I like the fact that Fujimoto uses Denji and Power exchange of blood as a symbolism of a kiss. A kiss is an exchange of saliva and Power and Denji "kiss" is an exchange of their blood. They never actually kissed, but their exchanges of blood is basically the same thing. It remains an exchange of body fluids just like a kiss.

my veiw of them was always "More than best friends, less than lovers." Kinda what I have with one of my friends. I find that this type of relationship is rarely done but it was done well here
Denji and powers relationship was one of the greatest things I've read lol, was done very well, really like the "more than best friends, less than lovers"
in my opinion the relationship was romantic on powers side and mostly platonic on Denjis side. in any case i always love it when peapol talk about these two with more nuance than just "they are just homies" or "they are like sibling".

I think it was definitely leaning toward that way with Power's feelings for Denji (even if it was rather one-sided as Denji didn't necessarily see her in that way). Power taking the time to remember Denji's birthday and surprising him with a cake was something very out of character for the normally selfish and inconsiderate Power, and only Denji could've brought out this side of her, such was her trust in him. They both don't know how to be human but they were learning the process together, especially with the nuances of friendship and being vulnerable with intimacy both physical and emotional. Power certainly loved Denji. In love with Denji, well, maybe with a bit more time that could've happened too but we'll never know thanks to Makima, which makes us hate the Control Devil even more for what she did to her and Denji.
For me, they reach sibling-hood. Power teaches Denji that women are more than objects of affection and lust. She shows him he can love a girl non romantically, just care for her. All of this is shown beautifully after the darkness devil attack when Denji comes to realize he feels nothing for her body, but just her safety is important. So I think what Aki, Power, and Denji form a true family with Aki as the older brother.
I think it is too simple to limit it to "siblings and nothing more". There were definitely signs that it was more than that, especially from Power's side. Contrary to popular belief, you dont need to view a woman as merely and object of affection and lust to love her romantically. They were both in a tough spot, neither devil nor human, not fully accepted on either side, nor did either of them particularly like either side. Similarity is rarely talked about when it comes to romance, but it really can do wonders for people being compatible with each other.
@@_Lumiere_ I mean that is my interpretation, and I don’t think is “too simple to limit to siblings”, for me that is even a greater love than romantic, especially at that point of growth for Denji. And when I say object of affection or lust, I don’t mean it to degrade the women or man involved, I am literally using it as the “object of his affection” just making the distinction between that romantic love tied to physical attraction vs familial love. Again, for me it makes it better than they love like siblings including Aki. But if you see it otherwise, that is also cool.

Well, maybe given a bit more time but their relationship was denied any further development thanks to Makima. Their relationship was adorable tbh they were so alike and fun to watch. I think if they were given more time something could have come out of it but as it was or is now they never really got to that point and thats ok. They were close friends for the time they had with wach other ❤
When I was reading Chainsaw Man for the first time, I can tell at one point Fujimoto wanted Power to be the Ideal woman for Denji. But probably changed his mind during publication. I never got the feeling they were siblings. They were too intimate for that, it was a form of sexual intimacy. I believe they were just too naive and child-like to realize they actually liked each other. I was hoping in part II Denji would look for Power but she hasn’t shown up yet. Hoping she does 🤞🏾 They are my favorite duo as well, I believe they were lovers, just was blind in not seeing it because of immaturity. Solid Video 👌🏾

Power and Denji's relationship is for me a great example of the concept of agape. It is unconditional, sacrificial love. A love built on mutual acceptance and respect. They genuinely relate to each other, a mutual understanding. Its what makes power's fate so painful, as she gave Denji that genuine emotional connection he so desperately needed
I do find it interesting how it was specified how it didn’t feel naughty to Denji, not intimate. Which could show how his relationship with power is more than just physical.

I agree! the closest relationships I've ever had were friendships. Having someone you can fight life with and someone that you choose is special. The emotional intimacy is so heavily focused on in a way that I appreciate so much more than any romantic relationship. (of course both loves and all other forms of it are special. just personally I find friendships more valuable).
I think "just friends" works because there's some restrictions ppl tend to place on how they express platonic affection. I think romance is just...a lot of other things mixed together. Platonic affection included. Using that logic 'just' isn't bad or good, just less complicated.
I love it when authors explore relationships that fall somewhere in the middle of the often binary scale of "explicitly just friends" or "explicitly romantic/sexual" Platonic intimacy is something that doesn't get a lot of attention in media and it's awesome that more people are learning to appreciate the nuances of a relationship like Power and Denji's.
You can definitely argue there relationship in any direction and you wouldn’t be wrong, the love they had for each over wasn’t limited by anything and that what makes their relationship great. It rare to see a relationship were I am honestly fine with it going in any any direction, I didn’t notice the dumpster call back which makes that scene even greater in my mind and Denji has a cat and dog in his system which is funny.

