Ellie: You have any nicknames? My bard: Some have called me lover, you're welcome to join them. Serious offers only. Ellie: Alright, seems like you might have hit your head when you went down. ROASTED. Ellie: Wow, that's quite a nasty scar. How'd you get that one? My bard: There was this girl, she broke my heart. Ellie: Yeah, I bet you tell that story at parties. ROASTED. Ellie: This might sting, by the way. My bard: Not more than your wit has done already.

"Any secrets you're keeping from your party?" "Strahd is paying me to kill all of them." "What?" "What?"

Healer: "Where are you from?" Me: "I'm from everywhere I've ever been." Healer: "Wow, you're a long way from home." Me: "...That was equally incorrect and extremely profound."

I must say, when I'm being patched up by a medical professional, I'd rather hear "I hope we never have to do this again" than Nurse Joy's "We hope to see you again soon"

Where'd you get that scar? Me: Alpaca. What's your favorite animal? Me: Not Alpaca.

Ginni: "Any secrets you're keeping from the party?" Arco (my Kenku) I dont actually sleep with any of the woman i take to my room... I actually just ask them to tell me a bedtime story and then sing me to sleep because somedays i miss my mom..

"I'm sure you're a great warrior, just try not to be such a great target." That's a great quip that I'll have to remember for when my bard brings the fighter back up with her healing word.

Plot twist: Ellie is a Necromancer with Healer's Kit proficiency. She's mostly in it for the spare parts.

Healer: Welcome back to the world of the living! My vampire rogue: Wait, how the hell did that happen?

Ellie: How old are you? Solfryn, my amnesiac high elf Druid who thinks she’s from the moon: About two weeks old, why?

Eliie: complains about not liking camping. My gnome wizard: spends ten minutes enthusiastically explaining why the Tiny Hut spell is the best thing ever.

"What's your name?" Ivan. "Where are you from?" Underdark. "You're a long way from home, do you miss it?" No. "Do you plan on going back?" No. "Are you a jokester too or more of a serious type?" Take arrow out of me.

Ellie: "There was a time when I thought I wanted to do adventuring on my own. Never got the guts to actually do it." My bard: "Well, now you have some of mine, maybe you'll change your mind."

"Try not to get shot at" My wizard: "I'm honestly just glad that arrow didn't kill me."

Elowyn: "Are you a jokester too or more of a serious type?" Xiro: "I'm a bard. Humor is my religion."

"Try to be less of a great Target" Well, if i am less of a target, my Wizard gets shot instead, and we can't have that now, do we

Me, a warforged: I have several questions about how are you doing this procedure

Her: "How did you get that scar?" My character: "I prefer not to talk about it, let's just say my dad was a violent person" Her: "Yeah, i bet you tell this story at partys" Me: surprised pikachu face

"Hey, did the healer take care of that arrow?" "Yes... but she also made me a lot of questions... and I don't think I ever knew myself..." "Need a drink?" "Do I? DO I?!!!!"

Ellie: "Any party members in particular you were real worried about?" Me: "My brother, Rae, the one with the red skin, is he alright?" Ellie: *proceeds to not answer my question* I was so in character I actually got a bit mad about that for a sec

“We’re you worried about anyone?” Briel the halfling cleric and team mom: All of them.

ellie: [discusses amputation] my money-hungry artificer: "Hey, let 'em know I've got a prosthetic I've been meaning to sell!"

“That was quite a look. Have you been dead before?” My aasimar sorlock whose entire trauma revolves around having been killed, waking up a year later as a fallen aasimar, in service to the thing that killed him: 👁👄👁

Ginny: "Got any hobbies that could pay the bills?" My character, a sex worker paladin: I'm an accountant.

Ellie: "How well do you deal with pain normally?" Character: "I like to think pretty well." Ellie: *(Threads a damn awl to stitch the wound)* Character: "I stand corrected."

my character, with 3 healers in the party, waking up: *visible confusion*

"Try not to get shot at." My Abjuration wizard, "I'm a bit surprised they managed to hit me."

healer: “-but you can call me Elly” my half-elf who also shortens her name to Elly: “oh no…”

My character lost her left arm in an accident while attempting to craft a magic weapon, so that amputation joke got some serious side-eye

Ellie: You have a five year plan? Aed: I'm an Aarakocra, our life expectancy is 30 years, and I'm 2. Five years is forever from now.

Ellie: *taking an arrow out of my character's torso* My ranger: *deeply insulted that someone shot their shot before she had a chance to do it first.*

"I am sure you are a great warrior" Me: *Screaming in D6 hit dice*

“That was quite a look, have you been dead before?” My hollow-one paladin: well yes, but actually yes, a lot.

ProMode: now do this scene but your character is a kenku.

