Universe 6 Saiyans and Narrative Disillusion [DBG #3] REACTION 

I would've liked it if U6 Saiyans didn't know what Super Saiyan was, like they're confused when people start talking about it, then once they see the transformation they're like 'Oh that! Yeah we have that, we just have a different name for it.' Like they were going to go in this stupid direction then just take a U-turn and fix it.

Crappy character aside, I can't get enough of Kalifla's midriff though.

19:07 Toriyama kinda killed off SSJ2 in the BoG movie when Goku absorbed the god ki into his first transformation, I mean if good old SSJ1 has no effect on your opponent then you might as well just skip to SSJ3 or Blue. The power multiplier of SSJ2 is just not worth it at this point.

The real question is during the fight between the saiyan from u6 and Vegeta, V taught him how to go supersaiyan. No problem with that. But if all the saiyans are that strong, why are Klefa and Kale there? Aren't there any adult Saiyans who are far stronger than these kids by default who should be there? Are you saying that this power they they are all capable of attaining is only to be limited to these kids who keep it a secret when it decides the fate of their universe? I don't even watch the show despite being a big fan back in the day, but this seems really forced. Only U7 have warriors and the one with Jiren have a universe crimefighting organization.

Probably would've been better if the U6 characters were the main heroes of the Tournament of Power, and they developed their own Saiyan power in the process. They'd probably have been better received in the end if they went that route. But _of course!_ Toriyama couldn't picture anyone outside of U7 being worth any development! Dick move. ...Kind of why it's a relief to see each JoJo part feature a new Jojo to have their own journey (and how Joseph and Jotaro have handle the years as well, whether it be age or DIO-related trauma).

I like how gohan can can get handed every power up he needs by the plot and people love it. Then new saiyans show up like kid trunks, goten, and the universe 6 saiyans and get their plot power ups and its somehow different and bad because unlike gohan they didnt grow up and get attached to these new characters.

Random thought about universe 6 and the tournament of power: The threat of erasing the Universes never seemed very dooming, because we witness the story through the eyes of Goku basically and he just loves that shit. There was just almost no tension, because the erasure of the Universe was treated as a side note and the Tournament was what it was all about. The stakes were almost unimportant, mostly because they were treated as such by most of the characters with some exceptions. So yes, the dire feeling was not there at all, at least not for me, the tone just didn't match the situation. And I honestly doubt Toriyama gave it as much thought as the situation would indicate, but universe 6 - or at least some of them, apparently took the threat way more seriously. The Namekians of Universe 6 at least. I know this was probably just to explain how Namekians, who are by nature not really a warrior race, can be strong enough to participate without having Piccolos very exceptional (for a namekian) history. But they absorbed almost their entire species through Namekian fusion. As we know, that fusion does not just end or come undone, it is permanent with the stronger one practically absorbing the power and aspects of the weaker partner, but not the 'soul' (except in abridged of course, I loved that). So those Namekians wiped out most of their species to participate in the Tournament and save their Universe. And even when Universe 6 was wished back from the void with the Super Dragonballs at the end, unless it was part of the wish, which it wasn't, that fusion would not be undone. So the Tournament had lasting consequences for Universe 6, it almost wiped the Namekians from the universe. I guess those 2 fighters better get to hurling up those eggs. Sorry, just a random thought, I just feel like everyone is only looking at the Saiyans and maybe Hit sometimes, so I feel like that most likely accidental tragedy gets completely swept under the rug. (I realize this is probably not the right place to post this, I just felt like getting the thought out as it hit me. Other people probably have noticed that too, I just haven't encountered those people)

