@@stealthyc have you listened to the new album? It's yet another stylistic shift, into attempted noisy pop goth. They're like the band The Cult. They keep changing styles, and losing and confusing their fanbase.
Im somewhere in this video. It was filmed at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC and I happened to win tickets through a local radio station. Fucking amazing concert. Aside from PM5K Static X played and I believe that Chevelle was the opening band.
Wow.... coincidentally I ate at h.o.b. in orlando ( disney) had no idea who jack black or tenacious d was at the time they were playing tho . I remember NOT being impressed. Lol
Man, I remember getting this cd for Christmas when I was 13 & I instantly fell in love with it. I even wore ski goggles on my head, trying to be like Spider 😂 🤦♂️. Cringe now, but cool then. I’m 35 now and still come back to this album! One of a kind.
No way, I had no idea!!! What epically talented people!!! I liked both music talents in middle school/high school, now it's got me on a RU-vid hole of music!!!!! Fun way to clean on a Sunday! Just purchased a ticket to see them in CA!
I can still remember seeing powerman 18 years ago. They headlined with static x, dope, and chevelle. Will never forget that night. Chevelle was barely known then. They were just the show openers
I saw them around that time too, also with Dope and Static-X. But instead of Chevelle, they had a band called Halfcocked with them. I liked Halfcocked, I wish they had lasted longer. Probably didn't help that their album came out on 9/11.
we were listening to powerman 5000 when I was in middle school and ill be 30 next month, you are mistaken, worlds collide was released when I was in 8th grade, 1999 =P do yo homework son, and besides they have been out since when 1994?
ok lets break this down. you will be 30 correct what year did you graduate highschool from?2004? your math 30 years ago from today would be what 1984 yes so fast foward to 8th grade so you where 15 in 8th grad 1999. That means you either got held back or your math is off I was about 13 and a freshman in highschool born nov 5th 1985... wait that math just doesn't add up... your about one year older then me but I was a year ahead of you in grade? hmmm
I think a lot of ppl took PM5K as a novelty, with their space sci-fi style and clothes, but Spider's voice is no joke. It has that great mix of power and rasp/gain when he pushes that's perfect for this style of rock. I got to see them on the Summer Sanitarium Tour way back in the day, they put on a good show.
This is the type of song where I wanna drive really fast while listening to it. I'll never forget when this album was about to be released it was played in-between sets at Ozzfest on the big screens repeatedly. I really miss that time period for music and me being much younger and not having a care in the world but how much fun I was going to have lol. Good ole days
I was going to their concert in Boston in 1999 but I heard it on the radio, on my way there, that it was sold out. But I went anyway, kept hanging around outside the venue (Avalon I believe) cracking jokes about whatever, about how I was someone´s bodyguard (someone who was in the guest list), the woman responsible for letting people in was laughing and stuff but didn´t let me in... at first... then all of a sudden she came back and said to security: "you know what? you can let this guy in, put him on my list". It was one of these events where having faith when all seemed lost actually paid out.
Led Zepper Blade Runner came out almost two decades before this band even formed, my dude... Cyberpunk has been a thing since before either of us were probably even born.
I discovered these guys when they were touring Europe with Pantera, back in 2000. They totally blew Anselmo & co off the stage, party because they really sucked that night (thanks, Phil), bought the PM5K album with this song on it the very next day. Great stuff!
I remember rocking out to these guys and blasting faces in Unreal Tournament back in the day. HEADSHOT! lmao 1999 was angsty, angry and the rage felt goooood! 😂
We need a Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson and Powerman 5000 tour, call the the Three from Hell Tour (named after the Rob Zombie film). That would be badass.
Shit. That would be amazing. I'm not that crazy about MM but to see Rob and Spider touring together I'd be blown away. I actually saw all these guys in 2018. Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson together and PM5K another time!
I still believe to this day that when Patrick found that "Stingray 5000" single CD in the trash when SpongeBob and him were trying to find his name tag, they were referencing Powerman 5000. Don't judge me or my dream!
+Talyn McFarlane I found my first Powerman 5000 on the side of the road face down near a dumpster. I saw that episode and just assumed Patrick was Based off of me.
Spinning complacently in the darkness covered and blinded by a blanket of little lives, false security has lulled the madness of this world into a slumber, wake up!! an eye is upon you, staring straight down and keenly through, seeing all that you are and everything that you will never be. yes, an eye is upon you, an eye ready to blink. so face forward, with arms wide open and mind reeling. Your future has arrived ... are you ready to go?
