Wow this game is like playing WarioWare while having a panic attack

Pretty cool you can see the bruised thumbs at the end implying they were forced to play for a period of time

I think what's happening is that the "Porta" company made a high power VR device with two versions, one of them the expensive normal one, and the other completely free but designed to use your brain as a processor(because brains are actually pretty much equivalent to computers, albeit ones that work on a very different design philosophy) to mine cryptocurrency in the background of your play session. That led to them gaining a lot of money because now they have infinite processing power, and they even give some of their money to the people that took the free version of the device, essentially turning playing games into their jobs. So they're youtubers without the fame, though they could potentially be youtubers while playing the Portaboy, doing two jobs for the price of one. Issue is that, like with computers, your brain can be overloaded, overheated, and (unlike a computer) has plasticity(that means the brain will rewire itself if it's constantly doing one task in order to be better at that task). The protagonist's played the game so much that his/her brain is overworked and possibly even physically changing. It might be because of a malfunction of the device, or simply because they actually treated the thing like their primary form of entertainment AND job, but they've not logged off recently or spent most of their time playing, and thus they stretched their brain so thin that they start to hallucinate. Now this part is probably not intended, but the hallucinations they have seem like they're demonifying the game console, which seems like a brain defence mechanism. Like with many psychiatric disorders, brains usually malfunction to protect you from what they consider a danger, whether or not it's actually a danger. In this case, the very real danger is the Portaboy itself, and thus your subconscious wants you to get the f**k out of the simulation. Obviously the helping hand getting you out isn't as realistic, but that's probably supposed to be your subconscious giving you a way out. With the warnings Portaboy seems to be giving though, it seems more like an accident or mistake on the protagonist's part than the company being pure evil. They give a lot of money on top of making their device free, and put more warnings than legally required with regular intervals of forced pausing. They seem like a suprisingly ethical company considering they're literally using their consumers' brains as computers to mine cryptocurrency. They're not exactly saints, but it seems like they've made their method of making money as light on their conscience as humanly possible.

Good balance of creepy imagery, believable Warioware-like games, easter eggs that require thinking but don't go too far with being cryptic, and just a solid presentation throughout.

How can Manly be good at ANY mini-game? I think he can beat ALL Stardew Valley mini-games easily

Lumpy is a real emerging talent. And a perfect fit for this channel because Manly has the patience to find all secrets in a game, the sense of humour to enjoy the silly parts, and the class to complete things without showing frustration or being mean about anyone's games, no matter how amateurish. If anyone wants more from Lumpy, check out the current Waltuh White Gameboy'd animations. They just keep escalating and they're so funny.

The sight of someone just sitting in a dark corner calmly playing with a cursed gameboy and whipping out a shotgun real quick to kill monsters before continuing to play like nothing happened is extremely funny to me

I like how this game starts off as unnerving when you first get to the whole shoot em up part but after that it pretty much turns it a rage game

That moment when the game gave you a gun ended up making you more paranoid.

This game feels as if someone found out how to code a panic attack and did not hold back at all in making that a reality. Holy heck just watching this is stressfull!

I think the protagonist who was playing this game was starting to have nightmares about his unhealthy addiction of video games. It’s gotten so bad that the games are starting to haunt him and want him to continue playing. However, he found the energy to wake up in the end… after getting the seemingly unachievable score of fifty points.

I am glad Lumpy Touch has gained a partner with Enchae. Great leap from his meme works. The aesthetics were superb, no change there. However, the motions of his art did need a balance of squash and stretch. The smaller animations made it more obvious. The large monsters were baroque and hyper-detailed but here animation has a purpose.

This just makes me wish that Lumpy turned his "Are you winning son?" video into an actual game.

If I had to take a guess at the story this game is trying to tell, it's about the "playing games as a job" concept that's starting to become a real issue through things like NFTs. The idea that a game is no longer a game but a job that you have to do every day just to make a living or else. It's no longer about having fun or enjoying a good story, but a genuine 9 to 5 where you have to grind doing the same shit day after day to pay the bills and eat. This game shows a dystopian future where this idea has been taken to the most extreme.

I believe this game is a metaphor or an allegory for how obsessive some gamers get, like the game is their whole life. And it simply consumes them, like their obsession is eating away at them.

