For a mild port job, she runs real good. These saws kinda are what they are. Tremendously durable and reliable saws. A bit on the big side for their displacement and power they put out stock. They have a reputation for modding well, and yours is no exception. The manual oiler you referenced is why these saws made such good milling saws too. Not screaming saws but good torque as they come. A bit old school, but they were basically unchanged since like 1985 when the 8000 came out. I might be off on the model designation, and year, but that's the era.
Looks like after a good 5-6 stroke’s on your cutter tooth will get your rakes up higher and you’ll be taking a finer bite and not pulling her down out of her power zone as much .020/.025 raker height.,, and when she’ll get some more time and your rings are tight she’s gonna get a little stronger too!
I enjoy running one of these ported 81 cc brutes, much more over my stihl 660 mag. That garbage 660 had a stingy oiler and no torque. No, the cs 8000/800p is not as heavy as a 660. Also replaced a garbage, rattle trap 881 mag with a ported cs 1201. MUCH better oiler, so smooth and torque for days. Doesn't need to hide behind show-boy plastics like the stihl-born junk, because there is no plastic.......
I have used a QV-8000 for a 36” bar for 25 years and it’s still a great running tool… it’s not as fast or flashy but I absolutely love the additional oiler underneath my thumb and. The QV cylinder is factory ported and it’s not a big pig like the cs8000 cylinder more of the original cylinder that they used for a 800p saw today and they will get the work done… echo’s have a smaller carburetor and they are extremely efficient with the fuel Burt for the wood cut!!!
Holy smokes! That thing rips💪🏼only thing cs-800 about it now is the way it looks👍🏻 I almost always pull out on the recoil handle at shutdown. Except on my stihls and others that have the pawls in the recoil assembly. Kinda counter productive there. Occasionally I'll forget and pull them too😬😅 Looking forward to THE BIG SHOW!!
Never really was impressed with the CS800/8000 even after porting. Don’t get me wrong they run pretty good, just not quite as good as other saws in it’s class. You did well with that one though, can’t deny that.
