Ruby I want to thank you so much. For being you and showing the world. I’ve recently been in lots of physical pain, and suffering from depression from a disease that I was just diagnosed with. Through it all, going back to your videos brought me back to a state of peace. I’ve been watching your videos since 2016, and they remind me of the beauty of life. Of the joy that one can obtain from the simplest, seemingly mundane things. You are truly so inspiring, and have gotten me (and probably many others) through tough times. Love from Toronto
Caleigh, thank you. Thank you for being here for so long and being a friend I have never met 💗 it means so much to me that my videos have had that effect (it’s exactly what I endeavour to do with them so so lovely to hear!). And I’m really sorry that you are struggling so much. I am thinking of you and I hope that you will recover 💛
This was absolutely magical, so calming. I rarely watch RU-vid videos without having to skip some parts or while scrolling on my phone. But I watched yours from beginning to end. We can clearly see that you put a lot of effort into this one. Happy end of summer to everyone !
This video was free therapy! So calming and beautiful. I love how you see autumn on the horizon yet I still see summer in its might. how we notice seasonal changes is so idiosyncratic that what makes it special is the very feeling we take from it - whether that be the feeling of noting an early harvest or still feeling hot slabs under our toes at 9pm. Can’t wait to see more of these videos!
I ordered two of your academic planners - one for me, one for my sister. They’re lovely, thank you. I can’t wait for autumn, this heat is driving me up the wall
I used to work in an acupuncture clinic. In Chinese Medicine there is a fifth season…late summer. Or as I also like to think of it now pre-autumn. ☺️ 🌾
I really like, how you include your beautiful thougths and writing in your videos. Its so calming, in a world full of stress and media. It makes me want to live an analogue life, in peace with nature, reading books and writing. Thank you so much for this :)
I have always felt like this in August- where I would feel like it was autumn when I knew it wasn’t yet. This brought a whole new insight so thank you!
You make autumn sound and look so peaceful and nice. I used to dread it because I often get seasonal depression but through your videos I learnt to enjoy it and to almost look forward to it. 🍂🧡
This is such a beautiful video ruby! I'm loving all of this slow living content!! Thank you for all of the effort you put in your videos, the words are so beautifully said. Love from a fellow bookworm 🥰📙
I get what you’re saying about the seasons ”not being a linear thing”, but because I’m a nitpicky sort of person, I feel like I need to point out that the seasons are, in fact, linear 😅 Weather and weather patterns, not so much. The changing of the seasons is gradual, but it really is a linear progression, even if there are warmer or colder spells.
I feel like pre-autumn would make more sense sometime in September since autumn officially begins on the 22nd of September. You have been talking about pre-autumn since the beginning of August but at this point there are still at least TWO months of summer left. Not to mention the heat waves that are affecting so many parts of the world. Idk it just doesn't make sense.
@@annie1779 idk I think it’s just fun to get excited about changing seasons. Ik here in Canada last week it was a heat wave but this week it’s already bellow 20
@@tylerj1207 I’m just saying that in august we are only a month and a half into summer 💀 it’s ok to live in the moment and not spend so much time anticipating something that does not arrive for another two months
@@annie1779 I totally get that I agree so impotent to be in the now. I just know for my climate summers been around for a good 4 months and it’s colder now. But I do get what ur saying. 😊
Ruby, the video was so beautiful. I wanted to cry at the beginning when you were explaining the seasonal transitions. The world is so amazing, each season is lovely in its own way 🍂🌷❄️☀️
this video taught me how beautiful a transformation can be and that it takes time. How humans and nature are connected from all perspectives. It is just alluring to see the mystic beauty of nature.
remember autumn has come early because of climate change. Though autumn is wonderful, try not to romanticise that it's early. It's not supposed to be and will have repercussions for the nature that you love
For all the bookworms out there, I would like to say: “August rain: the best of summer gone, and the new fall not yet born.~ Sylvia Path. Ruby, this video encapsulates this quote perfectly; your breathtaking view of the world never ceases to inspire me to write. You are such an inspiration and a joy to watch every week. Your channel has become the highlight of my week. “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
There's just something about Ruby's videos that just makes me feel so happy to be alive. Thank you for another lovely video, Ruby! I hope you have a wonderful day.
This is your most beautiful video, Ruby. I'm so thankful you're sharing things like this with us. Here's what pre-autumn looks like right now in my part of the world, the west coast of Scotland: as evening creeps closer, the heavy, humid air of the day is dispersing, struck through by a breeze tinged with salt and the almost acrid hint of seaweed from over the dunes. The gulls cry, permeating the slow stillness of late summer. A half-forgotten novel sprawls on the grass beside an optimistic bottle of sunscreen. Cheeks are pink, regardless. The garden heather encroaches on the path but nobody minds because it looks so nice and soon it will lose its colour altogether. There is the fervent hope that the sunshine will cling on for another day.
Beth, this is stunning. Your writing is beautiful, especially the “almost acrid hint of seaweed” and the “half-forgotten novel”. Thank you for sharing this x
I’m so excited about Autumn! I’ve always been someone who preferred the sun over the cold, but as I’ve gotten older, I realised that I’m incredibly looking forward to Autumn and Winter too. The heat tends to make me feel sick and dizzy whereas the cold just makes me feel all cozy inside. I could somewhat understand why everyone loved Autumn so much but now as I’m seeing the autumn themed stuff come into shops and the days changing, I realised that Autumn has slowly become my favourite season. I even lit autumn themed candles already! I can’t wait to make my journal spreads all Autumn themed and try new Autumn activities!
