I hope Disney Brain talks about "The Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog", the American-Irish original Ranger-esque medieval fantasy show made by Saban.

8:20 The worst part is that Time Force could easily solve their problems about "the villains are the clear discriminated group" if they said Ransik's group of mutants are mutants that chose to take the radical and violent way to lash out against society. Not really wanting to improve it, they just want anarchy. It event fits Jen's line of "people tried to help him, but rejected them". While they are mutants who are accepted (as seen with Lucas' car racing rival, Dash apparently gping back to racing at the end of his episode in a flashforward), and want to have change. Just show some mutants working at Time Force and that's it. And have maybe Notacon's case be a case of massive bad luck. That stealing veggies in the year 3000 is just that much of a serious business for some reason, and that, sadly even in the year 3000, the social status and the relationships between rich and the poor are as crappy as ever

On a side note I'm okay with Ransic's mutation being "cured" because I'm fully under the impression that it's just the disease part of his mutation that's cured, the stuff he needs those antidotes for. Not his entirety as a mutant.

I agree with you. After I read it, I found it to be so problematic with its tone as well as, the attitude of Jen. It was almost like she learned nothing from PRTF. Even her relationship with Wes was lacking here. It was barely explored and needed time to fully flush out. I feel like the editor here was seriously not paying attention to the problems this had and it should have been pushed back and revised. Another solution would have been making this a limited series. Playing devil's advocate here, if the writer had more that he wanted to say, but did not find that he had enough time or page length to do it. He should have pitched it to be a limited series, 6-8 issues just so that things could be flushed out and alot of these problems corrected.

The problem is so simple. It's what I have been feeling for a while. Despite wanting to mature and evolve the franchise, you lose what makes it. Or rangers can deal with dark themes and subject material, but at it's heart, it's a children's show. Trying to make that into a more mature take falls, because everyone thinks dark means mature. Lost Galaxy, In Space, Time Force, RPM are the darkest and most mature seasons. But they're still childish. In a cheesy lovable way. What I want is deeper lore and more mature themes. Mature doesn't have to mean rape or murder etc, etc. And better character work. My problem with this and the psycho's path is I feel like the writers have the Genesis of the right ideas, but also seem hateful of writing for power rangers and only wiki the stories

RIGHT?! Wild Force was a season that had a character whose main character arc was discovering his parents were killed brutally by a jealous psychopath who casted away his humanity. But it was also a season that had a monster themed after a bride, kidnapping brides and turning them into mannequins by stealing their beauty. ALSO, We had seasons like Lighstpeed rescue, where one character was forced to a MASSIVELY sadistic choice: let his son die, or let him be raised by a demon. AND in that very same season, one of the rangers fell in love with a mermaid. The franchise CAN tackle mature and dark stuff, BUT without losing their cheesy whimsical charm where you know the good guys can win against all odds by pulling deus ex machinas out of nothing, but doing it in such a cool way, saving a the day, you love it. It has to find a balance. That ironically RPM Achieved by having them in an post apocalyptic settling, but still getting into shenanigans and knew how to have fun of themselves. Gem and Gemma were probably raised as tools for their brillaint minds, then probably survived for years in the barren wasteland, yet they were still the lovable goody explosion obsessed dorks. ALSO, A minor thing, but I would prefer if the franchise was "consistent in its own rules". Is like how comics try to be realistic, yet, the show has made very clear "space is breathable". I want them to respect their own rules, even if they aren't realistic. it give sthem their own charm.

I disagree. There's nothing with being too dark and mature. It all depends on the writing. Is your writing like Daredevil series or Daredevil movie? Both R rated and "dark", but one is more superior than the other.
@aarondrake69
@aarondrake69 3 года назад
@@lunavioleta001 I'd say I was really going for a Geoff John's green lantern run vibe. It worked for the serious moments and in no jingle opinion was kinda on the same vein as the boom comics. I didn't think anything about it until I was reading DC comics' He-Man, and he's out there chopping people heads off, and I thought to myself: "I line He-Man, and I want more mature stories, but I feel like that is sacrificing the best of the character and ideas." Granted Power Rangers kill their Vikram's pretty much ubiquitously, but I don't want what I love so much changing into something almost unrecognizable. I feel like the 2017 film did that. It tried to be cheesey with Rita and because of the more serious tone it fell flat. So, no, I don't think you can't be serious, but you also don't want to go so far into it that it loses it's flavor and distinctiveness. I think I'd I were to be like a showrunner for a power rangers season, if be the guy writing the opener, major plot development/ character development eps, and finales and get the staff to write more traditional style episodes to have both.

