I have never seen a trailer like that! There was some serious engineering in it!

Its a shed trailer and they're like $20-$30k but will move the trailer up/down, left/right, in/out. It has a set of wheels underneath perpendicular to the drive wheels that are hydro driven to align it for pickup and drop-off. Look them on youtube, very cool to watch in action.

If you get a mixer that has a tight slump like that on initial start and you ordered a 5 inch slump it generally means that the driver either did not slump it correctly or it was batched with dry aggregate which is not good for the concrete or you nice job though I was a mixer driver and batcher for fifteen years

I spent about 24 years piloting Oshkosh front discharge mixers, and will say up front that the driver didn't do you any favors on that pour. If I had laid out a slab in that manner for any of the crews around here, they'd have drug me out of the cab and had a reckoning. However...it's just one of those experience things. :)

that's a cool trailer, this isn't for everyone but when pouring concrete, if you have some left over fill 5 or 10 litre buckets with it and pour into rubbish bags, one bucket per bag, tie a knot in it and leave it on level ground, you end up with stepping stones.
@AndrewCamarata

Check your contractors for any Better Business Bureau ratings and/or activity. Also check for reviews on "Home Advisor" site, "Angies List", and your town's Chamber of Commerce (if that is what its called), etc. . If the contractor is to do plumbing and/or electrical work, for example, check them for licenses. Ask friends and relatives about them too.

This is piss pour job. None of the edges are finished. You can see huge stride marks from the Fresno. It was burned in(shine finish) to stop the freeze thaw. No proper compaction underneath slab. No joints cut. That shit would be getting ripped out on any job site around this area.

My neighbor had a contractor do this same exact thing. Never removed grass just dumped Stone and formed. Poured 6" of concrete and left. After winter he called me to come see his pad, which I did and I was just shocked to see it cracked and parts sunk. He ended up explaining how the inspector told him it would be fine. Along with the contractor. Of course the contractor went by the engineers plans so he said. I ended up cleaning up the mess and starting over. Which cost him more but I explained that he got what he paid for. Now he has a nice pad with a 24x30 garage on. And is extremely happy with me for steering him in the right direction. If my reps on the line then it gets done right, even if in the end I only brake even on it at least my reputation is still good. To me I'd rather save my reputation then cut corners. Not trying to sound like a dick trust me. I like the work you do, and you are an excellent operator. Everyone complaining about the concrete, it's just a garage, not a 4 bedroom bungalow, it's more than adequate for that purpose . . I swear, if the world ever needed an expert, they would be found in the youtube comments..

@@Maddiethebaddieeee Bullshit. Look at that finish. Its complete crap. What is your standard for work, SHIT? If I gave this job to a new man and he said he could accomplish it and I came out to the site and saw this, I would cut him his first and last payroll check from my company and tell him to get off the job site. I would then get a crew out there to demo the his garbage and do it right the first time. And I'm not even mentioning the fact there are no footings excavated for this job. My daughter who never did a lick of concrete work can run a fresno or even a bull float across that mud and end up with a better finish than that mess. I knew it was going to be a shit job when I saw the half-assed effort to screed it and then the cat fiddle farting around with the trowels not knowing what he was doing. And to top it off he didn't even edge the job. It's complete shit. Anybody that defends this bullshit never worked real, licensed construction contracting.

You needed some wooden stakes around the outside to keep your walls in line. I would have made it deeper around the edges for a floating footer and put some bricks to hold up your wire. Should have cleaned grass out and packed the soil down hard, I bet you will see it cracked and parts have sunk. Sorry !

Anyone else notice they poured that shit on topsoil as well as an area that he just dug a stump out of? It’s gonna sink and crack and drop. SMH

All these so called experts are the ones who do a perfect job by their own personal opinion for someone and the homeowner has a problem with the job and never come back to fix or address the complaint ..... Keep doing what your doing Andrew no one is perfect on this earth.....live n learn you can't please everyone.....right haters!

As much as I would like to see some kind of footing and a screed bar to do a better finish. There's one important detail that Andrew doesn't explain. Exactly what did the owner specify? That would stop a tremendous amount of negative comments. As a carpenter myself, I can do one hell of a great job, but if the owner wants a half-ass job that's what I'll give them. Love your videos Andrew, you're doing great work.

Better get a cover on that side patio ASAP! With a flat slab like that, it will bring water under your new garage walls!

No site compaction, ( and don't tell me the excavator did it!) is kind of worrying, especially where the stumps came out. What about expansion cuts, no need? Scary, low cost job to me, then again, I'm not the guy paying for this either. BUT, I will say that is a good idea in garage ' building' and placing, and with that "car port" or shed parking offset, it's neat and tidy. .
@AndrewCamarata
@AndrewCamarata 6 лет назад
I'm going to tell you the excavator did it though. Look I filled it in layers, and packed each one, and I pulled every piece of wood out I saw. The slab will never have an issue.

No attempt to grub the organics off the surface and a half-assed effort at root picking, no scarify and re-compaction, no gravel compaction??? That slab is destined to fail, but not before this "contractor" gets out of town with the homeowner's money.
@jlf9999

I agree. I never saw a slab that didn't have expansion joints or control joints. Did he use an edger?

pay no attentions to all these concrete experts on here Andrew. 8" of concrete is about double what most garage floors get. And not like that garage will ever have anything more that a small SUV parked in it. Maybe the finish could have been done a little bit smoother but it's a garage floor. Now if this was a commercial garage then I would say it would have needed more attention payed to it's installation. But your not going to get that kind of money on a residential installation and that floor will still be there in great shape long after all those naysayers or gone.
