That lil 545 is strong 💪.. like you were saying the rings maybe seated and the A/T dialed in better that 400c needs about 10 tanks before it really shows what it’s got. Like I was saying about mine it was literally like a light switch it changed. It went from good to great in a blink. Never seen a saw do that and I’m not even a huge Stihl guy I just bought that because I’m an engine geek and liked the mag piston idea lol 😆.
You can only make so much power before you start affecting other things. Bearings, burnt clutches, broken cranks. Iron horse had to ease up on a 66 that was over powering the clutch. Most things on a saw are built to handle a certain amount of power. Once you get past that you start having parts failure.
I've been looking at 50's lately and I had it down to the 261 and the 550. I'd snag a clean 346 in a heartbeat. Now I'm leaning to the 545, though, because it'll probably run a 24" bar most of the time. Interesting results. I'll port whatever I get for sure.

I have a 550xp, and I agree that its built for rpm, and it excels at it with a 18in .325. I also have a clone ms260 that I put a 20in 3/8 which works great. I thought that the 550xp would do the same or better with 20in like the 260. But the 550 seems to bog easier with 20. The 260 will pull and cut, not fast, but it'll do it better then then 550(with a 20) But the 550 will out run and out cut the 260 but only with a 18(or smaller) .325. its just what its built for.
I used both the 550 is nicer to me. Need to keep that chain sharp as shit though. Like you said she bogs and loses a bit. Smaller bar and a different chain have always been in the back of my mind
Yeah, the 550 was NOT designed to be a general purpose saw. Give it a 16" bar and keep it spinning! The 545 though, totally designed for professional use but general purpose. A catch all small saw. Both are great, but very different performers.
I just found you on u tube today. I have watched several of your videos and first off, I like you, I like your videos, I like what you think and say, and I like what you say about the other guys like yourself. We all learn by talking to other people and we all have different ideas. And like you say we can always find new ways to get more power and more torque. But it is hard to improve a saw when Huskvarna has done such a great job already

I really appreciate your effort. Your funny as all get out. I have a 545 I like it use it every day dayum near. 20 inch bar . Had it for 2yrs now. I do also use it alot in the tree for blocking down, pine, oak, etc.... I have found no hot start issue with it yet. Bsafe Brodey and keep up the good work.

I have couple guys near me thinks their Stihl’s 390 290 is fast and same power as my echo 680, 7310 makita 5000, 6100, 7900 lol Those dudes are all stihl everything. They use nothing about stihl products nothing else. Stihl guys around here in Northern Arizona thinks stihl is all the shit in-away haha. It’s funny
when you talk about 545-550 are you talking about the early mark 1’s? because the newer 545-550 mark2’s dont have rev boost and in general are on another level than the older models.
I don’t know, The thunder kitten is a Brisco build. I know you said that it was built for torque so being that you cut oak most of the time and it being a brisco port job I think it has a real shot at taking the husqy.
I have 2 redmax gz5000, same as jonsered 2252. I beat the hell out of them, they are beast. Autotune is messy some of the time but they always adjust themselves back. Very fast saw , perfect for limbing
Man you are f-cking hilarious! As far as the 550 Mark II I think Aaron is on crack and you put way to much stock in his opinion. It is high revving and has plenty of torque.
