@@karrieferman4816 I don’t know. I rent the house. My tenants evacuated. I am in NC. One phone call I got said it was bad. Lots of flooding and damage. Praying for your family
My father decided to ride out Charlie in Port Charlotte in 2004 and was lucky to live through it, as his house was ripped apart. Praying for all of the elderly that were trapped in their mobile and modular homes... 🙏🙏🙏
My mother grew up in southern Louisiana back in the 40s and 50s and she said that when a hurricane was approaching, the Army would give dog tags to people who refuse to evacuate the area so that it would be easy to identify their bodies.
I do remember, Wade Guice, on the Mississippi Gulfcoast, in 1969, having people give them their names and next of kin before Hurricane Camille hit. If they were refusing to leave.
Yes, it is also a psychological attempt to make people realize they are ignoring something pretty severe that works very well. Something about putting body tags on your children or loved ones tends to have a sobering effect.
wow! I'm going to use this information in a homeschool lesson. Thanks! My child is in Tampa... It was horrifying for me to suggest she write her name, dob, and my number with a sharpie on her arm...
I completely agree. Why do people try to wait it out, then the rescuers have to risk their lives to save them when they should have left before this happened! I understand not wanting to loose everything, but material things can be replaced, your lives can't.
Heavenly Father please wrap your arms around the people of Florida give them peace where it is needed. There’s really no words for this you all are in my prayers
Pastor Rodney Browne so glad you're church gathered together and prayed for days and where u are you have no damage. Love you all from Durban SA🇿🇦 God honors prayer. Takes care of HIS children. AMEN.
yes praying for Florida, I knew how it feel, Hurricane Laura hit my town in Louisiana 2 years ago. it was a big mess. take over a year to get it clear out.
If you don’t have money or family to stay with, you can’t evacuate. Even if you did, when you’re broke, usually your car isn’t in perfect running condition. Poverty has layers, too many to understand for “normal” people.
I wish people shaming the ones that stayed realize that NOT EVERYONE CAN EVACUATE!! Not everyone has a car, or family in another area they can stay with! Some people had the resources to evacuate, and others didn't. It's life. They don't deserve to be shamed.
There's free shelters and free transportation to those shelters in safe areas every time this happens. There's no excuse to stay in a worst case scenario zone. But many people choose to stay even if they could leave.
Yes they could. These people definitely have the recourses just CHOSE not to evacuate because of their arrogance. No one that is poor live in Marco Island, Sanibal, Fort Myers or Naples. Have you seen the neighborhoods flooded? Now these same people are asking for coast guard and first responders to hurry up and serve them like good slaves.

I live in Long Beach, Mississippi, a quarter of a mile from the beach. We, pulled away from home the evening before Katrina savaged the area we call home. We consisted of myself, my wife, our 6-year-old daughter, and the 7 dogs we had rescued over the years. We spent the next 8 days near Natchez Mississippi in an RV park on the bank of the Mississippi river. That was just the beginning of a different volume (VII) of my life story.
I rode out Katrina about 25 miles inland from the MS Coast, and it was still hellish. No power at my home for 3 months. Everybody thinks that Katrina was a NOLA thing but here in MS we know it wasn't.
I am from NOLA, we left the evening before as well... we went to Houston. We know it was a Mississippi thing. Katrina made landfall in Mississippi. The water removed a whole casino... THAT'S POWER. I live in Tampa now. I tell everyone about that feeling, going back after Katrina hit, was nothing I can describe. The smell, the complete darkness, and living off MREs. After that storm, I no longer thought hurricane parties were laughable... I think it is a sad way to die. I just wish everyone took mother nature seriously.
I know the good people of Florida will bounce right back . I pray for those affected and may God be with you. The people of Florida are beautiful and you have great leadership . From Vancouver BC .
In Belize British Honduras we walk to the Light House and watch what color flag is flying and listen to the radio. We were also busy getting survival items together. Packing food in plastics bags and tying them down with heavy rocks and leaving them on the floor. After the storm we look for them in the mud. My elders were very wise.
Many comments here concern disbelief that people would not evacuate. First there are people who are old and perhaps disabled. Then there is the problem of everyone trying to flee at once. (if you think rush hour traffic is a nightmare, that's nothing) . Then there's the question; where do you go? This hurricane was huge and they didn't know where it was going to hit almost up until it did. If you have pets, most shelters won't let you bring them. Hotels are slammed full as far as you can imagine. So don't judge people, there are many things to consider. I've rode out many a hurricane and was later glad I did...
@@Austin.D Not sure where you could live that doesn't, at some point, have any natural disasters. Whether it's wind, fire, rain, drought, extreme heat or cold, I don't think anyone is immune. You just have to weight the pros and cons of anywhere you live...
"hurricane was huge and they didn't know where it was going to hit almost up until it did." just like the last 50 hurricanes. When you are so stupid you choose Florida, you get what you got coming. I'll be so happy when the melting ice caps finally take Florida to the bottom.
And I just want to take the time to have a simple prayer for all of the first responders that are scared for their own lives and praying for their own families while saving other people selflessness is the only priceless thing I can think of right now in the world full of materialistic things
Don’t believe on that, I was talking to my cousin who lives in Florida, and she said she’s waiting for the hurricane, but didn’t show up. This is not Florida, that might be long time ago hurricane but not right now, they’re lying to their teeth to scare everyone.
@@Danny451 you have to be a genuinely huge POS to troll the internet insulting peoples well wishes. Regardless of your beliefs, complaining about thoughts and prayers does even less than what you’re complaining about
@@Danny451 so just like everyone, you are doing nothing. Floridians sure need more people like you and those thought senders. Bunch of do-gooders that NEVER do anyone any good.
So sad 😔😔😔 I'm praying for everyone there!!!! 🙏🙏🙏 I'm near Orlando, thankfully I didn't get the bad part of Ian...but my heart goes out to everyone on the west coast of Florida!!!!!! 💔💔💔💔
I feel sorry for the people of Florida and all of the devastation Ian has caused but I wish people would evacuate when told to do so. It's ridiculous how they completely ignore the warnings and then need to be saved once the storm hits. They're risking not only their lives but the lives of those who have to come and rescue them.
@Monte Jr, One of the very best comments on here. Totally agree. I've been scrolling down reading each comment, got to yours, and BAM! That's what I'm talking about. The area is going to need manpower like the Governor said. Your comment is restorative. Everyone helping each other, God shall take care of the rest.
this is saddening thinking of all the lives, homes and businesses lost all the jobs lost ppl are going to be in a fkd up situation 😭 I hope there will be some help for them

