It's funny how nearly all religions in antiquity have giants in them and nearly all of them are represented as having this redemption story to them. It is like the same author writing a series of books with different characters and locations in them but the same premise. You could even say it must be true, if everyone from Northlands to even eastern deserts such as the low kingdom are basically saying the same stories... Or I am overthinking it and they just stole ideas from each other like the Romans did with the Greeks mythos.

to be honest, mythology makes you rethink the whole "fathers are emotionally unavailable" thing. I bet many mythological beings would have liked that their fathers (and mothers, I am looking at you, Hera) were just "emotionally unavailable".

It not what came first or did not. İt is how the Greeks saw the world. They where the same has the romen in that they assumed every one worshiped there gods so when they found people that worshiped other gods they had to figured out how. All so we have no idea how old the Greek gods truly are. They predate classical Greece.
@aFoxyFox.
@aFoxyFox. 4 года назад
@@Andrewza1 Greeks liked to practice "personification", and to write about all sorts of things as if those things were persons. They were sophisticated and intelligent people, so knew that "Water", "Light", and Rivers were not people or in the actual shape of people, but would symbolically depict them like that at times and include certain symbols and references and identifications to such. Depicting things like people was meant to indicate that these things were believed to have some sort of spirit inside or life, animation, and ability to respond or be appeased in the way a human might be. They knew the river was a river and looked like a river, but in order to depict it they would create a symbolic form for it which they would use to try to make the river something more manageable for them to interact with or control through offerings and appeasement efforts. The Greeks in this fashion attempted to manage all of wild nature by giving every element some rational form they could try to deal with or control through offerings and appeasement since they could not easily control the elements in a direct fashion. The geneology of these portions of nature varied and they had no strict system as to what came from what, but they tended to be logical, so for example "night" may be "born of" "darkness" and stuff like that. Again, anyone educated in the meanings of these common words would understand the simple symbolic logic being used and not likely take it so literally that these things one clearly sees or encounters which cover huge areas were actually small statue sized people. They were fully aware that this was not the case, that they had made these images and used human models, and that these images or symbolic writings referred to inhuman things that don't cease or fade or die like humans do and are not human beings but clearly visible things like rivers or constellations of stars, or invisible concepts like "justice", "victory", "love", "vengeance". Whatever thing you wanted to deal with, you would call upon it. Some even considered these to be aspects or fragments of One Power but were called upon by particular names when desiring some certain area of life to be influenced favorably. Its also interesting your name, Coetzee, even your first name. I was just reading about the name Bargatze coming from Pan-Cratius meaning Ruler of Everything or Ruler of All. The name Andrew may be related to the term Andro, meaning Man. Names were much more relevant and looked into by the Greeks than people care to these days. A person's name or what they were called often referred to some quality they had or their special ability or aspect which was notable, otherwise for some deed they may have done and so their name was changed or added to.

I might be wrong but I was under the assumption that the cyclopes and the hecatoncheires weren’t officially giants. In the sense that typhon and his brethren are giants by title. Whereas the other two are giant in size, yes, but weren’t referred to as giants, “species” wise. This is why the gigantomachy is titled as such and highlights the war between the gods and the giants, children of gaea and Tartarus or made from the blood of Uranus.

@KingKatura
@KingKatura 2 года назад
@@mishkosimonovski23 Yes and No their is 2 kinds of Giants one from people and one of a different race, this can be found in most languages. Hebrew, Nephiliem & Rephiaem and in greek/roman, Titan & the word you used. They are distinct and different One was believed to be part human and part god, the other was a person who became corrupt by some other means(Nimrod), or Became a Renowned hero without any special ability's the king of Edom Alexander the great was one such man. This is why you have say the catholic church who worships "Saints" but in reality it dates back thousands of years to the Council of Titans in which they would worship Old fallen heroes called titans which where demi gods their spirits would return and help them. heroes like heracles, archilles, so forth so on. SO your right but like most things its far more lengthy and complicated than the history channel would like to make it, by that i mean that most of the so called historians would like to make it. Which makes sense on some level since it is pretty difficult to explain the whole thing to a normal person who say just went to schools or didn't study such area's to the extreme plus it can get confusing I'd imagine for some people. There's multiple terms for multiple things in every language this is why specific words have been chosen throughout history and even today to represent specific things so that their is no confusion in the meaning. However we know today that corporations & colleges have created confusion in order to profit. So without studying ancient materials oneself and studying the work of so called scholars alot of information gets lost in the transfer for the average person.

@aidenmolyneux6940
@aidenmolyneux6940 5 лет назад
Preston Cormick they do match but it’s the same one constantly, the old videos had like 7 pictures for each monster he described going through lots of different interpretations of each beast (or whatever creature) he was talking about. It made the videos more interesting. It was supposed to be constructive feedback so back off.

Isnt there a story where zeus finally defeats typhon because by that time the giants he had freed crafted him his lightning bolt which he later throws at typhon?

Hermes stole back the lightning healed his father and the muses gave typhon a weakning drug in his sleep then zeus beat him , typhon was too freaking good at wooping gods ass that the only way to win was to cheat

I HAVE SOMETHING COMPLETELY SEPARATE TO SAY THAT HAS TO DO ABOUT GIANTS IN STORIES: Now I have noticed that in almost all mythical stories there are two different types of giants; There are the good friendly giants, and evil brutal giants. The evil brutal giants are the ones who enjoy causing destruction, eating people, doing horrible deeds, working with wicked people & wicked gods, and killing people. While on the other hand the good friendly giants care about trying to make friends with anyone except with evil people, they enjoy building stuff, they are very cautious, they do their best at keeping them selves hidden from horrible danger, and they have wishful dreams of having a romantic relationship with someone. But I wonder if at some point of time in the far ancient past that there might of been a giant race civilization, and I wonder if ever had to deal with conflict with one another do to the fact of two different types of races of giants people?

I mean it's not that hard to think of giants. They're literally just people but bigger. If giants had existed, we would've made archaeological discoveries by now.
@amortality999
@amortality999 3 года назад
@@theresnothinghereatall The Gigantes weren't actually necessarily big. They just commanded storms and drew power from the earth. And had lots of strength, durability, etc.

You may have not known that there were some other Giants/Gigantes depicted with having snake coils for legs, much like Typhon. You could say Typhon may have inherited it from them. There was also a Giant or a race of them in Jason's and the Argonauts called Gegenees, were he/they have at least six arms, three on each side to be exact.

I'd classify Typhon, the Cyclopes, and Hecatoncheires as all giants, just different subtypes. Like a poodle and pitbull are both dogs. Just different breeds.

You need to do the Lost Book of King Od. Otherwise known as the War of the 100,000 Giants, or the War of the Circumcised & Uncircumcised Giants. It is a truly incredible tale that speaks of a war between the two rallied factions of Giants. It has Giants riding rhinos & elephants, & what sounds like dinosaurs & pterodactyls. It speaks of their contempt for the “little people” (which would be us humans) & how we were their slaves, sex objects & sacrificial (dark magic) dinner. They are so busy killing each other, they neglected to notice they killed off all of their women (except one, King Od’s daughter, the Moon Goddess, who was pregnant & in terrible labor). How they were so busy killing each other, they neglected to notice the Flood waters rising. Mind blowing stuff. Gruesome in places. Humorous in other places. More talk of foreskins than you could ever want. Lol 😂 Also easy to see how it wasn’t included into the Bible (You can find several narrated versions of it here on RU-vid)