Actually no what Dragon Ball super does omits and retcons Established rules lore and continuity. Plague of gripes mentioned that Toriyama started Dragon Ball as a gag story of martial arts movies and such. That's because Toriyama is was a well-known gag manga with his hit series Dr slump. Had a gag manga editor. When he started to jump genres into the serious action genre of in weekly shonen jump specific editors to assist him. These editors who steered his story in the proper direction we're not loved by him. In fact Akira Toriyama didn't like how strict his editors were. In and turned all three of them into Dragon Ball villains major ones in fact. King piccolo, Frieza, and Buu. If not for his first editor the one king piccolo is based off That was no longer his current editor had a major effect on the Android saga. The Android saga would have just been Android 19 and 20. Even though he was no longer a his editor his criticism was enough to get him to change the villains. He got him to correct it twice. When 17 and 18 were introduced he criticized Akira Toriyama new villains again. He brought in Cell as a more intimidating threat for the Android saga. Toriyama is not a good writer he has people that criticize him to bring out the best and steer him in the right direction. Toriyama is also not the one who came up with Dragon Ball super that was Toei animation. Now Toriyama was involved in the Battle of gods movie. In which he needed Japan's government to fund it its production lol. And the only reason that movie got made was because his reaction to Dragon Ball adaptation Dragon Ball evolution made him want to make a proper movie for his beloved character. He also said he didn't know how to go about making a movie after all he is a illustrator and former manga Arthur. He was also older and has been getting older as the years went by. And so he needed some help from Toei animation. Every time people of the fandom bring up Toriyama as if he is somehow still producing manga at shonen jump. Or a animator or had any say over what is produced by Toei animation. So after Battle of guys became a hit Toei animation saw dollar signs and proceeded to milk a dead horse and further tarnish the legacy of Dragon Ball. Of course with the permission of the original manga Arthur. As long as they keep writing him checks he'll keep okaying it. His contributions to Super or simply tips notes and suggestions. That dose not equate to writing. Saying this character fights that character and wins you fill in the blank is not writing. He also included a few illustrations here and there. Toriyama is not working on a Dragon Ball super manga that's Toyotarou a former doujin artist for Dragon Ball AF. And again Toriyama only gives him tips notes and suggestions. Toyatorou was told by him to draw less when it came to how cluttered his manga pages look. But did no and proceeded to ignore that and continue on as he always does. He even traces old Toriyama works from db manga. Tips notes and suggestions cannot be forced because Toriyama is not the one drawing illustrating it. After all Toriyama has been doing more illustrations for games like Dragon quest his current art style looks terrible in comparison to his old work. You can spot a Toriyama's current art style by The telltale oversized character head and anorexic body build.

tarble's creation is the perfect example of why some ideas are lazy and just don't work..we have a 10 year anniversary of a series near to our hearts with characters we grew with and instead of focus on the cast maybe have vegeta fight goku for real they waste the animation for a new character his enemies and his wife that we didn't even know existed and then have children fight the big bad cause gag manga rather than take care of it in 2 seconds like ssj 3 goku as we all know could and get back to the party which we all wanted to see aka interactions from our characters ..maybe oolong and vegeta share some dialogue or videl and turtle..go crazy with the possibilities that are endless but nope gotta have it focus on this irrelevant plot with characters we may never see again..wasn't that so great?..its literally the only real new animation of dragonball from 1998-2010 that was legit and toriyama made..thats so sad...

actually watched this reaction a long time ago but it was recommended once more so rewatching it again and now felt like commenting on it. U6 Saiyans getting absurdly strong in record time would've been better if: a. it was already established that U6 Saiyans already knew SSj along with their unique evolution that made them innately stronger compared to their sister universe Saiyans that makes tapping into higher SSj levels besides God Ki much easier. b. if U6 is much peaceful than U7 and also thanks to Frost which iirc was the pretend hero of their universe keeping peace so there's really no need for U6 Saiyans to push themselves until the ToP unlike U7 which had world destroying threats constantly forcing the fighters to get stronger, besides the full-blooded Saiyans who're always itching for a strong fight. c. U6 Saiyans aren't as battle/power hungry as the U7 Saiyans so they may have latent abilities compared to U7 Saiyans but once again, never really pushed their limits beyond SSj until ToP, making their explosive growth in power more acceptable. d. if the show/writers/Toriyama explained the concept of Ki points more seriously, especially to the western audience, rather than half ass it as "back tingles". it downplays the supposedly legendary transformation.. which honestly already lost its legendary status in DBZ the moment man-made cyborgs(yes cyborgs), that might I add are suddenly much stronger than the previous villain - a planet-destroying space emperor, can easily whoop its ass.

Dragon Ball super writing is inconsistent blatant trash no ifs ands or buts about it. Pure spectacle does not excuse it.

I don't like super at all but ultra instinct is still cool ..and I liked jirens fight and design well enough if only they gave him more personality earlier ...and I still like beerus and whis as characters....that's about it..everything else kinda still sucks sadly..

I think people in the US need to understand that DB is for kids. It needs to be easy to follow for them. It’s no longer for grown ups because we are too busy working or don’t have time for anime’s like that anymore. The money, which is what matters, comes from kids watching.

I mean DBS is just ignorance in some scene. I’m not going to lie, DBS i didn’t like and I immediately got pissed when I heard it was being made. I was happy that they ended with Uub in DBZ everything felt rapped up. I like Kale and Caulifla design wise but they were written as Mary Sues for the battles just so we can see Kefla be form just so we can have a fluctuating Ultra Instinct Goku who uses a Kamehameha being in the process of being charged up and use as a skateboard to ride Kefla Ki Beam just to get blasted in the face! I mean the battle for the Universes felt like a crack fanfiction that someone made and the creator of Dragon Ball read it then try to make it into a logical plot but it makes no sense. But I’m still pissed they fucked with my boy Tien. Claimed he was strongest human on earth, but gets curbed throughout the rest of the series after he fights Goku for the first time. I like the Grape’s Saiyan they look cool. They look like they can just walk into a room beat the shit out of everyone and no one can complain about it, just because they can.

TBH i respect nothing PlagueOfGripes says his arguments either boil down to lore doesn't matter or he is uniformed.
