As humans, we want to be liked. But more often than that, We do actions that would displease people around us. There are some situations that people just would not like us for who we are. In return, people may purposefully humiliate, shame and bully you. This can have an impact on your self esteem, and how you perceive yourself. Brother and sister, Jesus also went through the same ordeal. He was spat on, criticized, bullied and shamed for being who He is, for what he was doing - healing the sick, sharing the Good news and performing miracles. Even as a perfect God that He is, people just would not like him. In John 15:18-19, He said that If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first. If you were of the world, it would love you as its own. Instead, the world hates you, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world.
God, in His lovingkindness and own compassion, has a soft spot for the meek and disgraced. He said in His word, blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Believe that God counts the tears of His beloved and He will avenge you. And through it all, He will strengthen you and bless you.
