Good day to you all, I am Dr. Alper Eraslan from Dünya IVF Fertility Clinic in Cyprus and I would like to briefly give you information about the Preimplantation genetic screening.
Preimplantation genetic screening is a genetic selection procedure based on selection of 46 chromosomes in the embryo. It is a method that we apply in cases of universally accepted medical necessity.
In this method, as in the case of conventional IVF, first the ovaries are stimulated, then the eggs are collected, fertilized in the laboratory with sperm. The resulting embryos are called blastocyst and on day 5 or 6 they are biopsied and frozen.
The result is obtained in a few weeks.
This method helps to determine whether the embryo is genetically healthy. If a healthy embryo has been obtained, then the uterus is prepared and healthy embryo transfer is performed. In this way, the chance of pregnancy increases, unhealthy embryo transfer is prevented, the possibility of miscarriage decreases. In addition, adversities such as advanced age of the woman and previously failed IVF treatments will be no longer important.
