DIY was the best thing I ever did, came from original Evolve carbon gt, then dropped a 10s5p 30q battery in it... was great, but still not enough range, power or ability. I am in no way tech minded and was quite intimidated by the overload of information but after some basic research and getting my head around "what works with what" I started my build, piece by piece and I couldn't be happier with the result. I'm 6ft 2, 250 lbs and with my battery (12s7p) I'm getting 30+ miles of range (riding HARD) with a 37mph (loaded) top speed on 8" mud tyres. Absolutely flies up anything you point it at! Moral of the story is... You Can Do It!!! As I said, I knew jack shit but had the willingness to research and learn... I've got about £16-1700 in this build and it's an absolute fu**ing monster of a thing.

Very nice, great to see you join the DIY club Chris, and great build Ricky. 12S4P is what I feel is the perfect range/ power balance for your average person, I personally find my legs start to feel pretty tired before my board is flat. I'm using 21700 Molicel's in mine and getting just over 40km off a charge on 6" AT wheels, not sure what the top speed is but I usually ride around 30-35kph, and I've hit 43kph before started feeling a bit sketchy. would recommend checking out the Maytech remote its trigger/ brake is the closest to an Evolve remote you can get in a DIY.

Thanks for the video and why it's the board for your needs/wants. Unlike most. 20-24mph is fast enough for me. Especially if you get wheel bite at 25+. What brand and model helmet were you wearing? Any issues with it getting to hot wearing it during the summer months?

Coming from evolves to diy it is an evolution I still love my stock GTX but it's not my daily driver. Now I ride a 16S3P beast gone are the DKP because at speeds of 60km+ they are too dangerous. The maytech waterproof remote is a good Evolve rip off with dual triggers. Only downside is ridding at evolve speeds with mates.

Would be good to get a link to the Trucks. Could be Flipsky DKP, though i guess Evolve trucks would work fine too?

Lower the ramping time on your esc to beat the evolve off the line instead of just keeping pace until 20 mph

Would like in the review more info on how waterproof/resistant that board is. Also does Ricky sell these boards? 😂 Don't need a warranty from you guys 😂 like yourself Chris I want to just buy and ride and cba with dialling stuff in.

Looked like this board beat the Evolve also from the start. I assume the deck is completely stiff seeing as the enclosure does not look flexy?

You should get a maytech v2 remote, I have it and it is very similar to evolve r2 remote.

I do have a question though, the controller man...isn´t there a knock off of the NEW Evolve remote anywhere that you could easily tie with a DIY board? I loove my GTR to bits and I loove the controller man.. can´t really go DIY if it does not have the Evolve style controller, it´s just soo good :D

Lucky you had a helmet mate, i was carving and came off my GTR close to 2months ago with no helmet on going 30kmph(around 18mph) knocket myself out cold broke my scapula was in hospital for 2days had bad verdigo which is only starting to clear up now. will have a helmet on my head from now on.Make ricky read this lol nice video as always.

It wasn’t speed that throw you off the board, if you watch carefully it was trucks (that’s what happens with double kingpins in fast tight turns or carves)

What's the laws behind Electric Skateboards. I'm about to buy my own gtr but i dont want to be throwing 1.5k to the bin to then get stopped in the streets.

The only thing I dislike is the drop down deck. I don't like my feet locked in like that. Maybe it's just me but falling is easier with that kind of deck.

I was thinking of going for a night ride a few months ago, I looked at my board and then woke up in the ER with a concussion. I had apparently decided to go out for this night ride I was thinking of and had some kind of accident. Nothing broken just bruised and scraped. I still remember nothing that happened in the four hour gap between waking up in the ER and sitting in my room thinking about going for a ride in my uni parking lot. The doctor told me that If I hadn't worn a helmet that day that I probably would have died. I bought a new helmet and keep the helmet I crashed in mounted on my wall to remember what I've forgotten and as a reminder of the importance of helmets. Don't be a dumbass, wear a helmet.

Christ you are, even on Evolve forums, the only one that has ever said they like/prefer the Evolve remote. Big, clunky, vulnerable, expensive and certainly not natural to use.

Nice review. Your wheels are not installed correctly in this shoot. If the road is wet, the water will be guided to the center instead to the outside. So dangerous for aquaplaning. Somebody else already mentioned before me.

why do you compare with black carve 1? if you wanna compare it with black carve 2... black carve 2 will definitely beat this board or at least keep up. price is way to expensive for DIY type of board. you can buy black carve 2 with AT and 120 Cloud wheels for the same price as this board...and 1 year warranty instead of 9 months.

Evolve is falling asleep in the garden, they are not relevant anymore at least for me.
