I always thought she pretended to delete Caroline so Chell wouldn't think she was leaving anyone behind and decide to come back, especially if the theory that Caroline was related to Chell in some way is true.
@@juliasaraiva9146 It isn't _directly_ stated at any point that Chell is Caroline's daughter, but the Turret Opera basically confirms it. The entire thing is basically just "I love you my daughter"
@@burnstjamp Also, one of the potato battery projects from the 'bring your daughter to work day' thing was signed "Chell", so she's at least the daughter of somebody at Aperture.
@@supe4701 well technically Portal 2 takes place in hundreds if not thousands of years after the original portal which means that most likely by this point the combine has been defeated and the world is back to normal
@@supe4701 A lot of species went extinct when the xen aliens made it to earth, more went with them when the combine showed up and systematically ruined ecosystems outside their controlled cities. Im pretty sure the oceans are permafucked from the leeches. Life has it's way, but it'd never be normal again

I think Glados just said Caroline was deleted because she didn't want Chell to think she had any actual regard for her at all. As Caroline is probably integral to Glados's being, as twisted as she became due to getting stuffed into a computer. But Glados is one of those people/computers that hides what they're feeling behind deadpan and snarky biting comments imo.
@Competition For LOST One of them broke the glass of their container. That requires an impressive amount of strength, and the birds were *_just_* born very recently.

It's impressive how expressive GLaDOS is despite being a torso with a single eye. Especially her reaction to one of the birds breaking the glass, even if her range of emotion is limited, it's how she reacts and moves that really captures what she expresses.
This is a parallel to her relationship with chell, it proves there’s part of Caroline’s mother instincts in glados’s programming. The bird that pecked at her was a parallel for cave and the other scientists

I tried to rewind to where the bird cracked the glass to see if the crack was already there before the birds and kept accidentally rewinding to GlaDOS saying MARSHMALLOWS 😂

The thought that she may turn the entire apature labatory into a large greenhouse filled with generation after generation of "little killers" is truly beautiful. Imagine it "portal 3: bird simulator" The more i think about this video the more joy i feel, i can imagine her strapping small enhancements onto the birds lol, little birds flying around shooting lasers or tiny portals as they complete puzzles. *The seeds are a lie*
it's interesting that at first she called the baby birds abandoned, worthless and fat, similar to how she talks to chell about how she's (probably) an orphan and 'fat' too. but then she after realizing that she actually likes the baby birds, she calls them killers, which is funny because throughout portal 2 she calls chell a murderer.
