Watching this animation, I only just realized that after glados deletes Caroline she goes back to her emotionless robot voice. I never noticed that in game.

I just realized chell has an incredibly dangerous weapon, as long as she's got some moon goop she can open a portal to the moon whenever the hell she feels like it.

I love the attention to detail while she's speaking, like how at "Best friend" there's an oh so subtle smile, before her face goes completely blank after "Deleting" Caroline.

Oh the subtitles finally answered a question I had about a line. Glados said the more valuable lesson is *where* Caroline lives in her brain. Like literally the files where Caroline’s personality are located. That’s why she is able to delete Caroline. I used to think “where” was like in the abstract, which was more confusing.

how creepy is it that i've played the game so many times i started subconsciously reciting the voice lines along with gldos

Glados is the smartest villian cause sometimes the hero is only in your way for as long as you deny their simple wish and their wish can be granted with no drownside on the villian's part

The fact GlaDOS chuckles a little before telling Chell to not come back makes me believe Caroline wasn't completely deleted.

And then she sings you a love song.

Always refreshing to see girls with non-stereotypical personalities and not sexualized in an anime style.

I feel like the ending is GLADOS' way of trying to redeem herself. Here's why: 1. She says that she deletes Caroline, but in the CO-OP campaign she clearly shows that she still has her emotions and can even care about her creations, heck, even birds. 2. She immediately lets Chell go after regaining control when it would've been easy to kill her when she was literally passed out in front of her. Not to mention all the turrets she had ready at the end even after Caroline's "deletion". 3. Atlas and Peabody are the new testers she'll be using to scratch her "itch" (aka fulfill her base programming), showing that she's no longer going to be using humans for it as she now has a conscience and probably can't bring herself to do that. The birds are basically her pets. All of that's to say I think GLADOS had a very well-written Redemption arc. It makes total sense why she turned evil in the first place after losing her humanity and being forced to do all that stuff, and when she regains it she does her best to make amends, even if it's in a cheaky way. I'd like to think the version of earth Chell finds herself in is a good one where the rebels won and she can make a life for herself. GLADOS can have fun with her birds and continue testing in peace.

Atlas: genuinely relieved that the human is alive P-Body: "Pathetic."

this was very cool to see done in your style, thanks maggie :) this ending will always be sad to me. i always hated seeing Caroline reject her humanity. the startling change back to her robotic tone that, through the game, gradually shifted from logical to far more human. then in a moment all that change is gone and we lose an unlikely friend.

Hearing GLaDOS sounds so defeated it’s just amazing it’s one of the greatest forms of happiness that a human can experience

I dont like the style of them being "anime" but MAN i love this. So underrated.

Whenever I watch the ending for the game, I always thought Caroline wanted Chell to be out of Aperture Science not because she’s done with her, but because there’s really nothing in the facility that’ll aid her survival. Remember that most of the runtime in the game happened, probably, in only one day or two. You wake up, reenter the facility, start testing, wake her up, and suddenly you’re in space. Maybe that open field looked too open, but there might be something behind the shack that we just couldn’t see (an illusion). Man, Valve’s writing for this game was just pure genius.

She will probably come back when valve finally learns how to count to 3.
