I don't think he was trying to be rude but it's obvious that its not something most humans would see. The fact that both Hikaru was surprised by it and Praggs face showed exactly how shocked he was and these are both super GM's, amongst the top 10 players in the world rn.
@djconnel
@djconnel Месяц назад
There's a tendency in chess coverage to think all players are poor, constantly blundering when they don't find the top engine move. This is different than in Kasparov's time when there were good moves, brilliant moves, and blunders, but players weren't expected to find all of the brilliant moves, and "blunders" were rare for the top players. I think Hikaru is trying to remind us that just because engines claim a move is imperfect doesn't make it a blunder: you can't fixate on the eval bar and assume players can keep it from moving.

Kudos to Pragg for participating in the conference rather than simply retrating to his hotel room for analysis. It's clear here his brain is simply firing faster than Hikaru's, as he relies more on experience and intuition, while Pragg is a calculating genius (maybe benefiting from age). But calculating alone has its limits. This is like a chess masterclass in calculation. Amazing stuff.

Gukesh and Pragg (and Arjun) need to learn when to shut it down and play it safe. These youngsters are fearless to the point of being foolhardy at times. As Pragg himself admitted that he made the wrong decision when he clearly saw the draw with Rc5, but then decided to play for the win. A similar thing happened with Gukesh against Alireza. I believe that this is the only thing that is keeping them from achieving great results in super GM tournaments. In this regard, they can learn a lot from Anand.
