I’ve always loved the line “You’re a moron they designed to make me an idiot!” Ellen McLain is an amazing voice actor who appeared in many Valve games, but there is a reason GLaDOS is her most iconic role
I love how distressed she sounds with that line, like she’s unloading all of the trauma she experienced from Wheatley’s existence into that condensed moment.
This animation is very good, but to anyone wondering about the Spanish part, I believe (based on what I've read before and my own understanding of the language) he's saying "You're using the translation software incorrectly. Please consult the user manual."
Oh absolutely. First time this happened in game, I genuinely had nightmares after hearing that scream. It’s like she’s being assaulted. Still gives me the creeps.
SO WORTH THE WAIT!!! The liberties you took to display the core dampening scene with Glados and Wheatley is fantastic, and their expressions are *chef's kiss. Incredible!!
I'm going to sabotage the top comment here to recommend "Blue Sky" by Wafflestories (just look it up on google). It's the unofficial Portal 3 novella and something I can't finish the Portal games without. I promise it's legitimately good
I always loved this twist. It seems really obvious in hindsight but hearing the menace creep into wheatleys voice was a great buildup. That feeling of "aw crap" was well done
I know right? I went into my first playthrough completely blind, and got emotionally attached to Wheatley super fast. I love how the sense of unease creeps into his dialogue over the course of that scene, rather than taking a whiplash turn into 'haha i'm evil now'. I remember hearing him remark on how small we looked from up there, and I just had this sense of 'uh oh' creep up my spine in the best way. I had no idea how long the game was, so I hadn't been anticipating an antagonist switch; I was actually a little surprised that we reached glados that early and thought that maybe the game was a bit shorter than I'd been expecting. Though I also did get completely and utterly blindsided by the second half of the first game; they really did a good job of making everything after the last test chamber feel like an 'i'm not supposed to be here, I crossed some kind of intended boundary' vibe
@@lzrshark617Haha. The fact that I got attached to Wheatley so fast is what clued me in on the twist. I still remember being so happy, he’s a neat little friend who’s super helpful! …Almost… too helpful… and then my smile and happiness faded as I looked at him and thought “You’re going to betray me aren’t you?” It made this scene so much sweeter, I felt so vindicated that I called it. I relate a lot to Chell looking disappointed with Wheatley this whole scene. She could also see the proverbial writing on the wall.
02:31 Love that expression. "You just made the last mistake you'll ever get. Because you've just exhausted any nostalgia I might have had for you." Love it because I think a lot of people would think Chell would be heartbroken, but honestly, she's a survivor. After busting her ass to get here and then this moron thinks HE did any meaningful work and rewards her like this? Nah, his name just got added to the shitlist.
Yeah wheatley should be lucky he got there he did nothing but sacrifice he says yeah well he has a rail wheatley is such a jerk chell did everything and he has a railing to get him out of trouble let that sink in
Didn't he wake her up She would be sleeping or die but he woke her up he did start it And we are an heartless monster Like look at what we do in the story we're are like glados and weatly We're an monster
Its always so interesting to see how much better these scenes get with the addition of stuff like facial expressions, truly a piece of heaven on Earth.
God, it's such a testament to the voice acting / sound design of this game that the scream that Glados lets out as she's being removed from the system gives me chills everytime
What I love about the transition from Wheatley into the machine is that at first the oranges and Red's are duller colors but when he becomes arrogant the red and orange colors gain a deeper hue a great way of showing that while that machine they have the capacity to be used for non-malicious or good impact it is all ruined by the person in it
That was amazing! Having them portrayed as people made that whole interaction much much more scary and tense. Seeing Glad0s getting dragged down along with the horrified screaming yikes!
And the implication of her being physically mutilated to cause this since both her and Wheatley are now human, justifying why they feel such agony during it
This is GORGEOUS, especially the intensity with Wheatley's last lines. My only wish is for Chell to have a bit more emotion. According to the devs, she's not emotionless or mute, her silence is just how she expresses her stubbornness. It would have been great during Wheatley's evil laugh if her face had shifted from cautious optimism to grim determination (or perhaps resignation) as she realized what was happening, maybe with her readying the portal gun as she did so.
@@CaylexT I never said I couldn't tell what her emotions were, I only said I wished her face did more emoting. It can still retain its subtlety while having more variety.
I’ve always loved Wheatley’s sort of mini-Caesar like story of taking over the entire place, a tiny spec becoming something of a god of robots, then, through a fight with the very person who gave him power, he is left in space to float for eternity (with a “friend” to keep company) It sounds like a modern Greek myth or something I love it God I love portal
Chell's death stare is always the best. Love how quickly she catches on that this isn't the end, even showing a bit of remorse when Glados and Wheatley start arguing.
