He was murdered 6 years after this interview 4 shotgun blasts at close range . His attorney F Lee Bailey stated that with all due respect to his client society didn’t suffer a great loss.
Fuck yes RU-vid algorithm. I wasn’t even thinking about or even clicked on mob hit men, but I’m so glad I’m here. Love these personal one on one interviews.
He slapped a guy in a bar and the owner said don't ever put yur hands on anyone in here ever again. So instead he bit the guys face is why he's called thr Animal
This is a fantastic clip lol. Barboza was actually of Portuguese extraction, but man this guy was literally the archetype of the classic mob loan shark.
Not sure about that..bc he was so disliked by alot people which limited his earnings..They said lots of potential clients refused to borrow off him bc of his reputation and antics.
Yes he was a pork chop, he actually wrote a book, where he claimed to be the "head of the family" ,lol. Other sources said the mafia promised him to be made although they knew it would never happen. They did say he was crazy with his antics.
It’s pretty cool to think that this interview happened June 1970, the same month and year billy batts was whacked, so there is a 1/30 chance that during this interview, the whole billy batts situation with Jimmy Burke was happening
Thanks. just started uploading video not too long ago. I didn’t expect even 5k subscribers at this point. Salute to you and everyone that tunes into the channel.
@@MOBFAX thanks much appreciated, you report on the days of the golden age of criminals, from the mafia to the cartels , heaven for people intrigued in way of that life
@@GordiansKnotHere He didnt have any moral code either. He was a piece of shit in every sense of the word. He got a completely innocent family man locked up and sentenced to life in prison for a murder he didnt do. All because he had a grudge against him and wanted to get back at him. Absolute scumbag. The guy, Mr Salvati, spent 30 years locked up until the government finally was forced to admit the truth and let him out.
Agreed but learning these languages becomes easier if you know one fluently since they are all romance languages derived from vulgar latin....we were all part of the Roman empire at different points (portugal) (spain) (italy) so similaritys in language and how we look alike is going to exist rather frequently.
@@blksheep176 yeah but nobody did it like the mob as far as taking over unions and trash hauling and the garment center and controlling them for decades , legitimate business was controlled by gangsters they could shut down the country ,the other organizations maybe made more money and were killing more people but the mob was more powerful more successful
@@gregchapman6190 I was talking about from a fear aspect. The mob definitely was a web of control and corruption. But tbh the cartel pretty much runs Mexico. Not saying either was god bad better or worse. Both are evil institutions IMO
I worked for a time as a security guard at the Massachusetts Eye Ear Nose and Throat Clinic, right across from the Charles Street Jail, where Jerry Angiulo was being held for a short while after his arrest. This was back in 1982, I think.
In this situation the guy that kills you takes what they call 'your books" ,yep, not getting off easy just cause the dude got smoked, lol, matter of fact a lot of hits have gone down with the provision that "if i kill him i get his loan shark book, sure sure, its all yours"
@@dntlss no that's not how it works. I've watched documentary where duded know someone going to get whacked so they borrow 50 grand. You just made that up. How the hell the guy that kill you take your book. It could be a hitman or anybody fool
It’s VERY simple, don’t borrow what you CANT possibly pay back plus interest what YOU agree too!!! The problem comes with alchohol/drugs combined with gambling = bad decisions - OR it’s family/spouse/close friends borrowing on behalf of someone connected/associated… This exact thing happened to me growing up with my own lil brother getting involved with people I was connected with, and I’ve personally seen drunk people make BAD decisions borrowing/losing money gambling with dire consequences
This guy looks and sounds scary. I can imagine him, chasing some poor dude, who owes him money, through back alleys or an apartment block, with a led pipe, he's gonna use to beat the shit out of him with. Wonder if he's still alive? 🤔
If you want to read more about Barboza, read Vincent Teresa's "My Life in the Mafia." It details several of the hits the mob in Mass had Barboza do. It also details the events that led up to Barboza turning state's evidence, and the lengths taken to try to kill defectors.
