Power HD DS8309 servo is a very strong and fast servo. About 1/2 the cost of the HiTec 7985. Both digital. Both coreless. Both fantastic servos, but at this price point and with this comparison, the power HD is hands down the winner
I tested these and they are over 10 lbs on 1 inch arm at 6 volts. The gears are beautifully made,I put more grease on them thou. They are very fast and centre perfectly every time. They throw my 30cc katana around like a rag doll. Great servo and made in Taiwan.
@ZenonDorinPower He was not testing the torque per the specs on the servos... he was testing the servos VS each other, so it would not matter what length the servo arm is as long as both servos have equal length arms, etc...
looking at the video the power hd servo had the pot in a vertical position. The hitec had the arm the pot was mounted on at a angle. This would move the centre of mass further outwards, so more torque would be applied to the hitec. So that part of the test I thought as inaccurate. However the rest of the video was good.
@T3beatz The only reason that I prefer a programmable servo is mainly for elevator control that is one can reverse one servo with out having to go and buy a servo reverser which consumes more battery power. So don't get me wrong it's a feature that stops one from having to go into the servo and reverse it electrically. This is the only benefit between the non programmable and programmable servos although there are other benefits that go along with them.
@T3beatz I know his measurement was just relative, but I mean the test may be inconclusive because (the arm being short and not vertical as it SHOULD) for one servo there might have been a higher load.
Can you tell me what components i will require where I want a servo motor with 180 degree rotation and where I need to change the product with which rechargeable battery and a illuminated switch or vibrator where I should know whether the motor is on or off... All these things should fit in 6 by 6 cm of area
The only thing that you did not mention is are they both programmable servos? Hitec 5000 and 7000 series are programmable which allows more features than a non programmable servo.
Not a fair test At time 6:17 he loaded the bucket of bolts while no power was on at the servo DS-8309 giving it an unfair advantage of rest time. At time 7:15 he loaded the bucket with power on the 7985 servo so the servo was under power a lot longer . If you are going to do a test make sure the test is the same all the way.
I need help controlling servos. I need a switch board where I press and hold a button it controls two servos to turn 90 degrees, then when button is released the servos return to 0 degrees, is there something you can recommend to me that I can use for this? Thank you kindly for your help
What sort of application is this going to be used on? We can make something to do this however I believe this can be achieved with a switch on most programmable radios? Please send us an email with these answers to info@redwingrc.com and we can help you with your questions. Thanks, RedwingRC
Power hd 8309 is better.i put it in my 1/8 buggy.no need to put a 20 kg capable one.yet they give 24 month waranty.highly recomended to those who need quality servo out there
@TOPHAT1966GS Is that worth double the money? also, probably over 85% of the servos on the market are not programmable and people have been doing just fine with out it. As long as you have a decent computer radio a programmable servo is not that high up on the list.
We have a wide selection of servos on our website but here is a link to programmable waterproof high torque servo the will allow 180 degrees of travel. www.redwingrc.com/Programmable-Monster-Torque-High-Speed-Magnetic-Sensor-Waterproof-Digital-Brushless-Servo.html Here is a link to several LED switches that you can turn off/on the power to your plane and receive voltage readouts of your batteries. www.redwingrc.com/RCCSKJ-Accessories/ Please send us an email at sales@redwingrc.com if there are any other questions.
