A channel to discuss all things electric skateboards by Chris Kibui based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. I discovered the world of electric skateboards in 2016. Since getting my first boards, I have been acquiring a selection of boards from difference manufacturers and have decided to share my feedback and opinions on this RU-vid channel. I will be sharing weekly episodes and hope you all enjoy watching or listening on the podcast below.

Nice honest review, but a bit average. I don't think I'd rush out and buy over taking my 12s8p 18650 segmented and flexible evolve GT on thanes that reaches 60kmh though. It's hard to look at consumer boards with respect after going down the DIY path. Yes, the fibreglass is itchy and horrible to work with, and the battery packs are as scary to work with as the boards are to ride, but it's worth it. You're definitely right about boards not riding like skateboards. My lonestar supersports best attribute is making me feel better about the boards I've built myself.
So this board is evolves new board . Twice the price as all the other boards with these specifications. And not using any of the new tech that has come out over the last year . Yes it's better than the Hayden. But let's be honest that's what the other companies have been selling for 1000 to 1200 dollars all last year . Yes the trucks are nice . But not that much better . My point is that Evolve is now running last in the stakes of tech , deck . range , and feel . And as far as that tank type board you are on about . Try the ace deck x1 . Or a pivot from propel . Both a lot cheaper and better in different ways.
I was thinking about pulling the trigger on this until I saw that price tag and laughed For that much money, I'll get an atlas for a little bit cheaper with fast charging It's funny you call them The Apple company of electric skateboards. That's exactly what I think about when I see Evolve. Overpriced, you can get the same ride if not better for hundreds of dollars cheaper I had the Hadean and the first Gen gtr carbon I regret I didn't find propel sooner
Another reason to get 4wd is for heavier riders. I have the exway flex and it does great for me, but sometimes I wish I had the power to accelerate faster up hills or even to ride through grass or on dirt roads/uneven roads
in terms of serviceable... my first 2 boards were cheap hub boards that I couldn't really work on as hard as I tried, just bought a prople pivot GT a bit ago (300 miles in) and I'm realy happy with how serviceable this is.
Your comparison to Apple is spot on. Couldn’t have said it better. Appealing to the majority, setting the standard, innovating puts you at the top, like it or not, haters. You don’t have to like them or use them but if you can’t appreciate what evolve is to the Esk8 community you’re just a dumb person.
Which is best?…….. a brand new one of these, off eBay for £1600 Or a 2nd hand, but hardly used, Evolve Hadean bamboo all terrain, for about £750-850 Any advice appreciated 👍🏻
Honestly, the exway is a beast if you just want power (unsafe at top speed as it has unresolved issues) but the company is shite at customer service and support. Plus there is no one to fix your board. you have to fix it yourself. I'd opt for Evolve for support and real customer service.
The safety warnings are a real benefit. To me, the biggest thing of interest is the new ESC. The battery and motors, etc are kind of expected - a reasonable and good bump for a model upgrade - but the reason I hesitate on Evolve more than anything else is the countless stories of lock-ups, especially with the Hadean. So if that is fixed, Evolve is doing the right thing.
I can not wait for review of renegade diablo. I'm so excited. It is hard to find a good fulfilling review of standard renegade so I have high hopes for yours. I am mostly curious about the feeling on higher speeds, ground clearance and how foot placement feels for taller riders I'm 190 cm and apparently renegade is shorter. Also are bindings a game changer ?
I wanted to drop a review on the current Renegade but it makes sense to wait for the newer one right ? I'll answer all questions excluding the taller rider ones... Im short lol
WARRENTY IS VOIDED BY WATER!!!! Below is a copy and paste straight from the website, dont ride in the wet (personal expericnce) or even moist in the UK the splashes from the wheel wet the bottom of the deck and the droplets make their way into the enclosure same goes with water on top of the board it makes it way down the screws please be mindful of this when purchasing ANY evolve board, i learned my lesson and stick to exway or onsra given they give an actual IP code rating. Is the GTR2 Waterproof? Updated 3 months ago We also do but in newer models, we have made every effort we can to protect the electrical components in accidental situations. The Hadean, GTR and Stoke Series 1 and 2 have dust seals that run the perimeter of the casing, along with conformal coating as added element protection. Although we have taken this extra effort, the electronics, bearings and other components may be
There is a middle ground / best of both worlds when it comes to fast charging. 3 - 4 hours charge is not fast of course. 2h full charge or 1h to get from 10% ish to 80% is fast enough but should not harm the batteries. I dont think people need brutal battery damaging fast charging ( 1h or less full charge ). THAT is what damages cells according to the research ive done. How about giving us a charger that has selection knobs on it ? Let us choose what current we want and what charge level ( 40% storage charge, 80%, 90%, 100% options ), let us choose what current : Ultra slow charge ( maybe 2 - 3 amp ), medium charge ( maybe 4 - 5amp ) and then fast charge ( maybe 6 - 8 amp ). These chargers already exist ( ChiBatterySystems for example ) Edit : We need battery packs that allow the user to easily remove individual cells. We need motors that are oil / greasable without taking things apart ( once those tiny little motor can screws are moved, they will never fasten tightly again ). We need a waterproof battery AND motor controller, evolve showed an upgrade to the battery gasket but did not show motor controller, can this be looked into ? ( check to see if motor controller has received better water resistance upgrade ). We need a designated on / off switch for the lights on the remote, also maybe an electronic bell ? ( not a horn, is rude ). Give us full feature customization FROM THE REMOTE without forcing us to use an unreliable phone app.
