I still have my OG Dragonzord that has the big box between his legs. I'm definitely interested in getting this. I miss my hero so much r.i.p Jason David Frank. I looked up to him all my life. To the fact I get my haircut like him. I usually walk into a barbers with a picture of JDF on my phone and say "Like that" it's so surreal he's gone I'm broken with him gone
PSA - The feet are articulated but they painted the peghole and it's acting like a glue. You need to soak the feet in near boiling water so you can free the ball peg from the foot. The megazord hands that come with this guy are meant to grip the staff, not the handle. But heat those up first so it's flexible. Going in cold aint happening. Grumpy old man me: Boy the only instructions to make Dragonzord in Battle Mode I need are on my VHS copy of Green With Evil Pt 5. So far combining for that mode is far better then Legacy(even though it's exactly the same). Scale with Megazord - Most of the fault is Megazord has really long legs. ZAP Dragonzord scales with Legacy and SOC. Megazord is a stock fellow of a zord. Then of course Zyuranger cheated a lot.
Those missile fingers are really nice But I cannot see the "about to launch" ones as anything other than the dragonzord having just got his nails did Good for him, he deserves a rest day every once in a while
Josh I think you keep forgetting in the show it was guys in suits, it wasn’t actually robots that compounded that’s why the scale is “off” and certain things don’t sit flush 😂
The 2 extra tail sections are literally just extra pieces that just goes nowhere. The original 90's Dragonzord's tail only had 3 sections, which allows for a properly proportion size staff. The reason for the extra sections is just for a show accurate tail size for Dragon mode, which the SOC version did as well.
I love both of these, but from Day 1 I thought the Tyrannosaurus legs were too long (and the Sabretooth and Triceratops too big), and they've yet to show me why they made that design choice. The height difference between them just emphasizes that weird decision.
Just got my zap megazord and wanted to come here to mention that I find the best way to remove the upper part of the trex tail from the back is to move the mastodon leg cannons up and then grip the tail from below
I do not understand why they insist on putting the Dragon Core and the Dragon Tail on the Megazord Dragonzord Combo, that's never been a thing in the show or the comics or anything. I'd say it's for keeping all the parts together, but there's so many loose parts so that doesn't make much sense.
😬 Oh man, after watching all the drama that you went through to transform Dragonzord into Dragonzord in Battle Mode and Mega Dragonzord, I'm just gonna leave Dragonzord as he is when I display him. But I might transform him once to see if everything works right. ☝
You edited out the main reason i started watching this video lol. I need to see how to safely detatch the chest piece and all that lol. Im probably not ever gonna transform him tho but i was just curious about the if/how. Because this thing feels FRAAAAAGILE.
In both combinations with the Megazord, the biggest parts of the tail (his butt as you referred as) are just spare parts, they won't go anywhere and are off to the side
For some reason, the next one will be the Astro Megazord from In Space. I am sad that Titanus isn't next, but admit there are a number of Megazords I would like to see first.
this one has good and bad. I like its looks compared to some of the past releases. I won't display him in any other modes like I do the other versions. I do like that the green ranger can be put on the head the Dragonzord like the show had him. To me the original version combines the easiest,IMO you may have your own. I don't like the part where he looks like he has false teeth because the face keeps popping open in the mouth. Tail is awesome unlike all versions so you can have the great zord battles from the show. Love the video. You are getting better and better at these.
The one thing that's got me curious is the ball joints on Dragonzord's arms. I'm actually wondering if the ZAP Dragonzord's hands will fit on the SOC Dragonzord. It would be awesome if they were interchangeable. I'd be able to use the missile hands on my SOC Dragonzord if that were possible.
In honor of the passing of jayson David freak aka Tommy oilver we review the dragon zord from mighty morphing power rangers aka kyoryu sentai zyuranger
i didn't pick up the megazord (at least not yet?) and wasn't sure about dragonzord till price drop.. but in now I might want one next to my green ranger figure in honor of JDF.. but wow... the combination looks like you need a engineering degree and intense patience
I wish that the ZAP line was closer to a 7-inch scale. For one, it would be a lot cheaper. If Super Mini-pla/Shokugan Modeling Project can manage that size while maintaining articulation and transformation, I think Hasbro can. I just can't justify spending $100+ on multiple figures like this. Plus, at 7 inches, they could scale with the Lightning Collection monsters.
That's sorta what the Retro line is form and where Super7 is also throwing their hat. There are other companies doing things in this scale for the PR Brand as well.
@@vriderch1360 Yeah I don't think you get it both ways. If you want it cheap, no transformation. Want it to transform, it's going to cost a bit. Domestically Hasbro could probably get it below importing Mini-PLA's but it's still going to cost a bit. Furai is doing theirs for $110 at 8 inches. Even transformers can't really get it that low.
I get the feeling that they spend a lot of time working on detailing/greebling in the design tool and nowhere near enough time actually fussing around with the physical products. These aren't statues and they aren't figures using the same underlying body over and over again - each zord needs to experience lots of testing before its ready. Then again - I think that modern day Transformers also suffer from a lack of actual physical testing, so I shouldn't be surprised. They need to focus less on designing/making these toys *conceptually* and more time on designing/making these toys *physically*
I think this has just solidified in my mind that Hasbro doesn't actually _care_ about Power Rangers. It knows the real money is in Marvel, Star Wars and Transformers, so despite doing an adult collector's line, no one in the company actually considers PR worth the effort. It's as if no one in Hasbro ever actually playtests these things: someone thinks of an implementation and just do it, without seeing if it even works. As long as the promo pics look nice, that's all anyone there cares about.
question for you Toku Topics - why not buy a loose OG Dragonzord on E-bay and buy Repo lables from BD15 and clean it up - you might spend around $100, might not be 100% complete but it's still cool to own the OG ones
One reason is really easy, they were made with a non articulated brick with diecast on mind, some old systems don't work as well with modern figures when they weren't designed with articulation in mind
The Mega Dragonzord has always been a terrible combo, it's pretty much been a universal problem with all megazord/dragonzord combos that nothing lines up, stands up, stays on etc.
I had to ship mine back to Hasbro and reorder one today. Mine was missing the clasp on the left arm that clips to the one on the right arm. I really do love this thing though.