Ruby thanks for sharing! By the way, Autumn sounds like something that you transition into, while Fall sound like something that happens without warning. You find yourself having to wear a jacket, sweater, or rain boots out of immediate necessity… The summer heat was just the day before, then you find yourself having to drink something hot to get warm as a pose to drinking something hot because you enjoy the beverage. No matter if the season is something I transition or fall into, I will embrace it with every breath I am gifted to breathe!
I really like this! Just in the way the words sound as well - “autumn” is rounded, and the “n” doesn’t suddenly end, but just fades into silence. “Fall” though comes out of nowhere x
Ruby, I have watched your videos for years and this one is by far my favorite, and one of your best videos you’ve ever done. This is why I want to move from America to a countryside village in Europe. Thank you so much. I enjoyed this immensely.
So beautiful Ruby. You are a poet. 😍 So true. Autumn- like life is bittersweet. The fact that things: change, metamorphasize, meld, transform, etc., enhances or accentuates their fleeting, fragile, transcendent uniqueness. The only things that remain after our passing is the good we do and hopefully 🙏 the words we write. 💐
Ruby, I am on the verge of tears. I found this video extremely comforting and wholesome. Thank you for putting so much effort into this, my heart feels so full and my day started gereat because of this
I absolutely love your house and garden, Ruby! I'm not sure how old the property is, but I can just imagine people a hundred years ago also enjoying a beautiful summer evening.... So lovely!
I have many videos of yours that I regularly return to for the warm, calming feeling that they bring me, but this one is really special. Thank you for sharing this with us Ruby 💕
Your house has something magic every time I see it at the screen. There are always new corners and “secret spots” to hide in. And each one has a chair or a place to lay and feel it
The impact this video gave me was very unexpected, while I learn something from every video you post, this one was special. I sat outside and watched this video all over again, in the sun admiring the warmth it gave. Thank you ruby, you allowed me to realise something I probably didn't realise.
Watching this in 32 degree C weather somehow doesn’t feel right…In Germany it hasn’t really rained in months and very rarely had temperatures below 28…aside from the shorter days this feels like the longest summer in years. Not complaining though, even though it’s hard on the environment. But autumn makes me sad…
Eh? It's 33 degrees in London today, the UK is in the middle of another heatwave and a drought was announced today. How on earth can you feel the winter coming?! It's Summer for goodness sake!
Dear Ruby, this video is everything. It feels like being there, smelling shortbreads, flowers, feeling the sun on your skin, feeling autumn coming. Thank you so much ❤️ Love from Italy ❤️
Everything was beautifully said 🥰 I needed to hear this. I needed to remember that everything is beautiful because it ends, and I absolutely shouldn't be taking things for granted nor being always living in the future or the past. ✨
I’m not kidding I slept while watching this video and I usually struggle with sleeping every single day I wanna thank you ruby for this amazing calm video I really enjoyed it ur such a blessing to share ur life and ur daily thoughts about books and much more.
Love the skateboard ramp. My husband used to have one in his garden growing up as well-he helped to build it. I think he’d love one again. Lovely video Ruby, I worry that the seasons have changed so quickly...I think it’s important to document the changes.
This year, more than usual after all these UK heatwaves, nature is truly craving the autumn rain. Btw, I love the blue/green dress in the crumble baking section 💖
@@Dhintheman I’m also working class and got two jobs straight out of uni. We don’t have to be bitter and criticise those more fortunate just because life didn’t deal us the same hand.
i have just gotten out of the psych ward i was in, and thought that being an adult wasnt worth much anymore (im newly 18) but then i always see your videos and remember that nothing is as bad as i think. i consider you a friend even though we’ve never spoken, youre so inspiring
I also had a big family reunion this summer. I got to meet some of my cousins children, whom I have never met before because it has been that long since I've seen them. My family is scattered across North America, I'm in Canada, most of them are in Utah but some are in Texas and Pennsylvania. We all got together to spread my grandparents ashes in Yellowstone Park as that was their favourite place to be. It was a beautiful event and your video reminded me of that. Thank you.
We're moving from vienna into the countryside in a few weeks time and i honestly cant wait!! thank you ruby for making me excited for this new life chapter again :)
Hi ruby! I doubt it if you’re going to see this, but I just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos :) they always keep me so motivated to study and read!
Ruby, you have such a special and beautiful way of looking at nature and life in general. I think this video reminds us that beauty is found when we are in connection with nature, and that is something that I want to start introducing in my every day life. Thank you 💕
I wrote that last comment after the first bit, but must say that this is one of the best video’s you’ve made, visually and otherwise. I really like it. Those vlogs were really high quality too. It’s actually quite inspiring. It’s not about books but the way you speak sounds very much like a great book. Top marks for this one Ruby. You did well.
Beautiful vidéo Ruby. Your videos are getting better and better and they are so beautiful, calm, inspiring and very British (I'm french). Thank you again for the time you give us. Lots of Love, from France x
Thank you Ruby, I get to see these beautiful sceneries thanks to youu ❤ where I live it doesn't get cold until November/ December, so you can't really see the season changing, especially that there isn't much plants it's all desert now .