Ok, so this game has a weird plot, but basically, from what I've managed to gather, it goes like this: basically, the world found a way to cure terminal diseases, or something like that. I think that caused the amount of worldwide profit to dwindle, but then Portaco., the company mentioned, found a way to connect computers into your brain? And they put that in game consoles, and that was really profitable? I think the game consoles also helped you stay healthy, and managed the systems inside your body or so. After this, while most companies lost their value, Portaco. was just rising in the stock market (I really don't understand this sorta deals, so feel free to correct me when I don't make any sense). When the Portaboy+ released, it was a big deal, and I think folks could make actual money with it, so I suppose the money we make in the game is real, albeit digital. Apparently, people could also manage their bank account with the consoles, and possibly even mine some digital currency too, and while most people would spend around 3 or 4 hours doing so... some spent WAY much more than that. And that caused their brains to use too much of their full capacity, like a computer that has much of its memory filled up. I have yet to check out the set of images from the 50 score, but I think this is what's causing these hallucinations, it's the Portaboy+ crashing your nervous system, or something along these lines. Edit: ok, so we play as a victim of Portaboy crashing, and while the doctors have done all they could to help us, we're still in a Portaboy-induced coma, stuck inside a nightmarish purgatory caused by our extreme exposure to the console. And oooh boy, we were so obsessed with the game, we even got our thumbs completely bloodied.

it seems like the more and deeper you get into the game you seem to progress rather into insanity. very cool game!!

Ok, so, I'm guessing this from the pics and what I got from another video: In the future, the cure for everything was found, which led to a higher life expectancy, but a horrible economic crisis. In response, many companies made products that could fix that, one of them being PortaCo, who made the PortaBoy line. You could buy it for its intended price of $999 and get all 100 games, or get it for free but only get like 6. PortaCo also made it so, if you played games with their console while you were connected to it, you could use the brainpower you were spending to get money from PortaCo, helping the economy crisis. The protagonist seems to have been in serious money trouble, which meant the PortaBoy+ "Brains=money" option was very needed for them. They started to play and they were beginning to make back money, getting enough cash to pay all their debts and then more... And then they got greedy, overplaying and risking their body to get more cash. This caused the Portaboy+ to glitch, trapping them inside of it, trapping them with... Whatever those things were, and most likely killing them slowly (hence the vitals screen being so insane). PortaCo did account for something like this happening and created a failsafe which allowed them to free the protagonist (with the obvious "we're not responsible for the damages caused by overusage of the Portaboy+" contract) and disconnect them from that glitchy game. I think I got it right, it's not that deep, though not less disturbing.

I remember watching lumpy touch show this a while ago, I am glad to see it looks like it's been flushed out a little bit more with the mini-games and stuff. It always looked like it gets hard AF once it starts picking up and the gameboi zambos start bum rushing you like crack heads.

I'm guessing the plot is that a company was losing profits, came up with the idea to harvest user's brainwaves to run computing functions (or mine for bitcoin) and created the Portaboy. While it was originally going to have 100 games, they ended up with just 4, (the errors that show up for games that never made it). They release a paid version, and a "free" version- the free one charges you over time and is implied to drain your savings while you're locked in the game. Furthermore, the longer you play, the more processing power (YOUR BRAIN) the unit uses, which is what causes the glitches and increased hallucinations. Every "play" is a different player- the player dies in every failed run, but leaves something behind on the network for other players. The player can't just put the game down, there's too many running processes that need to be closed first, and the inaccessible "exit" function has an equally inaccessible legal waiver they need to sign before hand. Basically, its all evil, lazy code. Fortunately, its so lazy you can exploit the flaws to escape. The survivor is likely a poor sod in a lower income area who was the ideal target Portacorp to prey upon. The program you run to escape is called "Papillon" , named after a novel about a french thief who plans with his fellow prisonmates to escape, which befits escaping a hellish electronic debtor's prison

This is gonna be a bit short but I’ve got a theory about what’s going on here. Maybe there was some company specializing in neural networking stuff but for some reason they went into making games related to them. The game keeps the player alive as they play, given how when you get a game over you can hear yourself flatlining. Perhaps this is a sort of arc where you, the player, are going deeper into the facility where they made the games for some ungodly reason?

This is legit just Duck Hunt and Wario Ware combined, I'd love to see some form of light gun compatibility put into this for that authentic feel

We already have a horror version of Wario Ware, it's called Sneaky Gamer! This is really cool. As a Wario Ware fan, i love the references. Calling Petscop "Pet Scope" and making it play exactly like the original "Find the Cat" microgame was a great detail