Wow.... this is another fabulous band I have descoverd .... this guy's voice is just a amazing addition to a freaking awesome BAND....they honestly just kicked it right into my head and I will definitely be following up with these guys...
90s metal in general is very underrated. Caught in between grunge, hip-hop, and coming right after all the 80s hair bands you had bands like Tool, Rob Zombie, Korn, Rage, Pantera, System of a Down and PM5000. Id also qualify Soundgarden's "Badmotorfinger" as metal.
Prong, Testament... Trouble... Nothingface, Mudvayne, American Head Charge, Puya... Machine Head if you wanna name some like actual badass stuff. Pantera you should've listed first... also include like Faith No More. I've like done tons of research on this music that I literally grew up on as a kid with... Sevendust. To me that's the much, much cooler stuff. The truly addictive bands that can take you someplace special... agree about 90's (into the early 2000's) metal being underrated but don't care for the bands you indicated other than the almighty Pantera. Even Dope are an upgrade from this... Static-X was respectable. Fear Factory like I could go on all day!
I thought Skrape were better than most... Stone Sour... Zakk Wylde came out with Black Label Society. Just trying to give credit where it's truly due... Korn I have mixed feelings on. Some of their songs were good... early albums have so much filler it's absurd
I bought this when it was brand new when I was in 8th grade, I liked every single track, but listening to other albums they never recapture the magic that this album has
PM5K was one of the first rock bands i have ever heard. I heard them when i was 11(first album i heard was Tonight the Stars revolt in 99) I actually remember seeing the video for this song on MTV when it first was released. between them slipknot disturbed and WHITE Zombie my rock future was forever changed! And i will never forget them for that!
I feel bad for anyone born after the 90’s. What a fucking time to be alive. People somewhat had a back bone and the music was terrific. Had the perfect touch of technology, it was enough for us at the time, everybody enjoyed the moment without their faces being buried in social media.
One of the few I remember. The songs on the GT games usually suck ass. I remember the first time I EVER heard them I was playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater with my best friend and When World's Collide was on there, Good ol' days.
Hace 10 años escuche está canción y no sabía bien cómo se llamaba, la busqué como loco y nada, ahora que navego por aquí logre encontrarla que felicidad😊😍😋😎
These guys tore it up in Cleveland at The Agora...in 2000!!! LOL...I know I know...but hey...that show was legendary!!! Powerman 5000 and Dope with their police car hanging down from the ceiling...outstanding
Lyrics: Are you the future Or are you the past, the past Have you been chosen Or are you the last The message was sent They seem so unreal 'Cause now I'm made of plastic Wire and steel, and steel Follow for now and follow for this 'Cause everybody follows for nothing at all Follow for now and follow for this 'Cause everybody follows for nothing at all Supernova, ya supernova Supernova goes pop Supernova, ya think it's over But supernova don't stop Can you explain just what you are I've never been this close to a star, all right The message was sent, you know what to do 'Cause everybody needs to be someone, don't you All right, don't you! Follow for now and follow for this 'Cause everybody follows for nothing at all Follow for now and follow for this 'Cause everybody follows for nothing at all Supernova, ya supernova Supernova goes pop Supernova, ya think it's over But the supernova don't stop Supernova, ya supernova Supernova goes pop Supernova, ya think it's over But the supernova don't stop Let's go! Supernova, that supernova That supernova goes pop Supernova, you think it's over But that supernova goes pop Supernova, supernova That supernova goes pop, all right Supernova, supernova That supernova don't it, don't it, don't Stop!
Good times playing Gran Turismo 3 jamming to this, Goldfinger's 99 Red Balloons, Kravitz' Are you gonna go my way, The Cult, Crue, Priest, Hendrix... good good times man
Right?? Even with the different styles between him and Rob you can hear the similarities in voices. Same with Johnathan Davis from Korn and his brother. Not identical but definitely similar.
Stop listening to the radio. Stop listening to the radio. Stop listening to the radio. If you don't like what you hear on the radio, that doesn't mean music has hit a wall. It means you have hit a wall and can't be bothered looking for good music. You can do it. I believe in you. :)
People saying they feel old, when they heard this in middle school or high school....please people!!!! Feel old my ass!! I saw Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park when it was released on television and saw Star Wars in theaters in 1977! Feel old my ass!!!
