Can Dutch Armed Forces also speak English? How much Dutch would I have to learn to move to Netherlands? I LOVE THEM! They are brilliant. Any country would be better than America where I live and was born, but my last name could be considered Dutch in fact it's Flemish which isn't far off. Holland would be a great place to go to for a long vacation. I personally feel that I will be much happier with Europeans, British, Australians, Canadians. These boys work hard. I'm not saying ours don't work hard I support the American Armed Forces, but I don't support the bullshit I have to put up with in American Gung Ho filthy society!
Benjamin Blake Mitchner Yes they do speak English (lots of conversations are in English because they work together with other countries) Most people in the Netherlands understand and/or speak English, it's a language most people learn at school. But if you're thinking about joining the dutch army, im afraid that won't be possible because you will need to have a Dutch nationality in order to join the army here... If you have any more questions, feel free to contact me :)
eriki3000 Thank you huge Erik! I'm not looking to join the Dutch Army I'm 39 and American, but I'm looking to permanently get out of America and the Netherlands attract me in a huge way. Talk about a polar opposite from us and also it's The Old World- much better than here! I'm not saying all Americans are bad, but to be honest most are I'd say. This country is too Gung Ho about everything and people are living in a delusional fantasy world. And that fantasy is a bad one. After what my life has been like since day one here I've had enough of it. Are my assumptions correct that the Netherlands is a very liberal and open and friendly country also with the best soldiers together with the British? If so I would travel to your country and then down the road some make the long jump into moving to your country. I'm adding you to my friends circle right now thank you very much, mate.
Benjamin Blake Mitchner The Dutch are mostly very down to earth. If you just want to come on a long holiday, it's not necessary to learn the language. If you are planning on living here however, please do. Also most Dutch can make themselves quite understandable in English.
Folkvangr9 Great! I'd love to come on a long visit to Netherlands and Germany maybe also Scandinavia. I would learn some Dutch/German/Swedish before coming, and I for my own good and health have to move to Europe. It's full of great people and different lifestyle than here in rotten to the bone USA. Dutch people do seem very nice. I don't know that many, however, and would love to know a lot. Soldiers are the best people in the world. Terribly misunderstood/misrepresented by society. We need a lot more good people like soldiers and a lot less bad people like insane greedy politicians.
As far as I know, the Dutch army doesn't discriminate. So if you've lived a clean life, learn Dutch and get a passport, you are able to join the military. Watch out though. There are some branches that will not allow you to join once you've reached a certain age. (The maximum and minimum age can differ.) As for going to the Netherlands, please do. Most people speak English and really friendly. Especially is smaller cities/town and to foreigners. Older people tend to not speak English as good as the younger ones, but they are often fluent or good in German. Have fun!
