This is actually really helpful. I was torn between the large tote and the crossbody tote and now I think I'm getting the crossbody. Note: it comes with a zipper now!

YAY! I am so on the fence between this medium crossbody (without a zipper) from PLG in 'honey' and the Madewell Medium Transport crossbody tote in 'English saddle.'

Ahh I know they're pretty comparable aside from some little details. I think at that point it comes down to the company and mission you want to get behind, PLG really had a whole cult community that it's been fun being a part of :) Thanks for watching!

I really like and use both of them! It just depends on whether I want the convenience of the crossbody, or don't feel like messing with it that day (like if I'm wearing a big puffy coat 😂)

If you have no issue altering the larger bag just get a decorative magnetic snap and put it on the bag. Providing it will not put stress on the leather with a wide purse organizer in it.

Hi, since you have used this crossbody bag in both ways, with a zipper, and without a zipper, I am hoping you will help me with a question or two. I have several of the mini crossbody bags and wanted a bigger option. I only use crossbody bags. I purchased the large crossbody with a zipper in Redwood. It came a couple days ago and it is stiff, and hard to get into. I am wondering if I were to order in a softer color, and without a zipper if it would make a difference in the feel of the opening (being softer, and easier to get into). I really like the zipper for security, so I don't know what to do. Either way I am returning the Redwood bag as I just don't like it. I want to try another one, but I can't decide on zipper or no zipper, and if a different color would help. Thank you so much!

Hi Angie - the zipper on the crossbody is sewn in a little differently than on the regular shoulder bag, and I think that does affect how easily you can get into the opening, but choosing one of the softer leathers would probably also help (I only have smooth black and it's pretty stiff). You might also want to pose your question in the Portland Leather Groupies group on Facebook, those fans are much more familiar with all the different styles and leather options and could give you some great advice.
