Learn my basic system, for mixing any color, using a few inexpensive acrylic paints available at your closest craft store. Don't buy every shade of paint made when you can create your own shades using this simple method. This video shows the proper way to mix colors to match your favorite projects using simple steps.

This is great! I've just started acrylic painting online and the paints can get expensive especially metallics. I saw your metallic mixing video first. Now I'm going to watch all of them on paint mixing techniques.

What's interesting about this is the cream like consistency of these acrylics, as opposed to the typical Tamiya acrylics for models. Anything about that that I should consider?

Great video, such great info. I've just started making my own lures and I'm nervous about painting them because they've turned out really well and I don't want to ruin them. Thanks for the video

Bought some Tamiya x-20 acrylic thinner, does that have similar properties to your home made thinner, or is that closer to white spirit.

Great video Chris! SUBSCRIBED! What are you using for thinner with these cheaper acrylic paints? Could you please provide a link to buy? Also, would you ever use distilled water to thin these types of paints? Ratio? Many thanks!

Hi Steve, I have a video on my channel on mixing thinner. Links to buy the paint are in the "Show More" tab just below the video description. Thanks for Subscribing!

Hi chris,Im using a general purpose water base craft acrylic the bottle says its for poster board, textiles etc. The red im using is the correct shade but when i add water or any type thinner the red changes tint..its no longer the same..im using the paints thru my airbrush on paper,t-shirts anything i can spray on. Thank god i use the thinner recipe you showed,it improved flow thru the airbrush.

Thanks for watching. Glad I could help with the thinner. The red issue has me stumped. Be sure to shake the bottle well before dispensing any to be thinned. The pigments may have settled in the bottle. Outside of that, I really don't know.

@@chrismihulka-nwfishingstuf3852 i figured out the issue about the tint changing after i added any sort of thinner...I mixed the thinner into the red and when it changed color i said to myself...well thats not going to work and never sprayed anything with it..until last week I accidently used the red i had mixed on a tshirt..it came out the horrible red..But i had already begun spraying the shirt So i finished it then hung it up to dry,A few days ago i needed a shirt that i didnt care about getting dirty...when i looked at it ..the red was exactly the tint it was before i added thinner...maybe drying it then ironing it and letting it sit for awhile did something to it? Ive had that happen with automotive enamel and acrylics..never played with water base acrylics before

@@chingchinggreene1651 Thanks for getting back to me on the color shift. Some colors do look lighter or darker when thinned, but I don't do shirts, so I was at a loss. Glad to know drying the paint will allow it to show the original tint. I will remember this and can hopefully help others if the question arises.
