Lived in Lisboa for a year. The food is absolutely terrific! The butchers sell top quality meats. The markets sell food without artificial preservatives. Lost 15 pounds while eating well and not trying to reduce. Love Lisboa!
@@anairenemartinez165 Do you really think that in one week you are able enough to speak about portuguese cuisine?! Who's stupid after all?! But I have an advice for you. Follow those guys who aren't portuguese and they will tell you more about portuguese food and Portuguese culture.
Portugal food is one of the best in the word. Very simple dishes but with quality products. I've tried a 3x stars Michelin restaurant here in France. It cost me an arm & a leg (175€) and the food wasn't as tasty as you would get in a cheap Portuguese restaurant. Remember, Portugal had many colonies in all over the world and brought many spices to the continent. American people should visit Portugal while in Europe, there's more than Paris, London and Rome.
You are correct my friend. Portuguese food is much better than Italian, French, Spanish and Greek. I've tried them all and to me, Portuguese food is the best. The freshest, tastiest, and great value. How do you beat that! The world has got to wake up and smell the grilled sardines!
@Mahima Bhat if you talk about restaurants, I must agree. But here in Europe, restaurants are usually meat or fish with potato / rice / pasta. While living in Ireland, I had a Chinese friend, he cooked totally different than what I was used to eat in restaurants. He was using more vegetables than what is proposed in Chinese restaurants in Europe. If you go to a shop in Portugal / Spain / France, you'll see many different vegetables available.
It was so relaxing to watch, just the ambient sounds of food being prepared with a smile, and people enjoying a pleasant evening with good food and friends.
If you just knew the ammount of times I find myself back in this video every now and then. It's not so much about the food...but THIS video....I dunno ....it just captured city ambience in such an interesting way...it makes me feel all warm and cozy inside :) Thank you for sharing.
LMTR14 Just so you know, Ronaldo donates his blood and money to help kids/people in need. Portuguese are friendly, but don't judge based on 1 person that you know nothing about. Its funny people judge Ronaldo's personality when he gets upset at the referee or at another player (that's just being competitive like most of the players that play the game) What's important is what he does off the field! You judging Ronaldo's personality on what he does during a game versus what he does off the field just tells me you have your priorities messed up. For me, helping other in need is far more important, and its those characteristics that I judge someone's personality not what he does on the field when emotions are high. You can say "well i would never do what Ronaldo does on the field" and maybe not, but if you are competitive, you would because you care to win. Being competitive is what drives people to get better and its why Ronaldo is one of the best players to play the game. Regardless, this should NEVER overshadow what he does of the field!
That's because that's not a bifana - that's what we call a prego no pão in the north. What we call bifana in Porto is thinly sliced pork meat, slowly simmered in a tomato, beer and hot sauce based broth, and served in a bun. The bread soaks up the sauce, and the meat is cooked until falling appart. It does not require anything else.
Greetings from Portugal! Are you going to visit Porto too? Amazing food all over the country ;-) But since you're in Lisbon you DEFINITELY should visit Óbidos, it's a nearby castle town that sells the best Ginja (cherry liqueur) in the country in a chocolate cup! The town is amazing too and you can walk on top of the Castle walls - pay them a visit and get a bottle or two! haha
You do realize that you described food in practically the entirety of the country, right? I mean, arroz de cabidela, bacalhau co mtodos, pasteis de bacalhar, pataniscas, etc, you can get in pratically every city in the country. One thing I can't understand is why you call bifanas to prego no pão... If you want to try the real bifana, you should try Conga in Porto.
@@patriciavitorino8740 maybe u're not as Portuguese as you may think you are. No Portuguese person would eat sardines with a fork, only the canned sardines, not the grilled ones. You should DNA test yourself, you may be surprised !
that food is for people that wanna eat well and keep its normal stature of a elegant person if you wanna build muscle in the ass , i recoment la americana food
Are there any places to eat that you would recommend for a quick meal in Lisbon? Going there soon so I would love some recommendations! Thanks in advance. :)
I saw your reply on my comment on another vid aswell. Very helpful and I will definitely keep my eyes open to find the local places. You my friend, are worth your weight in gold. Obrigado!
Thank you for this wonderful video of my home city, gorgeous foods and wonderful people and don’t get me started on the wines and liquors... I have a recipe of the Bifanas the pork sandwich in my channel, come by if you can, I have other delicious Portuguese recipes there as well, cheers!
grace rose Yep, apparently there was this catastrophe in Lisbon where there were massive earthquake which cause major fire and tsunami to hit the city at the same time. Most of Lisbon was rebuilt afterward. Beautiful city nice ppl, I'd love to visit again.
Limestone sidewalks are the norm in the whole country. A few of them are decorated with polished granite or even marble to make gorgeous designs, like mosaics. ncultura.pt/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/chiado44-e1524238934522.jpg This is the entrance to a subway station in downtown Lisbon, but you can find equally pretty patterns all over the country. i.pinimg.com/originals/aa/d5/d2/aad5d21fcf27b775c6bbb8ba4c6528df.jpg This one is in the Algarve, in the south. The light in the cities is especially bright because of the limestone, as it reflects the sun and makes the light bounce off the pavement and these kinds of buildings (st4.depositphotos.com/10088862/25141/i/1600/depositphotos_251413628-stock-photo-typical-facade-in-lisbon-with.jpg) which are covered in tiles.
I wonder how many custard tarts I will eat if I visit Lisbon. The rest looks rather porky but maybe there is more variety in the street food available.
Best advice I can give you, don't be a stupid tourist if you see a Portuguese ask him where you can eat what you want like fish or pastries or something ask the locals and they will tell you the best places to eat, don't follow the others Lisbon is not just bifanas and pastel de nata that's just scratching the surface, you have eel stew, fish soup, fish rice, cozido a portuguesa, and so much codfish so just decide what you want to eat and ask around, we love to share our culture so it won't be hard to find what you want, whenever in doubt ask we love to help!! Just say Olá bom dia Por favor, obrigado, Just those 3 words win all our respect

seriously with all due respect ...... i mean i have a very good idea about cooking , boiled pork??? in a roll , where is the flavor , its boiled no matter how flavorful the stock may be its boiled ,
With all due respect... you haven't tasted it ;) The flavour is not in the stock, it's in the meat itself. It's not boiled, that sauce is so fatty it's almost a "wet fry". Plus, it's super tender, almost melting in your mouth. Trust us, it's really good.
Yeah, sometimes they both overdo that shit. The food in Mark's videos look really good though. imo the biggest problem with Trevor James' videos is the awkward "delicious" or "awesome" comments he makes everytime he greets someone.
Woozlewuzzleable I agree with you that Mark wiens' expressions and noises are extremely annoying (so annoying in fact that I cannot bear to watch his videos) - but for some reason, Trevor's noises of delight have never bothered me 😊