As a Hadean user, the one thing that is missing from my point of view and not offered, is Gear Drive, a no brainer and a missed chance by Evolve, less to maintain and tune, this is even more of a miss when you consider the poor quality of the fasternings from Evelve that are often destroyed in adjusting. Also I have just fitted new M Board 6inch tyres, they are a game changer, real rubber and full fltat contact patch they are amazing!!
@@averageeskatereviews No sir - not even CLOSE to that. This was under optimal conditions; using street wheels on a paved bike path while cruising at 75% speed on a 70 degree day while scoping bikinis - but I got a personal best 26 miles out of a charge. I normally ride faster/harder but nothing like what I see you doing here. 50 miles would be just about perfect so I was a little bummed when you guestimated the range at 25 miles but let's see your review after field testing. I've been considering a battery-pack that straps to the board & doubles the range but it destroys the look of the board. Probably adds 10 pounds too.
@@docholliday3666 25 miles on AT tires is about 40 miles on street wheels. I can get 40 miles a charge riding really hard on my Hadean with the 107mm street wheels. AT wheels use way more juice per mile. In the Diablo launch video the guy on street wheels got 60 MILES wtf!
I had a GT Bamboo not long ago. The board kept overheating within minutes when I was riding in the city even at moderate temperatures like 80-85 degrees F. The ESC would shut down, or one motor would stop running, or both motors would stop. Did Evolve address this issue with new Diablo series? Did you do a test run in the city when its 85 degrees F?
I would like to know if the remote makes you recalibrate once a week. Mine does that every week resetting my personal settings and it pisses me off. Also did they ever install a reverse option to the controller?
maybe theyll do what teamgee did and put the reverse switch on the side of the remote so your hand can slowly fidget it across without you noticing. its always fun when you go to accelerate away from a car and instead end up flat on your face in front of it. :) I love those features. 👍
@@ShadrikEaston haha well I guess you've never tried boosted boards, meepo boards, or literally any other board that has this feature, which by the way, everyone loves. 😅
@@sillyseriouspro they put the reverse switch under the palm of your hand? :o wow. I glued mine in place 🤣you seem upset or annoyed. I cant work out which or maybe Im wrong. my comment wasnt meant as a dig or anything. it was just recalling that time I was going forward..and then I wasnt. lol. remarkably unpleasant. i prefer the double tap on the speed button. less easy to accidentally trigger.
@ShadrikEaston I'm not upset. This is a conversation, which is how you create solutions. I really love Evolve but they never evolve the controller or features. It's their weakness and I want them to fix it. Evolve won't listen or respond to the customers when we give feedback. They could cleverly install the reverse on the remote or integrade the forward and reverse thumb wheel like boosted. These guys have so much potential.
This is what the Hadean should have been, being a Hadean owner it is not worth an extra $3k to upgrade, will see what happens over the next 2 years before I pull the trigger on another ride.
Not for the cheap-o 👎 . let me know when you find a 2 in 1 production board with more power, more features, better remote, and better customer service for less.. No such thing. so is it actually too expensive? Or you are just cheap… cringe*
@@eboardlifestyle now now no need to be so defensive...I have enough boards to know the difference & i would still say its a bit pricey that said the improvements are needed to bring back interest in these boards to be competitive again...
And yet here you are on my video leaving a comment to express an opinion I couldn’t care less about. Wanna know my opinion of you ? Nothing… you don’t even exist to me.
Naww, strike a nerve did I? You know it's true buddy. PS only a pleb would cry about a fast charger and beg for evolve to charge them a fortune for one.. two wires 😂
Awesome to have you back my man, cant wait for the review! Also great to see this board side by side with the Hadean, try to do the same with the Carbon? Although Carbon should just have a grippier tape on it. Bamboo seems much thicker with the extra layer, weight a bit higher also I guess. Try to do the sideshot acceleration test like some do, camera on tripod from far away and then just paste the Hadean footage on the top and Diablo on the bottom slice. Maybe get a GoPro helmet so you can do POV footage or the Insta360 stick to have some great third person footage.
What makes you say that the battery will "allow [...] much better power" ? If I compare Lishen LR2170LA to Samsung 50S data sheet that's not what I see 🕵♂
@@benjaminzuideveld5257It’s not hard to output more than the hadean, a fancy throttle curve to make the initial board response jerky isn’t really a display of power. The hadean even looked like it was struggling against the gtr for a bit in their drag race clips as if it wasn’t even in corsa mode, which just reminds me of the exway flex comparison they did…Throwing out numbers like 200 amps and 180 amps when the battery is limited to 80 amps (4000 watts max) by temperature and the motors 70 amps x2 to get 3500 watts each isn’t really groundbreaking either, it’s the low end of what similar form DIY boards have been capable of since 2018.
