@@crazyplays7900 this exercise is not gonna magically get you a partner because you look an inch taller. make sure u take care of ur appearance and are confident but respectful and you'll get women.
It really is a sign you need to work on it. I’ve progressed from doing light chest stretches (in a doorway) to using a foam roller on my mid/upper back. Slowly roll up and down with arms outstretched to the sides, pausing every once in awhile and just laying back on the roll. Not only does it stretch out tight muscles in the FRONT (chest, ribs, etc), but it also works out knots in the BACK that occur from poor posture. I foam roll a couple days a week for like 5 mins each session and it keeps my neck pain away!!
@@coryjohnson2486 this is called myofascial release. The idea that joints, muscles tissue, and nerves are actually longer than the mobility we're allowed. We are limited neurally and myofascial release with a foam roller allows for the muscle-brain connection to feel safe in certain position so it won't restrict itself. Fascia also is very flexible and almost net like, but it's strong and can calcify if left stagnant in certain positions. So doing foam rolling, massaging muscles/nerves afflicted, and posture exercises will not only correct posture and mobility problems, but also give you a wider range.
@@entertheabyss9785 you got it- myofascial release! I know exactly what ur talking about, but u put it in better words than I could 😂. I’m glad that a friend introduced me to foam rolling because getting deep tissue massages can become expensive! Lol

My man. The way you spoke in this video is Soo smooth, not insulting anyone's posture, not making people bad for themselves and showing them a technique they can use if they want to improve their posture. This way of speaking is something i really admire. Earned my Respect.
How is allowing people to believe that poor posture isn’t bad for you a good thing? If you care about people and they are doing harm to themselves you try to correct them because you care about the outcome and quality of their life
@@SerV689 Yes. Having a bad posture is NOT NORMAL AT ALL. Just try doing exercise while being stuck with your neck at the front and your core at the back
@@meplease2506 Actually, you can't make anyone feel insulted. If they are susceptible to feeling offended, it's by their own creation. IF someone gets offended, that is clear evidence of an insecurity that they are being shown by the person that "supposedly" offended them. In reality they did the "victim" a favor, by showing them that they have a belief about being a victim. Which they are projecting with their over-reaction. That knowledge really serves the individual in becoming who they want to be, compared to who they were.
@@PsychoBackflip i get what you are saying and i agree with you but we can still choose our words more carefully because everyone of use feel insulted in some way or another even tho they didn't mean to insult or harm us and what you said somewhat supports the perpetrator becuase it can cause something like : ''I didn't mean anything and you are only making it on your mind you are deslusional'' kind of talk And i come to realize that the more you hate yourself the more you hate other people and the more you want to change yourself because you hate yourself you try to change other people and there are so many comments people feeling that ''how can you be comfortable with a bad postured body?'' it is because they love themselves unlike you

