DISCLAIMER: Do not ride like I rode in this video. Not only did I only ride like this to demonstrate the speed of the ebike (I do not ride like this 99% of the time), but I know the traffic patterns on the streets I was riding like the back of my hand, and ever time I passed a car I was taking a very measured risk.
1500w voilamart ebike build, capable of 40mph and with a range of about 50 miles. My favorite ebike yet (took 3 tries to figure out what was right).

Definitely want to see a more in depth view at acceleration and changes you might make if you do another. Loved the video overall. You’re crazy for going in and out of cars like that. I wouldn’t have the ball.

I know the traffic patterns on that road super well. I don't cut past cars when we are going past parking spaces or intersections where they could turn in front of me. it is a very measured risk

I understand that this method only works in some frames. I had a carbon bike with the Aston Rider kit and I switched it to a bamboo bike in 10 minutes and I didn't have to cut any cables. Very good video.

Definitely doing a beach cruiser build after watching this!!! Only need to ride 3 miles to work. 15 mile rang is what I would need. Would you know of what battery I might need if I run your set up? Also a link to the voilamart kit you used. Thank you keep up the awesome videos!

just look up 12.5ah 52v battery on ebay, as well as violamart 1500w ebike kit rear . Those are the only two purchases you need to make. kit comes with everything but battery. 12.5ah should get you about 15 miles. my battery is 30aH and gets about 50 miles

yes but you would need to get a single speed freewheel. Also make sure it has brakes. Generally the single speeds do not have brakes and the coaster brake (back pedal) is removed

What about if you install it in front you can still use Sam brake method right ? Or does that change the ride any way ?

properly set up rim brakes have gobs of power, and I can lock up the wheels with the brakes on this bike. Many high performance road bikes still use rim brakes. Disc brakes are advantageous for mountain bikes where dirt and mud is a problem.

@@sagesends yea your right idk how disc brakes became a requirement for ebikes you see them all the time on them. I didn’t know it was for mountain bikes you have a point there. That has removed my build anxiety thanks!

trials guys often use rim brakes, and they need braking power more than anyone. Good disc brakes have 200mm rotors. Think of a rim brake as a 600mm rotor. Much more mechanical advantage over the wheel. Only issue is contamination, as the rim is close to the ground and will get submerged in muddy conditions. for road use this usually isn't an issue

$700 todal. this exact build is hard for a beginner do to the custom fabrication for the battery box. however it is possible have a setup that is just a powerful and 65% of the range that is easy for a beginner

$70 for the cruiser on craigslist, $550 for the battery, and $300 for the motor kit, iirc

I always wear a helmet, look up 1500w ebike kit on ebike that's what I got, any 48v or 52v battery will work

I did this a while back, the issue was that the brake wore out every week and then I crashed into a bus due to the brake situation.

Hey man, great video! I'd like to do pretty much the exact same thing. I've found the kit you used but im having troubles finding a battery with the same specs of the one you used. Is there any way you could post a link? Or point a guy in the right direction? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also it's been a few months now...how is it all holding up? Looks sick can't wait to do my build.

held up great for as long as I had it, about 1000 miles. Sold it to some homie cause I have the sur-ron now. Here is the battery: ebay.to/2Qg2IFM Unit Pack Power is widely considered the gold standard for China batteries. They make good shit. Had one with over 600 charge cycles on it, still ran great

I’m debating on a rear hub vs mid drive. It’s only a single speed so I was leaning towards a rear hub, but that would leave me with only a front drum brake (v brakes would look ugly on a 40s Hiawatha)

you definitely need brakes on both wheels with these bikes. Having only one brake is extremely unsafe not only for stopping power but if it fails at 40mph and you have no backup brake it could be deadly. The hub motor is cleaner, quieter, and more efficient than center drive though

Any Violamart kit on ebay will work. This was a 1500w rear wheel kit. They should be around $250-$350. You buy the battery separately. For this kit it's a 48v or 52v battery.

ehh. 38mph isn't crazy on a bike. Put probably 2000 miles on this thing while I had it with no close calls. The brakes were good and never failed to slow my down quick.
