"Yokohama Gangster Paradise"
Higuchi Ichuyou requests help from the agency to deal with some smugglers. Kunikida warns Atsushi about someone named Akutagawa, a member of Port Mafia. Higuchi reveals herself as a member of Port Mafia and attacks Naomi. Junichirō retaliates with his ablilty "Light Snow" but is defeated when Akutagawa appears. Atsushi transforms into the tiger and both battle until Dazai shows up and cancels both powers with "No Longer Human" revealing he saw through Higuchi's act. Akutagawa reveals that Dazai used to be a member of Port Mafia

Great reaction!! About the Tanizaki siblings: Naomi comes from Junichiro's book of the same name. In said book there are two lovers that pretend to be siblings, hence Atsushi's concern about how they "don't look alike". Their relationship isn't clarified in the whole series, so expect more of that weird dinamic between both. Also, Akutagawa's power, Rashoumon (based on his book by the same name), consists in that he can control any fabric in contact with his body (in this case, his coat), but only one piece of clothing at a time. Hope it clears things out!

What's the benefit of leaving random phrases untranslated? "Jinko" doesn't mean anything to an English-speaking audience.

@@mikkosimonen Because it's Akutagawa's catch phrase and it sounds cool in Japanese? lol I wasn't making an actual point dude, I was making a joke because he says Jinko so much and in the fandom... it's a bit of a character tick. Fanfics know what I'm talking about lol.

The people on Patreon probably already told u this but since I had the same issue when I first started watching and want to make sure this is more clarified since it annoyed me that I couldn't figure out what I was saying wrong: because the romanized version of あくたがわ is spelt Akutagawa, a lot of people pronounce it literally- "aKUtagawa", but in Japanese a lot of characters are cut short and not pronounced fully, so it's actually more like "ack-tah-gahwa" instead. Idk if this makes sense or even helps at all but I felt like leaving it here

I think the key is to put the stress on the right syllable, that being the first one, A. That way the KU isn't over-emphasized.

additional fact: naomi, tanizaki junichiro's (if i spelled it right) sister, is one of the author's (yeah, tanizaki junichiro) titular character (that means "naomi" is literally the title of the book) in one of his books. so naomi's the only one in the group (as far as i know) who's not based on an author. sick.

I had the exact same reaction when I found out about Dazai’s former occupation lol anddd as always thank youuu for your reaction!, I have to say that this show might be kinda boring at first bc you’re meeting the characters and the plot is getting built but it gets really good, I promise (and I’m just on season 1 ep 11, there’s a lot more to go)

great reaction as always~ i'd like to clear some things up concerning the tanizaki siblings; there is a strong indication that they are not actually siblings if you pay attention to the real life tanizaki juunichiro's works. Naomi is inspired by one of Junichiro's works of the same name, and in the book it details two lovers that pretend to be siblings in order to hide their relationship from their friends. i understand your discomfort with these two as i was the same upon first watching, so to ease you they do not show up very often in the series. side characters ~ looking forward to your upcoming bsd reactions, i've been practically waiting for these ones all week lol and the content didnt disappoint me! take caree

They are not blood siblings..... Naomi is a book written by tanizaki( writer) ... In the book two lovers pretend to be siblings in front of their friends..

I fucking hate that. He deserves so much more and his potential is way bigger than that. I mean he is my fav character but aside from that I think he is pushed down. Every fight he had was like "Meh" because he's written weaker than he could be. How many times did he slice through someone just for them being fine???