As someone with a structural hyperkyphosis (meaning I can't correct posturally, my bones are literally the wrong shape) I really appreciate the way you spoke about it and posture more generally in the video. I was bullied for the way my spinal problems make me look and often these posture videos leave me feeling awful about myself but for once I felt respected and treated with kindness.
Here is something that should help you out allot, 1 get yourself a peanut foam roller, 2 get yourself a pull-up bar, 3 get yourself a pair of fluffy tennis wristbands, and 4 get yourself a pair of weightlifting straps. Step 1 lay on the peanut foam roller and have it at the top of your upper back, lift your butt off the ground a little bit so your back is leaning more onto the roller, breath in your nose and out your mouth slowly until you feel the muscle go loose. Step 2 slowly roll onto the next part of the spine just below the part you just loosened, and repeat what you just did. Step 3 when you get to the lower back, just roll back up the spine slowly, and then back down the spine slowly, increase the speed slowly until you feel like there is nothing tight in the mid and upper back muscles anymore. Step 4 put some weight on your sternum whilst you are on the roller, try to find the max weight you can hold on your chest whilst still being able to comfortably deep breath, now roll up and down the spine to fully loosen the muscles. Step 4 put your tennis bands on, put your weightlifting straps on, stand on a platform and wrap the straps around your pullup bar, don't have your hands wide, keep your hands directly above you shoulder width apart only, now take your feet off the platform and completely hang, do this and deep breath until you start to feel a burn in your back somewhere, or until your hands get a little tired then stop. If your hands get a little tired then take a short break, then hang on the bar again, and keep going on and off until you feel a burn. Step 5 get a chair or a foot stool, get on your knees and rest your elbows on the edge whilst having your hands behind your head, deep breath again and let your back bend like a bridge, now if you dont feel anything happening on your back, then move your knees away from the chair a little, then go back to bending, and now you should feel a little pinch happening on your back, now deep breath until your back can't take anymore and then you are done. Now you can do the exercise in this video, but you will be able to do it way better from having the flexibility to be in the proper position, also you will get more out of it from being able to better contract the right muscles. You do have to go to a chiropractor as well though, getting all the vertebrae pushed back into their correct position can only properly be done at a chiropractor. Now once thats done you emmediately start doing what I explained above, this will speed up you being adjusted into a better position, and then it will keep your upperback from having to get pushed back into a better position again. Hope this helps you out allot ❤️🙂
@@bulletproof1581 I know you want to help and give proper advice, but many times you can't do nothing with your back unless you go to surgery and this applies to Morbus Scheuermann disease too. I've been trying to keep my back from further deteriorating by doing many pull ups + different exercises (deadlifts and squats are also very viable if health allows it) and as years went, I can proudly say that it stoppped.
Like the rest of us goblins do, and yes it actually does help I used to straighten my back out against a wall after playing video games hunched over for like 20hrs straight lmao definitely should do this wall technique everyday to keep a healthy spine! Gamer scoliosis is real I swear lmao

A really good trick to add to telling yourself to "stand up straight" is to activate your deep core. Many people know what their core is and can tense their abs for a little while but they rarely activate their pelvic floor and lower abdomen muscles. It will help your balance and posture amazingly. Bit of random video but woman explains quite well. "5 Exercises to improve balance" Indy Jamma Jones 3:07 into the video.
Awareness of your posture in general is the first step. You are already well on your way inside you to making it happen. Try a pull-up bar and let your body relax into the stretch. This for me works wonders, and with my stretching and qigong routine, I am sure i grew at least an inch or two by opening up my spinal column’s spaces. Also helps to release pain as well.
Just do I what did: Get you're parents to send you to a boarding school as a toddler which is ran by a mean and violently abusive, completely unhinged, rac*st British lady. Who will literally beat and violently train the lessons of etiquette and poise into you from a young age thus effectively guaranteeing the lessons will forever remain as part of your identity on a subconscious level... (fair warning though there's a sh*tton of trauma that comes with this method, but idk childhood trauma for straight back seems like a fair trade I guess.)
If a person doesnt understand what theyre doing is wrong then theyll never change it. Having a bad posture is seen as unattractive because a person with bad posture does not care about their physical health.
I disagree. I think people could be less sensitive. He’s giving out good advice with a spoonful of sugar, but if you take his advice you must agree it’s unattractive. It’s needles body positivity. Either love yourself or don’t and change. It’s real cringe to hear people condescended to like this.
What the fuck thats insane. My posture was ass and I was never able to fix it. I did this exercise once and it feels like the most normal thing in the world to sit straight up. For it to stay like that I will have to do it more often tho
Was just gonna say all the things they say during physical therapy for at home or work exercises made no sense or improvement this looks like it makes sense .. and my back possibly not hurt as much / become straighter 🥴
@@2GoatsInATrenchCoat the pain might not be from the posture shape as much as muscle tension at times, i.e. when drawing or on the computer and ur shoulders get strained bc the arms and neck have been tensed too long. He made another video on this same stretch on tiktok quite a while back. I work in a hospital and after every shift I do this on the elevator on my way out. The cracks that I get from between my shoulders is unreal. This stretch has changed my life. I've never been able to pop this section of my back before. So satisfying
Thank you so much for saying the curve isn’t unhealthy. I hate my “tech neck” and do want to straighten my spine, but knowing it would be just for personal aesthetics takes away a lot of pressure
Unfortunately it’s not quite that simple there is a point where it’s a problem and I’m there 😢That being said pt is working wonders and it hasn’t been a big issue for me as much as of late
It is extremely unhealthy. Affects neck, lower back, hips, walking, even migraine-connected. Please don't argue or believe what you want to believe. Anything unnatural like that is nothing but bad.
It’s definitely not optimal as we age. Just think of the forces involved. We are putting more pressure on smaller surface areas when we hunch over or arch our lower back

