Practical Problems with the Cayenne GTS | 2 Months In!

Hey everyone, thanks for tuning back in! 2 months with the GTS and I'm loving the car. It's been solid so far, but a lot of people have been asking for updates because they're thinking about buying one - do it!
I've driven a lot of premium/sports SUVs and very few cars come close. For a 5 seat SUV, this is one of the best.
TLDR for my least favorite things with the GTS:
1. Transfer Case issues
2. Drinks keep spilling
3. No volume indicator
4. Seats are not the most comfortable
5. Sports wheel - minimal functionality, prone to wear and tear
6. Gas mileage is hard to bump up
7. Seats don't fold flat
2 months in, these are my thoughts! I don't see any other complaints popping up unless something breaks! I'll definitely add to this if something happens!

Great video and car! I have a GTS also. The cup holders never really bothered me though. You are spot on with the Bluetooth though.

Definitely check with Porsche on the transfer case. They extended the factory warranty on the transfer case for most 958.1 and 958.2 Cayennes. Check eligibility for yours, and get it inspected and serviced if covered. For the cup holders, which are awful, buy the factory cup holder expanders. I bought two from my dealer, and they make all the difference in the world.

Nice breakdown on the GTS and appreciate all the comments on the transfer case warranty. I have the same year, make and model w/o the alcantara seats (needed the ventilated option in FL). Owned it for three years now w/55K miles and only had one issue with AC condensation spilling into the passenger footwell from under the glovebox. I took it to Porsche and they removed the rubber flap in the engine bay that prevents water from being completely discharged outside of the cabin. It may be hard to detect if you have carpeted mats so keep an eye out for dampness. Cupholders are definitely not the greatest.

to fix one of the issues you described you should look into the pedal commander. that allows you to change the sensitivity of your throttle only. i have one installed on my macan s and love it. it even makes the car "feel faster" even though its not and just making the pedal more sensitive. oh i also had my transfer case repaired under warranty by the dealership so macans also have that issue.

I have a 2013 as well which I got in 2018. I can live with all its quirks except the cup holders and the lack of storage spaces. Since there’s no sunglass holder in this car or any cubby holes in the center console except for the storage compartment in the arm rest, I end up putting my sunglasses, keys, garage fob, etc all in the passenger cup holder which posses off my wife whenever she rides with me. The cup holders and the arm rest are too far back to be used practically while driving. I find it very hard to pick up a drink from the cup holder without twisting my body towards it. Also agree with you about the Bluetooth and the volume. Why can’t this car default to Bluetooth on its own!! But that V8 and all them horses.. it’s worth it

I have a 2014 V8 GTS Cayenne and they must have sorted the sport mode on that model. I can turn on sport mode and can then switch off the sports exhaust and change the suspension settings individually - both the ride height and the suspension firmness can be adjusted with the sport mode on, it also states this in the manual. I also use sport mode, but with the manual paddles when I get into some spirited driving, or if I don't want the issue of the car hanging high in the gears. My Transfer case has just been changed at 34k miles.

Don't complain about the mileage in Sports mode... it's a 4.8V8 and it's the reason why I owned a 2014 GTS4.8V8. It's very fast in sport and doing the paddle shifting. I was able to keep up with a 997.2 gts at over 100mph. In regards to the transfer case issue, i have it replaced at the dealer for about $4800 but recently Last Month there is a refund for any transfer case issues- it should be under warranty for 10 years with unlimited miles. So, I'm waiting for my refund.

So they've extended the warranty for the transfer case? I bought 2015 Cayenne S last November when it was just out of warranty, 53,000 MI and on acceleration from a stop had a slight bumpy feeling like you're driving on a gravel road, changed the transfer case fluid to Ravenol and it was like night and day better. (Imo) I do believe there is too much technology out there for gas mileage to be so poor on basic street legal vehicles. Before you fashion a car to drive itself..maybe it should be more fuel efficient. To me it should be illegal...I know that's a stretch, but where else have we been programmed to take such a loss on something so basic?? It has a principle about it too...just like a pretty chick..yeah you look good and you can cook too..but dont screw me at the pump! And on a super corny side, it's almost not even safe...can you literally make it from point A to B without pulling over like grandma that has to tinkle every 10 miles?

@@airmadness98 Looking at a 2014 V8 GTS to buy right now for my fiance as we are family planning for a +1. The spec I’m looking at is 70k miles, 1 owner, transfer case service already performed + new chain and clutch pack. I have been on the fence between this and a 957 GTS (like the overland capabilities), but am now leaning towards this one because it’s a bit more modernized. Don’t think you could beat a NA V8. Great review.

Why not service the transfer case - apparently it’s the moisture that gets in through the vent valve / change the fluid and it should last - assuming that there is no existing moisture in the oil - easy job to DIY - great video!!
@airmadness98
@airmadness98 3 года назад
bruno condello Thanks! Yes the transfer case fluid can be flushed which would increase the life but people say this may or may not actually work. Porsche has actually released an updated transfer case. Most people let it fail and then get the replacement so they don’t have to keep worrying about it. I feel like mine has some hints of having the problem, but not too sure. A week after I posted this though Porsche actually gave all 2011-2014 Cayennes a 10 year warranty on the TCs! So now it’s covered until 2023 - I’ll be including that in the next update video!

rice life pretty good 6 months in. Transfer case warranty has been extended by Porsche to 10 years for model year 2011 to 2014. So you should be good for that.
