seen the video I released lately on calibrations I'd suggest looking at it.

​​​@@jeffrichardsoncardiyI had a calibration done by a local dealer. The technical said It took four attempts before the calibration would complete. Even afterwards it would intermittently lose reverse and only shift odd numbered forward gears (1-3-5-7). Also, limp mode will only occur after the transmission reaches full operating temperature or about 20-30 minutes of driving. After an hour sitting, the codes can be cleared and the car is drivable once again. I have a Launch x431 pro scan tool that can watch the live data stream but I didn't understand what the values were supposed to be until I found your channel. I ordered another sensor and hopefully that one is good otherwise I will have to buy one direct from Porsche. The information in your videos is invaluable. Thank you again and I'll follow up once I install the new sensor.

@@MrBdavis99 Keep me in the loop. I'm interested in the outcome. I'm not sure if you have the ability to test the old sensor like I did in the video once it's removed, but I'd be interested in what you find.

​@@jeffrichardsoncardiy Success! So I finally bought a new Distance sensor from a local Porsche dealer. I installed it and it immediately threw a fault code P1764. I then ran the calibration several times before it successfully completed. Afterwards, I drove the car for 30 miles with zero faults. The car is fixed. Thank you fit helping me understand the functionality of the sensor and the pdk gearbox.

Sir, I have question about oil temperature inside the PDK What is normal oil temperature inthe gearbox? What is too high (when driving on track) thanks

any reason this does not apply to the Panamera’s equipped with a pdk? I understand the configuration and goals is different but wouldn’t porsche use similar things inside that transmission instead of redesigning for a non flagship model

You can't. Only aftermarket sensors are available. Part availability is one of the major issues with the transmission, as Porsche's solution to most problems is to buy a new transmission.
