Having survived covid without hospitalization I can agree with the symptom of prolonged fatigue. I guess this makes sense because the body has fought an intruder that poses a threat to life. My approach with fatigue is to do more not less non strenuous physical exercise like house chores. Mopping laundry cleaning and walking. The most important and helpful way I've managed my fatigue is by incorporating lots of fresh air. Ventilation crack bedroom window open while sleeping and take short walks outside especially when the sun is out. Also sipping on weak milky tea throughout the day and taking supplements cod liver oil capsules magnesium vitamin D3 and a spoon of Feroglobinliquid with zinc every other day. A massage also helps as well as prayer. Adequate rest is important too ensuring to keep warm especially around the chest area. Wish all Covid long haulers a quick recovery

We tested positive for covid 19 on September 1st, unfortunately my father didn't survive. I was in a quarantine facility for 14 days, as I complained shortness of breath, fast heart rate, dizziness and chest, neck and throat pain. So I had my blood tests done, 2D echocardiogram, chest thoracic CT scan this last week of September, all were normal. My cardio and pulmo docs told me it was more on anxiety since I've got this problem for years. My main complaints up until now are difficulty breathing(I can't inhale satisfyingly), dizziness, lightheadedness/dizziness, palpitations especially when moving around. I just don't know what am feeling. It's scary for me since my type of anxiety is health anxiety. Edit/update: I feel much better now, Praise God! Although I'm still experiencing symptoms such as shortness of breath, palpitations body pains (back pain) and anxiety, they're very manageable now. There's hope for everyone. Just trust the Lord Jesus Christ and do your part as well. Positive thinking even it's very difficult, crying, praying, deep breathing, stretching, eating, and taking baby steps do help me. Just allow yourself to grieve, cry it out to Jesus, it does help. God bless everyone. 🙏🏼 ❤️

The following scriptures have helped me through my current recovery. God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear. (Psalms 46:1-2) For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7) It's not easy going through this. When you feel any symptoms, anxiety, or both, speak these scriptures out loud. The more you do it and you trust in God the more you will feel peace. You will make it through. All the best

Try deep breathing exercises and a spirometer. You need to exercise your lungs. I've been having the same problems for 5 weeks now and it's been helping me a lot. I am still not 100% but I would say it helps me breathe a little much easier.

Why are these symptoms such as shortness of breath, heavy chest, heart/chest pains, lung/pain not appearing on X-rays or test? Doctors are just dismissing things as anxiety! It’s so frustrating! They’re misdiagnosing us & giving us antidepressants!

Bronchospasm causes a lot more than just “discomfort”. Even the milder attacks can be seriously terrifying and leaving you unable to speak- with a building wall of co2 building up in the blood due to lack of effective expiration. This should not fall under “chest pain” which is more likely caused by cardiac issues such as pericarditis, myocarditis or possible blood clots. The distress is unbelievable

Chest pain can be lungs too. Bronchospasm is just something entirely separate. I have both. The pain is constant. The spasms come when I provoke my lungs by laying on my back or when I am too active or when I talk too much. It feels entirely different than the pain.

We had it a year ago and I had a lot of issues and I think the headaches and fatigue were because of lack of oxygen. After a year and no improvement I started doing breathing exercises 2 times a day. Sit down, Breathe in deep through nose (tighten stomach)) hold for 4-5 seconds and breathe out of your mouth until theirs no more air. A lot of coughing happens during it but it helps. After doing this for a month my headache and fatigue and tight chest is gone. I also did some stretching of the neck, and chest every morning. These things really have helped.

There is good info here, but as a long hauler who has now recovered my experience was that exercise or being active could often make you relapse. My long covid specialists say this condition is likely due to viral debris still left in our system. All I know that I took some medication for inflammation and I'm back to normal now. No one is looking into these medications unfortunately and is continuously discrediting them. The NIH and CDC are a complete failure and all they talk about is the vaccine. There are medications that are working around the world, but our doctors will not prescribe them. I'm not going to mention the names because I am not advocating for any of these medications. I'm simply telling you my experience and its a shame that our doctors are not willing to be practitioners in the time most needed. Most of the long-haul issues are due to persistent inflammation from the debris that is causing your immune system to stay highly alert and active.
@jessicah3450
@jessicah3450 3 года назад
I was put on pretty common medications for 3 months now. It's different for each patient though. My illness is mainly still attacking my lungs, causing inflammation and some scarring. Some patients have heart, neurological, or issues with other organ systems. I know I can go for a long walk on a "good" day then feel terrible for days after. It's important to not overdo it, ease into it instead and take frequent breaks. I've had two Covid tests and came back negative, but I have lyme disease and "persister" bacteria is common with that, kind of like the persister virus that hides from testing. Sometimes these illnesses though can set off an immune response where your immune system attacks your own body, kind of like an autoimmune disease.