Now that I think about it, most of this story woulda been better as a revenge story for the Mutants. Why not? They're basically a clean slate to use writing-wise, why not just make a story about them going back into the past along with a Jen and Alex fanboy or girl in this case as revenge? I agree with Aaron Drake. As much as we want to "mature" the series, in this case..it doesn't work. We then lose what makes these characters who they are and then make a 180 to what they're not. In fact, this whole character change woulda worked better for the mutants imo. I woulda loved to see Steelix again considering his hatred for TF and Jen which woulda made for an amazing story. Why not have mutants question their morality and wanting to change things for the better while the Time Force are basically an obstacle and make someone else the villain? That woulda been great. Even Toshiki Inoue who is questionally debated in the toku community, actually knows how to write both funny and dark at the same time. KR Kiva and KR Faiz and Agito for example.

Can we just pretend that in the seasons' canon, Jen stayed in the past with Wes after her mission to capture the Mut-Orgs in Wild Force. That THAT was the reason she took the mission, to be granted permission to stay in the past? It would tie in with Time Force's main themes of "making your own destiny", and goes back to its original plan of Jen staying with Wes in the Time Force finale Maybe evn have Jen make a more benevolent version of Time Force Their time travel shenanigans would still be nothing in comparison to what the Dino Charge team did in their own universe

Time Force is both the best and worst season of Power Rangers. Best in terms of character and villains but worst in how poorly thought out it is. Alex is the center of it. The guy explicitly dies in the first episode but did he survive? Why did he hide himself for no reason? The guy's an asshole later in the season but he still clearly loves Jen as seen in the finale. Are they implying that Ransik's presence changed history so Alex lived? If so, given how the new timeline keeps in contact with the old one instead of splintering, Jen and the other future Rangers should have had thier memories retroactively changed. But they're not given how shell-shocked they are to see him alive? And then there's the finale. Just like, how would 2001 being annihilated not cause a bootstrap paradox? Since travel between the times is still possible and this entire timeline is predicated on Ransik's time travel, they're clearly not separated timelines. And for that matter, since Ransik's event was clearly a fixed point in time that had to happen for Alex to exist, why would it even change history? It was always going to happen so the Silver Guardians would still have been created and the Time Force technology would have been in the past. All they had to do to fix this was say that Alex just barely survived and couldn't stand to face Jen after his failure.

Legit, the biggest positive with this comic is that it's completely non-cannon. It's a prequel to Hyperforce, a Deviantart style AU that's set in its own continuity and framed up with the comics which are another continuity. The only Boom! Studios comic that is actually cannon is Soul of the Dragon. The rest are either standalones or tied into another continuity.

There was nothing wrong with Time Force to even consider a comic continuation. A question if I may ask? What IS maturity? For Some it's being "WOKE" For others it's standing against a society that doesn't care about them [Like Society ever did and since the creation of society it has and always will be an empire sent to destroy humankind] For the Majority it's the illusion-the idea- of being always right. Never wrong. And judging who are the main characters in this story...They are NEVER wrong [And you all know who I am talking about] The thing with the pink ranger [I forgot her name] Was that she learned that she can be wrong too. Women are not always right. Men are not always right. Mature themes should never involved a gender or community being always right and never wrong. Mature themes should not involved self inserts who hate the fact that they are never right and their decisions never work. Mature themes should deal with growing up and putting away childish ideologies [Which is being right all the time and admitting that you CAN make mistakes] Even Mighty Morphin got this right and other shows too that transcended beyond Mighty Morphin. In short... If people are going to create something entertaining? Try to leave out what makes entertainment unbearable. Which is the idea that everyone is always right. Because they're not.

As someone who's on the spectrum, I find the messaging of this story to be extremely uncomfortable. The idea that the mutants are a group of individuals who should be "fixed." Not by giving them a chance to learn empathy as Nadira did, but by removing them of some superficial biological "defect," by making them into "pure" humans. It's a very similar mentality to that held against those with developmental disabilities like Autism, and frankly, I find it extremely disturbing to this kind of mentality being pushed by the person we're supposed to see as the good guy here.
@ZeltraxMillennium
@ZeltraxMillennium 3 года назад
I didn't get that at first, but I can understand that/I'm on the spectrum myself. I get the feeling this fell in line with the whole thing of people in Time Force being born "perfect" as described in the series & Mutants being lower-class citizens ala the mutants of the Marvel Universe, but I digress. I do still like the book/I even gave Eddie Frierson AKA Frax's VA a copy, but I can understand why some fans would not be really cool with this graphic novel. I'm looking forward to a different season novel where it's written a bit better.

Interestingly enough I read both Justice League vs Power Rangers and Sins of the Future and found the Justice League crossover way more compelling. I think it might because Power rangers needs to be more based on the team and group solving problems while Sins of the Future feels like a Jenn spins off. While she is interesting as a character she's not interesting enough to carry the whole show by herself. Also Wes' sister we barely know her which is hard to know why we should care about her at all. She's only introduced much later..

Time force is very libertarian at heart, Time Force the organization (which is the whole of the government) should not be trusted. Wes on one hand is the individualist and Jen the semi-progovernment hardnose battle scared solider that must be convinced to look out side the system by Wes to see if the answer is less by the book and, Jen trying to prove that sometimes you need the rules and regulations to Wes, But they love each other the more for it. And yes this book did not add much to the mythos. I wish Time Fore would get a film written by the original writers.