@@GreyKingsOfficiala rep means you do an action once, so for example lets say you do a single push up that is 1 rep. Now you do 10 pushups back to back one after another thats 10 reps. When people say sets they mean how many times you will do 10 pushups. So lets say you do 10 pushups you rest for a minute and then do another 10 you completed 2 sets of 10 reps of pushups. In the context for the video he is saying to start off with raising and lowering your arms 10 times one after another in one sitting, so 10 reps. Hopefully this helps put it into context and makes sense.
I’m going to name a Villain Kyphosis. And his entire shtick will be that he manipulates your body and forces you into extremes of posture. He has other abilities, but he makes sure that you are stuck in whatever position feels the least natural and comfortable to you specifically at the end of any fight.
My insecurities in my teens seems to have put me down the path towards hyperhyphosis, and I gotta say you make that stretch look crazy easy, I can barely manage with just my elbows on the wall :,) I want to correct all those years of poor posture and flexibility, and this seems like a really good simple step to work towards that. Your advice is really helpful and motivating, thank you!
I know right, maybe there’s some people who don’t usually keep their backs straight might be difficult, or maybe it wasn’t difficult in general. Idk depends.
This comment made me get up and do it and I scrapped my hand on a mirror mounted to the wall and now it's bleeding. 😂😂 I just thought it was important for you to know what happened due to this comment.
I figured out this one on my own while trying to relieve back pain and that stretch feels like heaven. You have to start slowly though especially if you're not used to moving or else it will hurt A LOT
I had to do this in pt because of my weak joints I'm SO GLAD to see a short for it! Thanks man your doing an amazing thing for a lot of people! This exercise saved me a lot of shoulder pain from 9 years of competitive swimming

I love how David is just loaded with interesting knowledge, and endless routines for varying goals. Definitely my favorite fitness influencer out there.
That tall, noble posture feels so much better, especially when combined with low breathing. I used to slouch, and then I learned to sing. Making that adjustment is worth it.
I'm 33 years old and in pretty decent shape, but I still hurt my back at work a couple years ago just by turning my torso in the direction opposite where I was facing....basically hyper-extended something due to low flexibility. Was out of work for a month, I got better after a lot of rest and therapy but have dealt with similar and related issues ever since. The value of having a healthy posture and a flexible spine CANNOT be overstated.... You never know you'll hurt yourself until it's too late, so you can't ever be too safe.
I had pretty good posture as a teenager and then I had a crush who had ‘bad’ posture and I thought he was so cute I ended up mimicking it 😂 I’m trying to get back to a better one again though because when I’m sewing all day it can become uncomfortable
I got compliments on my posture as a teen, then had twins at 20. When I say I slump, I’m not kidding, and it hurts! I’m working on it, but my core needs strengthened and it’s a whole ‘nother lifetime since I was able to stand up straight. Those twins are 22.5 years old now, and I was 20 when I had them.
@@Empyrean_Enigma her core stability was obviously negatively impacted by birthing twins man show some consideration. It’s not just the case of “stop slumping” when it takes deliberate consideration and isolated training to re-establish a better natural posture.
@@johannesjrgensen440 you’re 100% right, when pregnant it’s like your body wants to curl towards your belly, and it takes so much energy from you to be pregnant, and then when you have the babies, you hold them to your breast and your posture naturally curved towards your baby. It’s unnatural to sit straight while holding a baby.

Nah man I played trombone. You think anyone sees us back there? I look like the hunchback of notre dame due to putting more hours into video games than sleeping for 20 years.
Kyphosis is bad because it compresses your chest cavity, reducing lung air volume intake and increasing chest pressures. This adds strain on your lungs and heart, which leads to many health issues. There is also nerve irritation in some individuals.
