That was an entertaining video. Have you ever heard anything from Orden Ogan? They are a great german powermetal band and released a new album earlier this year. My favourite from that is Heart of the Android. I discovered them about at the same time as Powerwolf and listen to both of them since.

I'm suprised noone said that in the comments (or I missed it), but many fans consider Powerwolf and Sabaton to be spiritual brothers from different mothers. Sabaton ended up as history teacher and Powerwolf went to church, but both went to town with their songs

A theory suggests the beast was a hyena that the latter of the two hunters actually trained to do those attacks. Hyenas can be trained similarly to dogs and apparently some surviving victims heard laughter out of the woods before beeing attacked (also a reason why some believed it to be a werewolf). The Hunter himself later killed it because he was suspected of having something to do with the attacks, thats also why he was able to kill it from relatively close range with a relatively inaccurate rifle because it trusted him. There is a full documentary about this theory.

If I'm not mistaken this is the story depicted in the film "Brotherhood of the Wolf" starring Mark Dacascos (The Crow TV series). The creature ended up being like a mutated Dire Wolf if I recall.

As a Belgian I must agree, Tank pronounced it really well, but i think Attila (the singer) pronounced it like that to make it rhyme to "father and the son". Edit: yes, i do know some French

It's also possible the singer is pronouncing it on the phonetics, but given that Karsten/Attila is from the Saar it's quite likely the pronounciation of Gevaudan is intended to rhyme in English with Father and Son like Zed said, rather then just not being able to pronounce the french.

It's nice to see Powerwolf back on your channel! Thanks for the video! Your pronunciation of Gévaudan was great! I think Attila didn't try too hard because otherwise the rhyme with "gun" would have been lost. It reminds me of Joakim of Sabaton making "Verdun" rhyme with "begun" in the song Fields of Verdun. It wouldn't have been the case at all if he pronounced it like in French.

Powerwolf are an amazing live band. Even if your standing in the back of the crowd you still feel their enormous stage presence. I saw them twice so far, the first time at SummerBreeze 2017 and the in November 2019 in Munich, that was also the first show I took my, then 10y/o, daughter to. I highly recommend the trip to Europe. They usually tour during the latter months of the year. I plan on seeing them this October with my daughter and my wife, this would be her first metal show, in either Stuttgart on my daughters birthday or in Munich two weeks later. Let's hope that they can make this tour.

Great, fun, well-researched reaction, Tank! :D I quite like that the verses are more mellow and calm, it makes the change into the chorus much more huge. The choruses have been on my brain since watching the video premiere :D Attila Dorn said that they don't really tour outside of Europe because they've got standards for their shows and they'd have to downgrade considerably in the US to afford it and I've heard that Matthew Greywolf suffers from quite severe fear of flying too, so going that far wouldn't be possible for him.

They came to Brazil early 2020 (before the whole pandemic stuff) were they opened for Amon Amarth. I’ve never heard of them before the show and man, what a performance live. They sounded amazing, and their visuals were so fucking good. Now I listen to them everyday haha. Great job on the video btw!!

You finally got round to this. Nice work bro. The chorus is absolutely huge like you said and the verses are just a bit different like you said but trust me after a few more plays it all makes sense. The symphonic part is also quite a new thing for Powerwolf as it sounded like a real orchestra rather than just Falk's organ sound. I've seen Powerwolf 4 times btw living in the UK. People over the pond have begged and begged them to go over to you guys but the band is playing 2k-3k venues in Europe now and are really huge and only getting bigger. I have a ticket for a gig in October and it wll be amazing no doubt. I'm sure they'll change their mind one day about America if you guys can fill minimum 2k venues.

I also recommend the French version also made by Powerwolf attention the bete du gevaudan is not a legend but a mystery. The beast (whether it is a single animal, an animal and its master or only a man) really existed. and we are talking about a hundred dead not 500. 500 or is in the teen wolf series

I had the pleasure to see them in Cologne, Germany live, short before the pandemic. They're one of the greatest live bands I had the chance to whitness. Attila Dorn is a great "conferencier and knows how to catch an audience. Songwise I have to say that this track felt a bit "bulky" at first, but it really grew on me.

I really enjoy this song and I think the band was inspired by a very good theme. The music video fits well with the old terrifying story. Note that for almost 2 centuries after the real events, French parents had a tradition of telling their children that the beast of Gevaudan would come and devour them at night if they behaved badly ..... I think it must have been quite effective ... ^^

Well, first of all: Thanks youtube for making me aware of this video a month late ... Powerwolf is one of those bands I really love because all their songs get stuck in my head and I can already hum along after the first chorus when listening to it for the first time. Same with Hammerfall, Edguy and a few others. It's music I love to listen to when the day at work was rough and I need something that just makes me happy.

If you want to see Powerwolf live in Europe, check wenn they do an all Powermetal tour, meaning: they are doing a headline tour with other powermetal bands only, how I learned them back in 2011, wenn they're touring with Grave Digger, Sabaton and Skull Fist.

So as i am from Germany the first thing that came in mind was Markus Heitz. He is an Author from Homburg/Saarland and the Band is from Saarbrücken also Saarland. So they are geographical close together. Markus Heitz wrote a 2 Novel Series (Ritus and Sanctum) inspired by The Beast of the Gevaudan Legend with alternating Timelines with the Family Chastel (Father and two Sons) in the 1760s and a modern Line with a related on the Hunt for the (Wer)Wolf of the Gevaudan. And because it is a Markus Heitz Novel, its Adult literature with sex, crime and blood. Heitz also is sometimes referred the German Stephen King. He studied History and also wrote the book "Vampire!Vampire" where he takes appart the Vampire Legend with historical facts. The Second thing that came in mind was the movie "Brotherhood of the Wolf".

One band that comes to mind when thinking about Sabaton and Powerwolf is Battle Beast. Totally worth checking out. Sabaton even covered their song Out of Control and Battle Beast covered Resurrection by Errection from Powerwolf (double reaction ? ;) )

There's a documentary on the beast. Best speculation is someone imported a striped hyena and trained it to kill and the common people never seeing a hyena before thought it was a werewolf.

Great reaction as usual. Now, I remember you said that you probably wouldn't do anymore Eluveitie reactions, because you would listen to them on your own time. But if you haven't come around to this song yet, might I suggest "The Nameless" (There's a live video from Masters of Rock). It's a song of theirs that I feel like is flying under the radar a little. What I became aware of: it's either love or hate (they where my first live concert, so I'm prob. on the love side :D) and I can understand both sides! But if I talk about Power Metal or fill up my PM Playlist, I always have to decide between the True/Power Metal side like Helloween or Wisdom, the more symphonic side like Blind Guardian...and Powerwolf xD There is nothing in my Playlist, that sounds like them and for this alone they deserve respect :D