I've always seen it as power having a thing for denji but it never really is expressed properly weather that be because she doesn't understand human behavior or because fujimoto chose to leave it up to interpretation. Especially in scenes like in the dumpster that parallels the first chapter or the birthday cake scene (it still breaks my heart) its especially obvious. Power is my favorite character from chainsaw man so thank you for making this video
That's the perfect word for their relationship they just buddies they hangout together work together and look out for each other. All they know is that they like being around eachother and they don't know why buy it feels good so they keep doing it.
I would say, they aren't aware yet that they love each other. Its that kind of relationship with your female best friend. Very comforting and just feels like homely not an all consuming love, but a teen doesn't know it yet that the all-consuming "love" isn't actually love. The realization only happens when the teen has emotionally and mentally matured to understand it from life experiences.
They seem like "soulmates" to me, in the true meaning of the word, rather than what humans like to use the word for. Soulmates in a world where the soul is an actual game parameter, rather than just some word used in the instruction manual but has no real in-game effects.
I know im a little late but i think the perfect description of denjis and powers relationship is that they are platonic soul mates. They have a bond as strong as a lot of couples while just being good friends
the way ive seen it explained that i most agree with is that denji and power are soulmates, not necessarily in a completely romantic or platonic sense. they are just meant to be with eachother, and they make eachother happier than anyone else really could, even if their relationship doesnt fit into what would be considered a bf/gf, best friends, or even sibling relationship. it is something that exists outside of, and maybe even above, all of those.
Basically they are platonics and like siblings BUT it teaches us that the best Romances are deep friendships+extras as Power is the best relationship, romance and friendship included, that Denji ever had.
The video mentions that you can see them as Siblings, Lovers, Soulmates, Best Friends, etc. For Power to be a Lover is a fine perspective, since that's what Makima would've done anyways. She knows Denji and gave him everything he could ever want, including a roof over his head. How Denji reacts to what is given around him is the only thing Makima couldn't control.

Power and Denji seems like a really good example of a Queerplatonic Relationship. It’s a concept used a lot in the aromantic community to represent relationships that can be as intimate, loving and meaningful as romantic relationships but are ultimately platonic. Both in between a friendship and a relationship but also beyond it, ya know.

Looking deeper, Denji and Power seemed to understand each other in a way that is difficult to fully explain. It’s more caring and safe than family, more intimate than friends, closer than lovers, yet not romantic in nature. It’s a strange relationship between two strange people.
In a way, their relationship reminds me of parabatai in the Shadowhunter Chronicles. I really like that, i find that it is a great example of what what a 'soul mate' feels like--- but in the friendship department. I like that the author showcases this relationship through Power and Denji. Its very unique yet also something people can sort of relate to when it comes to having really close people in our lives. Love takes so many forms and looks different for different people. I am excited to read and watch more of that in Chainsaw Man.
Here me out fans of CSM. You need to stop coping and just deal with the fact that Part 2 is not continuation of Part 1 but the deconstruction of it. Don't expect return of Blood Devil. The goal of Fujimoto right now is to deconstruct everything that Part 1 was known for. Part 2 is much closer to Fire Punch territory. So don't be surprised by lack of consistency with Part 1. It's intentional.
while i agree Fujimoto basically pinky promised us in part 1 that power is coming back. and i trust that it will happen... at the most unexpected moment possible!
I thought part 2 would be more about denji living the life of chainsaw man like a vigilante while also raising Nayuta to be a better person in comparison to Makima. Boy that went so far south…..
i find it funny that the way a human works basically is that if you get to know anyone well enough you create this relationship with him if you have a soulmate you WILL love her like a bro and act with her like a bro, but if she is a he instead you would have the same connection but of course as friends and wouldnt go further into it. why? because the thing which adds to the "love" part is the attraction towards that person, as an example M+F= sexual attraction M+F+CON= Love M+M+CON= Friends and vice versa Of course if you as a man are into other guys then that its gonna be the opposite and vice versa since im not a girl i dont know the experience for women, but from what ive seen when i went out with girls and only had that attraction towards the body the relationship didnt last that much and it wasnt that good Ive known my bros far better and would interact with them far more while having good experiences with them and even tough i havent met someone who i could have an actual deep connection of the opposite sex i know that once i will most likely act with them similar based on what ive seen from my parents/other couples the sexual part only applies once your attracted, but a connection without the attraction is a friendship and the attraction without the connection is more or less an urge
Makima, the person who brought these two together and cultivated their relationship just so she could hurt Denji by destroying it, specifically states that she “gave Denji a little sister in the form of power.” It’s not romantic.
Maybe I'm thinking too much into this whole thing but it feels... Sad when you know that it takes that little push to love someone but you can't find the way to push in the right direction. It's just sad form to watch stuff like this but entertaining nonetheless
I think you can call them Girl and boyfriend they love eachother but they still are not fully a couple and havent got significantly intimate yet thats what i think fits the best to their releatonship.

I love these two and can't wait for my heart to be ripped out in the anime when "Bang" comes. Sound design and music elevated many scenes in the anime so I'm really curious how that particular show of power(punt intended) from Makima will be portrayed. Also Power behaviour is quite cat-like towards Denji, makes sense since her only companion she truly cared before was actually a cat.

It's hard to say because in that moment, Makima was gaslighting and manipulating Denji hard. It's at least implied that Denji might have once considered it but after cycling through manipulation after manipulation from the women in his life, Denji pushed all such thoughts away after the Darkness Devil arc and only wanted to take care of Power and make sure she was safe. There's no doubt that Power loved Denji. Was she in love with him, though? Maybe. The gifting of the cake from Power and Denji could've been that turning point in their relationship but we'll never know thanks to Makima.
I feel like that bath scene was just an excuse power made, to fulfill her desire to be even more close and intimate with Denji. They were essentially building a strong bond of love and becoming soulmates. This does not mean in a romantic or sexual in nature. One can feel love for others w/o it having elements of lust and romance. This was just a scene showing her strong desire to be with him.
Anyone who says the relationships are like siblings I feel just hasn’t read the manga. Just cause makima said she’s like a bratty little sister doesn’t make her the little sister and calling them siblings just makes me uncomfortable knowing how they interact in later chapters
