Pre-K & Primer K Curriculum Overview || The Good & The Beautiful 

I'm 21, not married, no kids to homeschool, and yet I can't get enough of these videos! I guess it's because I was homeschooled myself all the way up until college, so listening to how another family goes about it interests me. I love it! Keep up this great content! 🤗😁

I really admire teachers of early learning. I’ve been doing some tutoring for a few kids who are due to start primary school in September (age 4) but their abilities are SO VASTLY DIFFERENT. One of the little girls will be 5 in December and can confidently read small words and write her name and other little things, can count to 50 and can add on her fingers, while another of the kids who will turn 5 in January is literally just beginning to grasp the alphabet and counting to 20. It must be so difficult for teachers to teach a class of 30 4 year olds, all with different abilities and attention spans. If any of you reading this are teachers (of early learning or otherwise) I truly admire and appreciate you. 😊✨

Not sure why I'm so invested in this video even though I have no kids and no clue if I will homeschool when I do eventually have them! Lol...but it's so interesting!

I discovered The Good and the Beautiful this past school year and just love it! It works so well for large family homeschooling. My four year old daughter is working through pre-K and my 6 year old son finished the Primer K in just a couple months. Primer K gave him so much confidence as reading was a struggle for him even though he wanted so badly to learn how. Love their gentle approach in these early years. And the curriculum is so cute! Hope your older girls are enjoying the upper level LA too! Love this new channel!!

I've done a lot of curriculum development work. This program is my favorite. If I were homeschooling little ones, this is what we would be using. I so wish our public schools would swing back to the fundamental basics.

This video has me so excited for when I start with my son. He is just 2 and a half right now. He already has all his basic shapes down and some more complicated ones like oval and trapezoid! So I think this January I am going to start introducing him to homeschooling! Since having my son I had hummed and hawed about whether I wanted to homeschool as my husband was homeschooled. But the first video I ever saw of you talking about why you homeschooled your girls had me going, yup that is exactly the direction I want to go!

Thank you for the video! We are using TGATB also this year! Pre-K (3 almost 4 year old) Level K (6 year old) & Masterbooks Math Level 2 (8 year old) & Teaching Textbooks 3 History year 1 Arthropods We are also in a co-op that we attend on Wednesdays and the theme is art appreciation this semester.

Reminded me of my days homeschooling my daughters, one of whom just graduated and one who will graduate next year from a hybrid school that she started in 10th grade. I used to get very excited about curriculum and school supplies too!! 👏🏼😃Time flies, so keep enjoying the journey!!

This is interesting to look at if you come from a different school system. In Germany, children learn letters and numbers in first grade of primary school, at age 6.

My mom taught me to read even though I was in public school. I remember reading Dick and Jane for our reader and it was a really good way to learn how to read!

Love your videos! Could you possibly explain how you keep your kids on task and making sure they get through what they need to for each day? Do the kids ever try to make excuses to not do schoolwork because they are learning in a comfortable home setting or do they focus better at home than at a school? I'm honestly just so curious!

Thanks for doing all this! This looks a good curriculum. I’ve bought several curriculum/ homeschooling books in the past years of homeschooling and found I don’t like them. But this looks like a good one. I’ve been homeschooling my kids for the past 12 years with my oldest just graduated and my youngest not quite 1 yet. I think I my try this curriculum for my younger ones. Thank you for taking the time to show this. As a homeschool parent it’s hard to know what books to make the investment in.

I am excited for you to be homeschooling Rosie. I am looking forward to hearing how she is learning. I already know she is a smart little girl as you do, but as you school her you’ll love realizing how much she knows and the ways she can express what she knows and as she learns. My youngest is five and has always loved doing school with her siblings and then doing her own schoolwork. Her schooling looks different then my six other Children’s has, but I have loved being able to show her docs what she CAN do and all she is learning, she has amazed all of them and she loves learning. We have started with her learning to read, she is still considered, grossly non verbal, but is learning to read by matching a word with a picture or items. She does sign and has picked up on more words she can say, but still very limited. Helping her be at her best is my goal and I love it!!! My older three children are 18, 21, and 26;). My three boys are 11, almost 11 and 8. So it is a lot, but well worth it in keeping my little girl homeschooled. All that to tell you, “You can do this and you’ll love watching her grow in her learning style those precious boys as well”.

Thanks so much for sharing! I really like this curriculum. Their higher levels have too much Christian focus for me but I'm glad to see that the pre-k and k primer I can use.

New to homeschooling and I decided on this curriculum for both my kids for LA. I just received my order and I’m excited! I also went with the human body bc my daughter wants to be a doctor and space bc my son wanted to learn about stars. I plan to grab energy bc my son wants to learn about engineering. I’m using K and 1 for now until I can fill in gaps. Both my kids struggle with phonic blends and vowels.

I was in private school from pre k to 7th grade but homeschooled from 7th to graduation. I loved my education. I find it so interesting to see how homeschool works at a younger age. Btw Love your hair!! Color, style all looks great on you!

Am totally loving the homeschooling channel. I'm a nanny to a 5 year old that isn't in school yet and have a 3 year old myself. The pre-k and primer k look like they are just their speed. May have to do like you are doing with your son and start with the primer k and then go to kindergarten for the 5 year old. Your videos are so informational and help me tremendously in my pursuit of homeschooling.

Thanks for the close up of the pages! I just bought this today after watching your video! And I am not a groupie... This is just the one! I have been pouring through philosophies and homeschool curriculum for 6 months now trying to figure out what direction to go with my kids. I was leaning towards My Father's World but wasn't jazzed about their preschool curriculum and all of the stuff you had to buy in the kit just to use the curriculum books. Stuff I already had something similar for or didn't think I would love using. And books I could easily check out from the library. Anyway, this Kindergarten Primer looks perfect for where she is at scholastically and I can't wait to start. Thanks!

Love your homeschool channel. Great resources. I was curious as to any opinions you have about some of the “controversy” so to speak surrounding The Good and The Beautiful? Religious content and some of the language in the curriculum? Just curious for your thoughts as a veteran homeschool mom as I am only going into my second year. Weeding through all the options out there is so daunting.

Hoping you’re ready to do a Good and Beautiful review? :) I’m using it this year but having been more of a traditional teacher in the past I’m struggling with the transition. Love the idea, maybe I’m not implementing it well

Did you end up getting the history? I remember you saying you were going to supplement it, but couldn’t remember if you got it or not. If so, I’d love to know what you think of it and what other books you plan to use. I want a read aloud that we can all do together but that will give us a look into history as well.

Could you please tell me, at the end of the year do your kids have to take some sort of test to ensure they are learning on track and are at or above grade level (if that makes sense)? Or is it more of a test at certain grade levels? I went to public school and I remember testing and such to make sure I was preforming at grade level.