He turned states because he was in prison and calling Patricia gay and Patricia said he would kill him the minute he gets out. That's why Barbosa went states. They had him in California under an assumed named and were gonna use him for other trials when one of Patricias men got him with four shotgun blasts to the chest and head
@@swamp9136 no I mean how they found him in frisco? Wasn’t he in witsec after he was gone testifying ? I heard he had killed a man actually I think I read somewhere he killed 2 men in the Bay Area while in witsec
Don't know why, but this guy reminds me of a young Jackie Gleason. Also I love the theme music it really captures that era. And to all you youngsters Stay away from Hard Money at all times !!!
So the first thing I read about Barboza was 4 men went to the chair and 2 got life over a murder he did, and that's why he got whacked. If true, what a shahole of a man. Superb content ❤
Barboza was a Dirty Portagee in the eyes of the Sicilians in the Patriarca Family. A non-Italian is only good for the dirty jobs. Barboza was a classic case. Irish and Jewish mobsters had to start their own organizations because they can't be made men in La Costa Nostra. The Portugese didn't organize themselves like the Irish, Jews and Sicilians did. Forget all the romanticized mob stuff on the Sopranos or in the movies. Barboza, the Animal, was the Mafia stripped of its cachet and Hollywood/Las Vegas PR.
I never understood why loan sharking was illegal..the sometimes violence if people don't pay I get..but I will loan shsrks helped start many successful businesses. And those success stories couldn't get money from banks
@Eventual Visitor still not saying why it's illegal lol..if was legal they'd have other means to collect. I mean some equity loans, etc have loan sharking size fees and interest..or look at pay day loans..once again though those all go thru an institution..but if u try it as an individual it's illegal. .makes no sense for a supposed free market
Even them days they told the world about killings so you done this for nothing righttttt so where’s joe now 😳😳🤔 Man where do you find this old footage your good 👍😂
He would no doubt make people swim with the fishes if they didn't pay you how stupid can you be to borrow and not pay back imagine how many fingers he's cut off of people.
He turned states witness against my stepfather in the 60"s accusing him, Vinny (the pig) DeVincent and his partner Bernard Zinna of killing Rocky DiSiglio. He didn't last long after that... He said Vinny bragged about the killing after the fact but knowing Vinny I doubt that very much. Anyway Vinny walked on that one but ultimately he died "in a hail of bullets" in the 90's. Karma.
At 2.30 he was right he was wrong into terms of violence it is depends how you look at it but you know you are wrong I borrow from a friend before alot and couldn't pay back till now not for gambling had car accident and that's why I borrowed 5 and half years later still waiting now the lawyer is sending the insurance to court they may settle I prefer to go to court my rights will be given better if they are honest at the court you don't know who to trust here in Canada so yeah if my friend yell at me when he is mad I know I'm wrong no matter what excuse I have even though he understands but I'll be paying high interest there is no such thing as friend or you know someone when comes to money it's better never borrow unless you really really have to because ruins relation ships makes pribelms and so on I regret taking it but if I didn't also I would have been on the streets do it helped and also didn't help if you have a little chance of surviving without it do it
@@vladimirputinforUSA Wrong. He didn’t hate the fact he was Portuguese. He was just trying to not get ridiculed by his associates who were all Italian. They were very racist towards him and called him the n word because of his dark skin and Afro like hair…
@@vladimirputinforUSABefore a law standardizing the spelling of words in Portuguese was issued in around 1940 under Salazar the standard spelling of his last name in Portugal was "Barboza". Since Barboza's family settled in New Bedford in the late 1800s he had the old version of Barbosa with a z. In Brazil which never passed this type of legislation the name appears sometimes with an s and sometimes with a z. Among Portuguese-Americans having an older version of a Portuguese surname indicates that the family emigrated to the US before the 1940s. This happens when Melo is Mello or Sousa is Souza, etc.
@@vladimirputinforUSA Barboza did indeed change his surname to Baron but that was in the 1960s when he converted to Judaism and married a Jewish woman.
@@xxx-jw4ur There is a large and very long established Cape Verdean community in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Before 1975 the Cape Verde Islands were an overseas territory of Portugal and hence its inhabitants were regarded as Portuguese citizens and as such frequently identified themselves as Portuguese in America. That is why there was/is sometimes a misidentification of Portuguese from Portugal with Cape Verdeans who are normally seen as black in America and at one point were identified as Portuguese as well.
