Riding along with a medical transport ambulance in Prague. With me switching the sirens :) The driver used the horn.
At this point I want to say an extremely big and huge THANKS again! :)
At 1:15 I switched several times to get the attention of a SUV driver who was not coming to a complete stop.
I'm still very very interested in ride along possibilities no matter where! :) Write me a comment under the video, message me or (probably the best) email me at RTobiYT@gmail.com

I have to admit that I am proud of the ambulance driver for driving it all the way to VFN in Karlák. At the same time, I have to praise the Prague drivers, because the ambulance drove everywhere almost without problems. Musím přiznat, že na toho řidiče sanitky jsem hrdý, za to, jak to projel až do VFN na Karláku. Zároveň musím pochválit i pražské řidiče, protože ta sanitka projížděla všude téměř bez problémů.

@Rummeltobi
@Rummeltobi 8 лет назад
Mágo Žrout I do. I don't really like the driving style in the Czech Republic but that's just my mind. Drivers in Prague sometimes act like idiots. Honking for no reason, blocking intersections, useless speeding, ... Just some points which I noticed in the past 2 days in Prague.
@Arianeria
@Arianeria 7 лет назад
The rest of the Czech Republic call Prague drivers pigs, because they behave like ones. In the other parts of the country its different. We know if driver is from Prague without looking at the license plate just by looking at the driving style, Prague drivers are particulaly dumb in driving just by using traffic signs, they drive using only traffic lights but in the rest of the country those are only on big intersections otherwise there are just traffic signs and Prague drivers just have problems using them and behaving decently.

note that many of the drivers in Prague actually do come from "the rest of the Czech republic"

jazzbutterworth in the US it's relatively easy to get a ride along at e.g. fire departments. Just like Tobi, I only have some few ride alongs here in Europe, some from Norway and some from Germany. I'm riding with the EMS in my city, but due to high speeds we fly across the city (over average compared to the other EMS providers in the city) it's impossible for me to stand up and film during the ride.

@Rummeltobi
@Rummeltobi 4 года назад
I actually was switching the siren tones! :) I controlled the siren tones (wail, yelp and hi-lo) and the driver controlled the horn (over the steering wheel). Even though the switches sucked - the manufacturer installed outdated push buttons. I could only switch forward and double pressing to turn the siren off. At some points I really wanted to just switch back to the wail or yelp and all I could do is to just switch forward (especially at the intersection at 1:06).

lol It must have been thrilling for you, especially getting to play around with the sirens! Does the passenger and not the driver usually deal with the siren?
@Rummeltobi
@Rummeltobi 9 лет назад
gimboyblue1990 Yeah it was somehow lol I was happy to finally get a ride along here :) It's always different who's using the sirens. Usually the driver but it's also normal that the passenger deals with them as well. In this case I asked whether I can do the siren work and I could :) I can also send links of dash cam videos from Hungary if you want. Some of their ambulances have 2 sirens, one for the driver and one for the passenger ^^

gimboyblue1990 The loud one in the video is a Federal Signal. They made the lightbar and for the European market. Here's a video of it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rcUw5c4eZ50.html If set on that mode they have wail, yelp and 2-tone. And they often sold it with a FedSig MS4000U ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mDVgPFfidZ0.html Just found that video by the way^^ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1Q3UgxWTmVs.html

@gnawershreth
@gnawershreth 8 лет назад
+Brendon Bolden That's not uncommon. They could be transporting someone not critical so they don't use light, sirens etc. They could also be returning from a call or whatever. The sirens, lights etc. are reserved for actual emergencies in most of Europe. I assume it's the same in the Czech Republic.

I noticed that the people in Czech appear to be just living their lives the same way we do in USA. Just curious.. Is there much difference between the way Czech are versus USA?
@Rummeltobi
@Rummeltobi 8 лет назад
+Curtis Sylvester Jr. Basically everyone is pretty much living their lives somehow lol But the mentality is sure a different one. Some amazing things about the USA are simply the pride, freedoms and the mentality of the people which includes a lot of things. It's more like "we're a community and we live together" thinking in the USA than in Europe or the Czech Republic. In Europe/ CZ it's more like "everyone for himself", got your friends, got your home, got your area where you work, got your laws you live by and some hobby and that's usually it to keep it very short and basic. But yeah the greatest difference is definitely the mentality and the simple fact, that the US is the land of the free and the home of the brave, a country where you are able to do what you love to do, you might just have to work hard for it. I wanted to keep it short but anyways I want to mention an example which also has to do with the video and hobby of emergency vehicle photography and the general interest. You see.. this video would have usually not been able to make simply because it's so extremely difficult to get a ride along in Europe. Mostly due to insurance regulations and laws. In the US you can usually simply go to some fire or police department or EMS, talk with them, ask them for a ride along and got it all scheduled sometimes within 5-15 minutes if things go very good or within a few days. If I'm visiting police, fire or EMS stations in the states I knock on the door, ask them and the guys are usually like "You want a tour? Cool, come in and we show you around, I'm Toni and for sure you can take pictures". 2 hours later I come out with a patch, t-shirt of the department and some other stuff which they gave me. It may vary in Europe. But if I'm talking about the Czech Republic or Germany it's usually like this: Same scenario, I knock, ask the same way but the response is different. It's more like "What do you want? For what?!" It's already the question if I even get a short tour lol If so then "Pictures? Problem. No." and the tour lasts for like 5-10 minutes.
@HannTheftAudio
@HannTheftAudio 8 лет назад
So basically, its "the same" on the surface, but beyond that it's like a strict empire .... hmmmm
@Thepuggleparty
@Thepuggleparty 8 лет назад
+RT (Rummeltobi) that's not entirely true.. The USA is not as great and amazing as you make it seem, especially not where I live in it, nice place to live sure and I haven't had any major problems with it (i was born in Europe and have been living in the USA for years so I can speak for both) but as for the fire departments being so open and welcome here, far from the truth for most of them, you come to any department here they'll say the same as the European ones you mentioned, I'm a volunteer fireman and EMT here as well
@HannTheftAudio
@HannTheftAudio 8 лет назад
Yeah I can agree to that, but I was referring to the general public. It was looking like they live the same way we do in USA. I can say that as of lately "living as the people in USA do" would be seen as BULLSHIT!!!!

When I saw "Prague" in title, I was like : "Nah, again something about czech drivers are not considerate, because it's in Prague..." It's very surprising that they wasn't like that.
