A segmented speedrun of Portal 2, completed in reverse, with a time of 21:47.850.

Reviewing all the stuff backwards made me realize: I love the "old" aperture science. But particularly, that weird area JUST before the new aperture with those ridiculous spring pylons.

The spring pylons always freaked me out since it just shows that I was under such an unimaginably large facility, just at the supporting columns. I always had the irrational fear of being crushed under that facility whenever I became aware of the spring columns, as if the entire structure were alive somehow and could just somehow lower down if I were able to wander too far down the field of support beams. I honestly think it’s a perfect transition to the familiar sight of modern aperture, it makes the sight of the emancipation grill and elevator even more welcoming.

@@dracatty I mean if you dig deeper, yes, the whole place is already kind of alive lol. Look at how wall segments move. They almost argue with each other sometimes trying to become flush. Glados also mentions killing the door controller AI in a segment. Glados also mentions android hell to get AIs to do what she wants them to which is the best part

hmm this makes me think of a horribly more twisted and darker version of Portal 2. You've been kept in testing for so long you get to witness the entire facility disintegrate, being forced to shut down systems just to prolong the facility's ability to keep you in testing, until everything is gone.

When I saw "Portal 2 Done Backwards", my immediate first thought was it was a mod to add ABH into the game. Then, when I saw you going forward, I realized the "backwards" didn't apply to your character movement but meant the game levels. Similarly, it would be like if "Half-Life 2 Done Quick" didn't mean the character moved quickly, but instead, the entire game engine was running at 2X speed. 🤣