Here is another issue to consider, I was really not a fan of how this story treated Frax and his past as Doctor Ferricks. By making him be the one responsible for creating Venomark due to unethical experimentation, it basically cheapens the entire tragic aspect of his character, as well as "justifies" Ransik's cruel betrayal of him, weakening the cruel cycle of hatred aspect to the season. It's like making Nora Fries be some woman frozen a hundred years ago, and Mr Freeze just some crazy guy obsessed with her frozen body.

The Fury of this Red Ranger , while it is there , it does not describe a Ranger Show , it tells no story . Or perhaps we can talk about the fury of Gold against the Red . I really, REALLY hate the art in these one shot novels. It's...so dirty and amateurish. It's unpleasing to look at. As for the novels themselves....they're not good. Soul of the Dragon was the closest to being good, but even then it had problems. I do like us getting one shots for different seasons, but nothing so far is anything I'd call good. Anyways, as to your thoughts...like with your thoughts on Reinforcements from the Future, I think you're looking WAY too deep into this that you're seeing things that aren't really there. Some mutations and genetic disorders ARE in fact harmful to people with them, and yes, you SHOULD cure them if possible. I'm not saying everyone should be this perfect, godly human looking being. That is not at all what I'm saying. But Ransik's scars and disease...yeah, I don't see the harm in fixing those. I'm not saying we should change Notacon into a human. I'm saying if you have the ability to fix something that's actively harmful to a person or bad/not good for them, like Ransik's scars or disease, yes, you should fix em. (Plus, as another commenter said, it's not said that Ransik was turned into a human, it's most likely it's just the disease part that was cured.) And last I checked, Steelix betrayed Time Force of his own volition. Nowhere is it implied he did what he did because he was oppressed. The frozen prison really seems to be there because regular prisons can't hold these people and...really, how is that a problem? They have super strength and other abilities, I'm pretty sure handcuffs aren't gonna cut it. (At least, not unless they go in willingly, I guess, like with Ransik at the end of the season.) It kinda seems like you really want to believe in a message Time Force tried but ultimate failed to deliver. Mutants don't really seem to be treated that unfairly in the future from what we've seen, since we have Dash and Steelix there. We see certain characters SAYING they're treated unfairly...but we've never seen it. Most we get is someone running away from Ransik after seeing his scarred form, but that's the only example we've seen. If we saw an expansion of that, but with people not immediately running away, maybe actively trying to hunt him or other mutants down, or scoffing at him or laughing him and other mutants off, then we'd have something. But as it is...yeah, I find it hard to believe. Sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree with you majorly on this. I agree with you overall on the comic, though. It's ass. (I love the setup for Hyperforce, though.) Next time we FINALLY get your review of Soul of the Dragon? Fuck yes. By far the graphic novel I like the most. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on this. Oh, and to be clear, since with text it can be hard to tell without facial expressions or vocal inflections, I'm not trying to call you an idiot for thinking all of this. This is just what I got and my thoughts. You still disagree and think these things, that's ok. You're a good dude and a good reviewer. We may disagree on things, and I have my own issues with some of your critiques, but you're still a good reviewer overall and I love hearing your thoughts.

I hate the In Space Novel wanting to do the "let's redeem the psychos because they suffered like Karone, causing Karone and Andros to be split apart", when the psychos are memorable and entertaining villains because how obsessed they are in doing their objective and how unapologetically monstruous they are in doing so. Those creeps remained as ghost because they hated the rangers THAT MUCH. Psycho Pink is one of the few villains to canonically kill a ranger in the show. And their data cards are good excuse to bring them back for a crossover one day if they have to, and you have easy instant threat I love how Dino Fury basically did the opposite of that comic, by bringing a Lord Zedd made out of pure evil, while his original redeemed self is still out there probably just living quitely (or maybe as a prince of magic given Rita became mystic mother)

Of course this is a two way street cause there are going to be some people that like their mutations or take pride in it. Plus I’ve always interpreted the mutant criminals in Time Force were criminals in-spite of being mutants not because since we’ve seen examples like steelix of mutants having opportunities like normal people. Not saying it’s perfect but that’s more a prison system problem.

The comics are not even remotely close to cannon with the TV series. They are telling their own story. This is like complaining that the new Halloween movie doesn't line up with Rob Zombies Halloween. You can't bring old baggage (in this case the TV series) into something trying to be its own thing.

As a quantum ranger fan this comic was incredibly disappointing. I know the focus was jen and wes but even that story was lackluster

What i really wanted to say about your video is that you cant really expect something entertaining for kids to be good ! If it happens that s great but you shouldnt expect it because it targets something specific ! You cant expect ranger fans to enjoy Italian classic music . If ranger fans like Italian Classic music ok but it doesnt target Ranger Fans , specially not the 90 s fans

this is what happens when you craft a story around politics. the storry false short because character make decisions that make no sense to feed in to the message.

Meh. Time Force is a tediously overhyped series anyway.