Hopefully you are following up with a pulmonologist and your CT scans have cleared up. Just because you test negative for the virus, doesn't mean the illness is gone. My heart began to race after 6 months of being ill. After 3 months, we tried a shock to the heart to get it back to a regular beat. My heart beat was normal for 7 hours and then the pounding of it woke me up. I was still in the hospital. I got 3 meds. Later we reduced it to 2. I hate the pills but my Doctor seems to think that the racing heart is still there, but controlled. I sometimes have times of tiredness. The meds take away a lot of motivation. My memory is slowly getting better. I couldn't even add in my head. Still, it is 18 months after the hospital stay and as of 12 months after the hospital stay, I have been feeling better. It's a process and each of us is so unique in our diet and lifestyle, that I don't believe that there is one solution for this. Another friend had it for 6 months and saw many specialists for her heart and loss of breath. She had to take off from work for 8 months after Covid. She is still tired easier. She is 16 years younger than I am.

I didn't feel mentally anxious, but my Dr. also said that it was being excited/nervous. That was when my heart was racing and pounding like a drum. My heart is strong and this is all puzzling because I considered myself to be fit. Another friend had this too, ran to the hospital in panic, but she wasn't having a heart attack. Her condition improved and she is now back teaching, after an 8 month sick leave. She knew a heart specialist personally. Advantage for sure.

In the gym, I do short aerobics on medium intensity gradually up to maximum 120 heart rate normally. I don't go beyond because I fear my heart is "perhaps" weaker after covid. But very recently I feel I can now go up to 130. Perhaps it's all in my head, I have always been a hypochondriac.

I believe I'm one of those who had too strong an immune system. To protect myself against covid I worked out every day for almost a year, got in the best shape of my life with a six pack for the first time in my life and 12% body fat. I worked out in a fasted state, ate only 1 keto meal per day, drank 2 protein/organic veg powder shakes per day, lifted 4x per week, 3x per week I did interval sprints, no sugar and only veg carbs and took a 25 minute sauna every day. Each of those things is supposed to improve your immune system and honestly I felt like superman. Then I got covid and it almost killed me. Two months in the hospital, my lung collapsed twice, I had pneumonia and hallucinations to the point where the doctor put me on schizophrenia medication and my body now looks like shit with no muscles, skinny legs and arms and a bloated round stomach from all the steroids. The bottom line is that you should never take it for granted that just because you're in good health with no co-morbidities that you'll be one of those people who barely notice their symptoms. And yes, I was unvaccinated.

@@byebyeworldx. I was under a doctor's care the entire year before just to get in the best shape possible. I was taking everything imaginable and all my levels were constantly checked. We didn't get the first and second variant but we had the omicron 3 weeks ago. It was very mild for us that the fever and chill went away after a day or two. We also didn't get cough and cold. My 84 yrs old mom in law had runny nose for a week. My diabetic husband had fatigue for almost two weeks. I had itchy throat for a week. My kids didn't have symptoms. We all take vitamins everyday and ate healthy. Lots of prayers, positive thoughts and exercise. Not vaccinated. We eat a lot of ginger, onion and garlic. For whoever this may help: I tested positive on New Years eve. Recovery wasn’t too bad: bed ridden, nausea, cough, loss taste and smell (returned after 1.5 weeks). Then got better just weak. -2 weeks after negative result, I started developing shortness of breath and cough. I had lung inflammation. Was on a steroid for two weeks and all better - 5 weeks in, chest pain and can’t take a full breath in. Inflammation is back and hardcore, I feel like I’m getting worse by day and the masks at work aren’t helping at all, I feel worse. I’m blaming myself because right after testing negative I went back to exercising. Some hit workouts and some not so hard targeting specific muscle groups 5 times a week. Did I do this to myself 😭??. Did anyone feel fine and bam got hit with inflammation after? -

Yes, it's like I had it once, started to feel better than bam it took me down again and i was seriously sick for another week and a half. Felt better enough to return to work but had to go home every day after work and have a 2 hour nap! I caught Covid December 21, was finally tested December 29, received results December 31, 2021. Returned to work January 17, did naps every night after work for first and second week. Now February 11 feeling better no naps but still not back to 100%. Still have shortness of breath from simply walking! Still feels hard to breath at times. Night night seems to be the worst time for coughing! I just want to kick it to the curb!

You can do deep breathing exercises and one of those spirometers/lung exercisers that you inhale through a tube to make a ball float help you increase your lung capacity over time. Some gentle walks as tolerated don't hurt either, again, only as tolerated. I've been dealing with this 12 months now, so I have to get moving again somehow. Your muscles atrophy.

Yes, mild gentle exercises like yoga and walking are better. Your body needs rest when recovering from pneumonia. It's all about taking it slow and stopping when your body says stop. Deep breathing also helps keep the diaphragm strong.
