Powder Coating Wheels Super Chrome and Red Gold Dust
In the last video we showed you the process of picking up our media, stripping the wheels with Rim Strip from Express Chem (contact Matt and let him know 710 Performance sent you 314.266.4600.) We then used our small 100 lb Harbor Freight media blaster to blast them clean. We out gassed them at 375 for 35 minutes, blew them off again, now it's time to tape the up and powder coat them Super Chrome from Prismatic Powders.
If you're looking to get Prismatic Powders Super Chrome, it is discontinued, but around the end of the month, Prismatic Powders is suppose to be releasing a new "Super Chrome" color that actually has a lower curing temperature.
We did have a couple of day delay between the time we applied the Super Chrome to the time we applies the Red Gold Dust. When we first did the Super Chrome powder coat, the Red Gold Dust powder coat was out for delivery via UPS, but never arrived. We learned that it's best to not start a job until all the colors are there, even if it says it's out for delivery.
These wheels still came out amazing! The KF-X1 powder coating system is absolutely amazing! The quality of the finish is much better than our old system. It looks so much more professional, without all of the extra work! With the Eastwood HotCoat PCS 1000 you are able to get a good finish, but you have to put the work into it.