2:02 He's been insecure since he was built No one, not even the ones who built em believed he was good for anything but making things worse and in the end that drove him nuts to the point he almost destroyed that entire facility. "Do you have any idea how good this feels? I did this! Tiny little Wheatly did this!" for once he felt accomplished because he succeeded in one of his outlandish plans but it was quickly overshadowed by Glad0s mocking him till he broke down and made one of the worst mistakes of his mechanical life. Now his once friend has enough reason to fight him as she did Glad0s, maybe even more so debatably.
You have turned a masterpiece into a masterpiece remastered, and shared it with us all for free over the years. Thank you for carrying on Portal for us to enjoy.
I love this all so much! I adore seeing portal 2 content so much. And THE DESIGNS OF THEM ARE ALL SO GOOD! (I love the GladOs design with my entire being.)
I am amazed by how this turned out. The animation is smooth, the facial expressions are captured as well, and their personalities demonstrated are close to canon. Can't wait to see more!
0:16 “are you just saying that? Or is it really gonna hurt? You’re just saying that aren’t you? Your just- no you not. It’s gonna hurt isn’t it? Exactly how painful are we tal- AAAAAHHHHHHHHRRGGGG
A detail I didn't notice until now, I like how the labcoat symbolizes who's in control of the facility. It's stripped from Glados upon transfer and given to Wheatley. And it seems like you had this idea in past videos as well.
I love seeing people still creating portal content- especially peoples own animated takes! This is brilliant, the expressions and everything is so well done !!!
This... this gave me vietnam flashbacks- No no, animation is amazing... Ive simply remembered another animation about core change humanisation edition...
:( i can feel the original person's pain and similar story behind the words "she did all the work". Cave v2 still mucking up her life and taking credit for everyone's sacrifices. 😢
Amazing work again. Potato Glados is cute, Chells body language is fantastic, and Wheatley's descent into madness is so mcuh sweeter with facial expressions.
This is awe-inspiring I love this so much. The perfect climax for your portal animation. Not to say you should stop, but if you do stop making it I will be happy with the great work you have given us.
This is just perfect. Your animation makes this scene not only more intense but you can really feel the emotion with GLaDOS and Wheatley while Chell is still vibing in the background
Maggie Sea's animations are always a gift. They are so well-made, so creative, and so heartwarming. This animation is no exception. It's a masterpiece that I highly recommend to everyone!
This is the first time I noticed that Wheatley basically said, 'You are using the translation software incorrectly. Please, consult the manual.'. Made me chuckle.
I love this???? This has to be my favourite portal animation. Everyone is so expressive with the emotions. Tiny little movements that make the dialouge so much better. Aaaa its so good
By time we will have enough animation clips to have the whole game animated, just give our Maggie several years of unconsciously animating the entire game.
2:59 I like the interpretation of making GLaDOS into a child. Not only are the potato batteries associated with children, but kids are stereotyped to be stupid and Wheatly thinks the potato’s batteries are dumb
I love this so much, I've been a portal fan as far as i can remember and you are just giving us (the Portal Fandom) just feast after feast with your content, keep doing what you're doing because you are amazing
Wow! As a huge portal fan i can say - amazing work! I really wish that the next scene will be when they get back to Wheatley. Glados trying really hard not to get herself killed with the paradox, the surprise when the paradox didn't work on Wheatley and the talk about the itch. This scene really needs face impressions in my opinion. Edit: I have now realised that the animation exists...
This animation is BLOODY AMAZING. You have a real talent for thinking of ways to compose the scenes and make them really dramatic. It's the small details like glados's hair uncovering her eye when she speaks at 2:12 and how all the characters slide into frame that make this animation so great to watch. Wheatleys gestures are amazing and really support his intonation and nonverbal speach. The colour choice is amazing (even though its inspired by the game DUH). I also really like the detail of the lab coat being a symbol of who runs the facility. My favourite part personally is from 1:40 onward. I wonder if it was intentional to show the red lights on the main AI mainframe just as Wheatley gets corrupted to even more symbolise said corruption at 2:05. It is a really nice detail and just shows your talent for having that feel for what the scene needs. And there are certainly more neat details like this! Overall 10/10 from me. The fact that this fanbase is still alive and thriving with talented people like you is just amazing. Thank you
the only thing I wish was different was PotatOS being physically smashed into the exit lift repeatedly, or at least have him punch it, but otherwise: godly animation! thank you very much for making it!
OMFG THTE EXPRESSIONS! You’ve perfectly displayed the expressions that these characters would’ve had hold they had faces. As well as physical touch to them that KEEPS their characters. And the way you’ve shown the crazy expression for Wheatley, the way you slowly made him process how much power he has, and what he could do to Shell. And for the expression what Glados realized that would have to go through, and how much pain she gets infused with. And Chell’s face, still showing their expressionless but in all seriousness and expression of that makes sense. This is beautiful.