Prayers for Florida🙏 That said, this was a hurricane. They are a natural occurrence of life. They have been occurring since time began. Keep it in perspective. “While he was still speaking, another messenger arrived with this news: “Your sons and daughters were feasting in their oldest brother’s home. Suddenly, a powerful wind swept in from the wilderness and hit the house on all sides. The house collapsed, and all your children are dead. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.” Job stood up and tore his robe in grief. Then he shaved his head and fell to the ground to worship. He said, “I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord!” In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God.” Job 1:18-22 NLT
Im from West Central Florida and we were spared from disaster. For a moment we were in a direct hit but it went more eastern. St.Petersburg is a peninsula surrounded by water.
I am so sorry that so many people have suffered so much loss of their property. I pray that there isn’t as much loss of life. This was such a special area, we had visited Sanibel and Captiva and collected seashells there.
I realize this is a tragic occurrence that includes loss of life... But the damn insurance companies will use this as a reason to skyrocket rates for the entire state...
There were no Hurricanes for the first time in August . I knew that meant the silence before the storm. I think people were not prepared or took it seriously being so late in September. I don’t think this is the last Hurricane either. The waters are too warm and the Earth is off balance. Gods mercy be with us and prayers to all in need and those lives lost.
Good content nephew, just checking in, we got my baby boy home from Orlando, now it's headed to where my 2nd oldest is now...KEEP ON PUSHING!! 🖤🖤🖤ALWAY'S
It's ok. They can just bob around on rafts made of all those dangling chads that screwed up elections. I do not feel sorry for Florida in the least. Although, I don't actually wish death on anyone there. Drop your guns, they're heavy, and learn to doggy paddle. 🌊💙🐕💙🌊
Kind of strange people would just leave their boats in the path of a hurricane knowing days ahead of time they're likely to be heavily damaged. Could have taken them several hours up or down the coastline and been fine.
@@Grace-up5em I’m aware . I live in SC on the coast and have seen plenty . My point was how cruel joy was for laughing about Florida getting hit so bad because she hates DeSantis. This hurricane is not your normal hurricane. Florida faces then all the time as does SC . But this one is different. She’s trash .
Being from South Dakota my favorite place to visit is Captiva Fl. I Pray for those who did not evacuate. Do you have coverage of that area. Thank you and God Bless.
I have a hard time drumming up any sympathy for those that ended up calling 911 fearing for their lives. Ian didn't just sneak up on FL! So many warnings of how high the surge was likely to be, and how strong the winds were.
The amount of times I’ve had to say this is getting absolutely ridiculous. Some people were elderly and disabled and weren’t able to leave for high ground. Such an incredibly ignorant comment my god. Not everybody has an able body to move around and evacuate but according to you they deserved to die.
To all those in Florida I'm so sorry and I hope we can all help in the relief of the disaster from this hurricane and pray not many lives get lost more from it heading to n.c
Even when you've been in them before, it is impossible to imagine the damage without the help of videos and such. And we need to know, bcz when people don't get some kind of grasp, they won't likely try to help, and they won't think much about preparation if they learn something of the sort is heading their own way. Very Grateful to know - so that many will be praying, many will be trying to help, contribute some way... These folks and Everything there all need so much help, now. God be with them and bring them the help they need! Dear Lord, help them to learn to build back WISER and Better, with Clever inventions and Witty solutions and better locations, etc... All my prayers for them.
Crazy how many people refused to leave and now they wanna be rescued due to their negligence. They should be fined for putting first responders at risk. They don’t put this stuff on the news for entertainment. They want you to get evacuate for your own safety and so they don’t have to risk first responders lives for your stupidity.

Everybody knew the storm was coming my son and I were talking about it 8 days ago nobody knew how intense it was going to be however living in that area you always have the option of keeping an eye on it and evacuating nothing to it board up your home do what you have to do go to a hotel until everything blows over then come back and pick up the pieces or rebuild in my opinion I don't know why anybody lives there in the first place that's just me

People live in California with wildfires and earthquake risks. People live in the Midwest with tornado risks. No reason to single out Florida as a "dangerous place".
Our government gave $17 billion dollars to Ukraine. Hope they have funds available for all of Florida. As for the electric vehicles, they proved to be useless during the evacuation strategies.
Agreed. Russia is not a conventional threat to the United States, nor does the United States have a strategic interest in Ukraine. Our leaders have warned European countries, especially Germany, not to be dependent on Russian gas and other resources but they continued their polices and look where they are at now. We have over 100K homeless in Orange country California (drug and mental health crisis), and many of the bridges and other infrastructure needs to be rebuilt.
