This is exactly why db doesnt do for me anymore, it was great when i was a kid when flashes and explosions could entertain me but as you get older i see how many flaw the shows has, i literally scratch me head about stuff people complain about in super when Z did the exact same stuff but because they all still sipping on the nostalgia juice they cant or refuse the see it
the same people who love z and hate super or even hate z and like super or love z and super and hate gt or love all 3 usually have never seen the og series..thats literally the only reason the show got popular in japan cause it was creative for its time and inspired a lot of future formulas....and its the best part of the 4 shows....and should be seen first...why do so many idiots in the west watch z and super and z first?...its after and its worse...its like starting at shippuden or post timeskip in one piece if they separated the anime...smdh.....wtf?....I just dont get it....if you actually enjoy the show dont you want to know how it all played out?...like they pretend as if you can start at z and not be lost or its a good establishment because you already know the characters..smdh….no its not...dragonball doesn't just introduce characters we know already or have kid adventures..theres part of that early on but then it becomes about actual arcs like red ribbon king piccolo and tien and then jr. and about martial arts teachings...we see actual philosophy and actual real life training and ideals morals messages convictions themes but these z fans don't know about any of that they just think about powers and plot I guess..they wonder why people make fun of z...cause its bad without the context of the foundation of the og series...
i watched around ine season of og dragonball and it was really fun. but then i kinda just stopped watching. i neverhad any motivation to watch z as it is pretty sloppy and the only reason actually began to watch any reason of it is because it was the team4star version. beyond the basic problem tho,i like the cellsaga and it was actually the first thing i have seen of the franchise as i began by watching an lp of a game adapting that saga. i have no idea about gt,but i actually plan to watch it eventually as it is one of these infamous works that everyone just hates. and super is just dumb. timetravelbullshit out if nowhere and the guy who made the "dragonball writing sucks"-videos(like this one) is actually wrong about the universe6 problematic. it is completely impossible for universe6 to have a powerlevel high enough to just trigger ssj like that. the only reason goku had a powerlevel high enough to trigger ssj in universe7 is because a threat was there that actively required ssj to beat. if they are stronger than goku was back then and that is how it usually goes,then one would assume that they already have ssj
except it's not the same people have pointed out the flaws with the buu saga before and I don't remember there being a power boost as stupid as say...frieza's boost in reserruction f z also didn't have any terrible villians and had a plot that made sense
Speaking of vertical progression, PlagueOfGripes made a video called "Huge Quest" which will be 5 years old 4 days from now. It's about a nobody and his quest to become the HUGEST. It's dumb and fun, and Plague animated it himself. I think you might like it.
theres something really sad about all these idiots watching super who have never seen the og series...if you played the 2 side by side not only would goku as a kid be a million more times more interesting but the show itself is more interesting...all super has is big attack spectacle flash and nice looking colors and art....thats it ..theres very little substance and all of that can be found in the original series x 4 so theres almost no excuse for fans to watch super over the og series besides the fact its new and was a continuing story when it was playing but yet we knew like the og series that it ends before z ends so its still pointless filler.. .like im okay with people watching super but watch all 4 series then..or dont watch any..it seem arbitrary to watch one or 2 series and just skip the others
It's dumb to limit a fighting based show to something as basic as power levels smdh in a show where characters have techniques like kururin who can cut anything despite being weaker than the foes he uses this op move on....martial arts experience training used to matter but in z you are born special smdh

"You can't attach a number to somebody's whole fighting acumen" is technically true, but if you have a character who is capable of putting out and taking in attacks that can destroy galaxies, they aren't going to be beaten by Bruce Lee regardless of how good he is at fighting.

I'm going to be honest... I might be the only one with this opinion, because just like the theory I have I'm one of the few that actually enjoyed watching GT despite the stupidity in the writing, but I feel like Super Saiyan 1-3 are the imperfect transformations and that SSJ4 is actually a true Super Saiyan transformation. 1-3 just have gold hair, a slightly different aura and that's about it. SSJ4 actually goes through a physical transformation. I could simply be rambling though, it is 1AM right now so I lack sleep.
Another thing I've been reminded of as of late - ever since DBZ started, there's been very little variety at all in abilities and skills, thanks to the emphasis on *"number vs. number".* I get it, though! By limiting the factors, it's all easier to write. But that also makes the setting and its characters bland and predictable - emphasis on "PREDICTABLE"! It's hard to chalk up victories to skill when it's all just the same palette of moves we've seen a million times before.
Maybe, but I can still enjoy Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z knowing that power levels are bullshit. Even Team Four Star acknowledges that and makes fun of power levels.
I think my biggest issue with the power levels is gohan..hes just a deus ex machina….it makes no sense that hes as strong as he is....then trunks and gotten are even more so but they are played off more as a end of story joke and its not like they beat anyone so who really cares...they are strong cause of fusion not just training at a young age like gohan was

Moreover, while not establishing rules and limitations within the setting of a story may allow for greater variety of potential plot points, it also allows for a greater level of narrative disconnect, both from an in-universe and real-world perspective, resulting in a greater chance of disillusionment for the audience.
surprise someone finally understood shounen energy, if you read many Wuxia and xianxia novels this is easy to understand but a average anime watcher does not understand unless its 100% explained like in Hunter x Hunter. i wouldnt say that DBZ bodies are 100% normal human as Goku, Vegeta and most of the fighters did train at 10x and 100x gravity but this in itself is not exactly strong enough to block rifles much less laser beams from alien tech.

Pixel Party Pals I enjoyed your reaction but I don’t like it when videos like this shitting on Ki and power levels cuz it’s not that retarded. It’s simple and silly at times yes, and it’s not the most consistent or smart. He oversimplified a bit of this video, but he’s right about Ki and such. I do wish they’d bring more tactics into Dragon Ball, it was mostly adventure based and now it’s more Fighting based. And yeah I think he messed up with the making the universe seem small and cut down the potential, he did fuck up with the world building. But he’s being a bit dumb because this goes for any fictional character faster than light. It’s a silly argument since any character faster than light is slowed down for us and of course talking at faster than light is crazy yet it doesn’t dismiss the speed or power they have gained. Seth, Chuck, and Geekdom goes over these things in Dragon Ball better in my opinion.
Now explain how Jiren can be stronger than Hit's ability to control dimension and time. It's really just because his number is bigger. Lol power levels are stupid. In DC and Marvel, the characters can go so fast like they want, and nobody say nothing because they give you a shit explanation like speed force, superman is the perfect example. He is super powerful because the sun and it not made sense, but nobody say nothing, I prefer not explanation to a shit explanation.