“Hope you don’t like this shirt-“ My halfling bard: “you could just unbutton-“ *RIP* “-yeah okay, it’s fine, replaceable.”

I think this would also make a good exercise for getting into character interactions. Many players create a full and complete character with plenty of background and motivations. They could describe that character very well, but when they get to the table their interactions with the other PCs stumble. The difference between planning and being able to improv but be their character. A good improv exercise for rpg gaming.

Healer: " Whats your favorite food ?" "Or you one of those lucky bastards who can just sleep anywhere ?" *Laughs in Warforged*

I already have a ton of ideas: A bandit you've captured making conversation (or trying to trick you into giving out info or place mistrust in your mind) A guard interrogating you after an "incident". A noble looking to hire a sellsword. (Work interview XD)

Elliwyn saying she's old when she just turned 90 meanwhile my dark elf assassin is 512 and still has years to go

Ellie: "did anyone see my bonesaw?" my character: "oh shit" *feels his stitch for any metal*

"I need to go amputate a leg." My healer: OH NO THAT'S OKAY I'VE GOT GREATER RESTORATION!! We need more please :)

You should totally do more videos like this! This is going to help me so much with my roleplaying, as I'm in 5 campaigns and still find myself not bringing my characters to the table. Thanks Ginny you're the best!

Ellie: "Have you been dead before!?" My Time Thief Aamad who's stuck in a timeloop of always getting reborn every time he dies shortly after rediscovering in his loop that he has time manipulative powers and probably has never gotten this far: "Well, like some healers have theorized, it's getting born that's the traumatic part really."

She: How'd you get that scar? My character: Was a slave She: smiles

"I'm sure you're a great warrior. Just try to be a little bit less of a great target." Iconic

This was great my characters mother is litteraly a half-elf apothecary and he hasn't gotten to spend much time with her so it was like a weird catharsis

Her: You got any secrets you keep from your party? My plague doctor: I’m a carrier of the decease that killed half my village and thus motivated me to do what I do. I highly recommend you wash your hands well after this, seeing as my mask has been removed.

Elle: "I'm sure you're a great warrior." Me with my tiefling wizard. "I mean I can take out ice giants if they don't take me out first."

Had a lot of fun. My generally uncooperative lizardfolk pirate mellowed out the more questions she asked. Looking forward to more. Thanks!

Would love to see more stuff like this! I was really impressed by how natural the whole thing felt, just hearing the concept I would have expected it to be a little stilted, but it wasn't at all! Stellar writing and acting!

Changelings when she asked about secrets: 😰 I'd love to see more of these. The context really helped in getting into character.

“Not-quite-ASMR DnD Roleplay” is my favorite sub sub sub-genre of video.

I couldn't help but answer as my current favorite character, Rixildimar Vox. Though I was forced to pause the video a few times because... answering as a bard has more levels of explanation to simple questions than is healthy. Oddly the question about who you would trust to take the stitches out made me rethink a thing or two about my current party. Quite enjoyable and thought provoking.

My aasimar rogue when she asked about sleep: Ma'am, I know I look human but I have prophecy dreams, how well do you think I sleep?

This was awesome! I never really thought about Asmonds pain threshhold as a whole before but now i realize "hey! His gun has a contraption that literally causes the handle to stab his hands with spikes to activate his blood rite, and he fights demons for a living. He's probably not a crybaby when getting patched up." Would love to see more!

The beginning with "welcome back to the world of the living. No! You didn't die, It was just a figure of speech" was Just perfect, because my kenku rogue doesn't get sarcasm or metaphores, so he would instantly panick from that phrase thinking he was literally ressurected from the dead

I was answering the questions as my latest character, Shafeed, who is a defensive fighter with warlock levels. I found her becoming less reticent as it went on, although some of that stuff HURT! Thanks for patching her up. Our cleric is often off about her own affairs.

Ellie: that is _quite_ the nasty scar! How'd you get it? My Dragonborn Fighter: I first started learning to sword juggle when I was 5. Piece together the rest.

I had to chuckle at the age question. When I had to introduce my new character to the party. The first person that introduced themselves was a war forged named 13. Her immediate response was “Is that your name or your age? “. After she gave her age the rest of the party introduced themselves with their name and age. In her notes, She beside the warforge’s name she has “Still don’t know if that is their name or age.”

Having to think about a new character's backstory right now, so this is very helpful! The RP aspect made it much easier to think in character!

I didn’t have a character in mind when I started this video, so I just started answering questions in character for a PC I don’t even know yet.

Meaning it felt like real conversation, and not an interview masked as real conversation. More please!!

GINNY OMG!!! I thought this was gonna be fun, but you blew away all my expectations!! this is SO GOOD! I'm starting a campaign soon with a bunch of newbies. I'll definitely ask them to work through this a little after the first few sessions.
